  1. Is it really an issue? It gives you a choice - haul ore - so you have less weight for the same volume or haul pure element so you have more use out of the same volume but weight more. All realism (thats a game after all, if i can stomach warp travel, i can stomach mass discrepancies) aside - for me this is fair trade in hauling.
  2. basic transfer unit - move 1 type of item. Uncommon transfer unit - move 2 types of item. And so on. Recipes would need proper adjustments, new UI would be need. Everything else about them stay the same.
  3. Thats all on videos. You don't have additional factor of player controlling what is happening on the screen + muscle memory + reaction and prediction of movements. As far as i know there are (not really scientific but good enough) tests which shows that higher frame-rate is easier on our brain - easier to predict what will happen, easier to track movements, etc. Thats one thing. Now animation - you are partially correct - depending on which animation technique will be used - this what you said was especially true in 2D world. Fortunately animation technology went ahead. Especially with meshes with skeletal animations as much frames can your machine pump, as many different frame there will be between two different "key" - so set by animator - frames.
  4. You do it the hard way - so as you described. Either balance out fuel usage between tanks connected to multiple engines - for example connect every tank to 4 same engines - or make one massive tank. There is no workaround.
  5. Probably yes. We will see in few weeks, maybe 2 months. I will be really interested where we will be then.
  6. Real questions actually. I'm curious what do you think. Why should I be as efficient in progressing as I can? What incentive actually there is to play that civilization right now? What will I get out of going out and helping speed up to current mechanic limits beside of running out of things to do?
  7. As someone who did exactly that (i cracked finally on container hubs - no idea why they decided to use advanced components in that one ) i can tell you that its perfectly doable. Later of course I will have to use market extensivly - if that fucked up economy recover enough - but basically I have bootstraped from default speed up to tier 2 parts without problem practically without using markets, including actually crafting all my cores. That's not a struggle if you like factorio or satisfactory gameplay And its satisfying to be self sufficient. You completely missundestand my type of players - we don't care about racing to the top/end game asap. We just do our thing in our own time. Yes, its not the way you play the game. Yes, the game was not design to be played this way. Yes it is and will be a challenge (mostly in patience if you are not suited for it). But I have fun.
  8. I would stick to sanctuary base becase: - this will never be under attack, guaranteed - wherever you go you will still have to travel some time to get all tier 2 resrouces, especially tier 3+ - flight to near frozen moon from sanctuary is really quick and it has tone of Tier 1 resources. The only real downside is atmoshpere of sanctuary - but if you can get your ship out of sanctuary atmo with some cargo, it means you can get it out of atmo on any other planet in safe zone.
  9. Core and fundamental part of current gameplay is safe zone. Thats a fact. It exist. It is utilized. So removing it will drastically change how the game is played. Thats one thing. If anything I'm advocating against such fundamental change. Now that thats said - I don't know. I have an opinion. Not sure how informed that opinion is. For me its simple, without safe zone containing tier 1 and 2 ores, zone which can be mined with impunity - less than good in pvp player will get bankrupt. By bankrupt i mean that hey had enough on the trot fails in mining expeditions that they won't have a way to recover without mining surface rocks - and as far as i know they are not infinitely respwanable - i manage to clear 1/5 of my sanct tile out of them and seen rumors of people who cleared whole sanctuary tiles. That will be no fun and they will go to play other games which are easier. And if i'm talking about less than good pvp players, imho i'm talking about most of the players. Which leaves only gankers and pirates who will be able to sustain themselves until their victims leave. Than they have no victims other than gankers and we have natural selection yet again. And player base will shrink. But as i already said - its just an opinion. Based on experience because I've seen it happen, i will see it happen again, but I DO NOT KNOW if DU will end up this way. I only worry it will be the case. There is more of course - I'm worry about economy - because right now IMHO its broken as hell with no sink for elements - which will forever drive price down (so industrialist game play is becoming less and less viable and miner is less needed). The only industry anyone will need in few months will probably be scrap, honeycomb and fuel production. Everything else will be waste of money. Voxelmancy and "nice ship design" will go to craper too because only efficiency will allow for sustainability in the game. Only efficient ships will sell, which means only meta ships will sell. All that lead me to believe that without some safe space with enough gameplay in such safe space, this game will be nothing more than rust in space with a bit more complicated mechanics and the longest turnaround after wipe out by raid/string of mishap, etc, of all rust style games. A very very specific niche small scale instead of a massive multiplayer game. But that's just an opinion. I don't know any better than devs - i will know what happens when it happens. Besides - if all alpha players knew what they were up to - we wouldn't have voxelmancy or all those nice ships. We would have whole fleets of borg cubes fighting all over the pvp space. Because no way in hell i will believe that alpha testers who knew the game and didn't figure out meta by the time beta released, right? And they would go straight to the fun part of game right? Hmmm, they did. Its not fighting or building efficient ships. Or is it? I also believe that a sizable, if not majority, group of people would be very surprised of how the game would play with only sanct moon and a bit of alioth as safe zone only. With enough pvpers happy to block Alioth and Sanct moon - said group will be up to quite a shocking awaking. But i hope i'm mistaken.... I in general agree with you. My worry is that civilization need sustainability and numbers. Take one away and it will collapse. If sustainability is boring as hell - than players leave. If there is no sustainability for players, they will leave. Enough of them leave and you do not have civilization. To sum up @Moosegun , right now i believe that sustainability is at very big risk without safe zone. I completely acknowledge that it may work itself out. I just very much doubt it. Edit: hmm, @Moosegunyou actually made me think about it a bit differently. I would sum my worries up this way - I do worry that this game will degrade to survival and than it will be struggle for everyone.
  10. Fair enough, we will have to agree to disagree on that one.
  11. I highlighted your assumptions for you. The only one I'm relatively confident you are qualified to state is last one. Cheers.
  12. Wow, thats a lot of assumptions. A lot of those opposite to my assumptions. Especially that JC stated that those are only possibilities, not 100% sure it will be this way. Well, we will see.
  13. Imho, all space is full pvp it will be bankruptcy in few weeks top for most of players in small corporation = no fun. Than bigger corporations will go = no fun. Than we will end up with few megacorps which will get bored in few more weeks later and leave. At least thats how it goes in most all world pvp server for survival games I know. Other makes periodic restarts to level playfield. Maybe, just maybe scale effect will change stuff here.... but I don't think so. Ah, not to mention that anything not meta will die. So no nice looking ships at all. For any reason. Again no fun. But if you are right, lets hope i'm mistaken.
  14. Even that is not necessary a mistake - just maybe inconvenience at the beginning and imho completely overridden by lag free environment around me.
  15. Well, counter to this is easy. Why players automatically assume nefarious reasons without waiting for explanation? Cause not everyone "just want to know the answer" - there is a lot of "no no" and "cheating" assumptions floating in this thread. Without any answer during weekend after less than 24 hours of asking for a territory claimed by official account (this is not anonymised normal gaming account where he play the game i hope). So yeah, you have people calling for less enmity in approach.
  16. I still hope they will do something like albion tiered approach with safe zones with basic materials (would be tier 1 and 2 for us) and everything outside progressively less "safe" with highest tier resources in completely free for all zone. But my hopes are diminishing with every new information
  17. FX 8350 and GTX 1060 + 16 GB of ram, game on ssd, playing in window with a bit bigger than 1440p window area. (Un)fortunatelly I don't have this problem. I have mostly smooth gameplay, i can even fly around markets on sanctuary with not perfect, but perfectly playable framerate. Looks like something bad is going on and certainly not really affecting anyone.
  18. I'm reading this thread and scratching my head. All is fine and dandy, all arguments are good- but - and that is crucial but, to go into pvp area i have to know that i can influence result of pvp engagement. At very least i have to believe i can influce that result. Until meta change, there is no way in hell i will take any cargo hauler outside safe zone. I'm not a gambler. As a hermit - if i go outside i either meat ganker and die, or i don't meat pvp (so anyone). That is pure chance. Dice roll. My skills, my ship design won't matter because pvp ship will practically always be faster and if pilot knows what he is doing it will kill me with ease. I can't fight because there is no way to make proper XS killbox that is able to haul cargo worth of time investment. I can make anything bigger than XS because it will be dead every single time. So I'm not going to participate in pvp in any other role than yet another ganker - if at all - because this is the only single way I have any influence on result. But lets say i'm not a hermit - i'm part of organization. So now i have to take on escort. How many escort ship do i need? How long escorting players will have to stick around when i'm mining? How many I actually need to be safe? From what I understand, you need more borg minicubes than your opponent have. Gankers has 3? Bring 6. Or 12. No group of ganker will attack freighter defended by enough boxes. But no way enough players will sacrifice their time to escort hauler which is quarantined not to be attacked. Who would sign up for few hours of total boredom and doing nothing? Not me. And for sure not enough players will go with me for me to have enough escorts to be safe. And again - with current meta it comes back to gambling. Either i will have enough escort to discourage gankers or i'm (and now with escort ships too) dead. Again there is no skill involved on my part or even on escort part. So my conclusion is - current meta kills pvp in any other form than ganking. Kills shipping outside safe zone. And kills everything which is not borg minicube killbox, at least outside safe zone. Until this is change, and we know what will come after, any changes to safe zones can wipe huge percent of player base. Only gamblers and gankers would stay - and gamblers tend to bankrupt themselves so they would probably be wiped out of the game too, by pure natural selection. Than gankers would follow because they would have literally nothing to hunt for. Convince me i'm wrong.
