  1. Well on that note, I have to say that Digital Extremes, who developed Warframe, is unusually open to its players' input, and that's generated a lot of popularity for the studio and Warframe. From what I've seen, I have a feeling that Novaquark is going to be the same way.
  2. Oho...a great entity indeed! Welcome to the forums Semigod!
  3. Is Aphelia going to be significant after the initial landing? I noticed while reading the following passage: "There?s something schizophrenic, even bipolar about this AI. Depending on whether she?s addressing you or the phantom crew, whether she?s handling the ship or coaching you, she adopts a different tone and a different vocabulary. It?s not just that she?s adapting, that she manipulates you to push you to your optimum mental and physical health ? which I accept quite willingly ? she seems to be pursuing a greater, more secret goal, which is not just a matter of a successful colonization or our survival. Something else is at work in her that I can?t seem to understand or articulate." Sounds like the beginnings of self-awareness for Aphelia. Are you guys possibly planning an AI overtaking? XD
  4. @Markus: I hope I don't sound pretentious saying this but naturally, this is an opinion shared by most, if not all, of us forum members. We certainly would not ask anything in return, but if Novaquark did decide to do a little something for backers and testers, I'm sure most would not blatantly refuse to accept it either. I for one always live for the cosmetics and such in-game, and purty outfits are always great. But the point remains, yes, most of us are perfectly happy to help make DU the best it can be. Cheers, ~Astrophil
  5. Ayyy another Elite player, and quite an accomplished one at that. Welcome to our humble forums, Markus!
  6. Which should be Q1 2016 if all goes as planned.
  7. Haha. FacelessSavior is quite the spicy one in the comments. Perhaps we'll be seeing him/her shortly.
  8. Maybe players would be able to designate their creations as "sit-on-able" somehow, and perhaps with such things as thrones, only certain people have the right (the tag) to sit on certain things. Question remains of the natural world however.
  9. So, having just started Grey's Anatomy two weeks ago, I, in the midst of an episode, came upon a thought for which I was not entirely sure the manner in which it would manifest itself in Dual Universe. This thought, namely, the concept of in-game health. Therefore, let me outline a few questions below: Will there be a concept of health, not just in HP or energy, but in other palpable effects (from diseases, disorders that have more permanent effects such as lowered HP or visual symptoms, faster death rate), or will medicine have advanced so far that this won't be an issue? And perhaps potential doctor/surgeon roles? Will there be diseases? If so, what kind of effects and diffusion can we expect to see (as in contamination, epidemics)? Should diseases and health problems carry over if you are resurrected? I have a feeling it's much too early to be digging into such in-depth details, as the fundamental mechanics are still being laid out and refined, but exploring the concept a bit ought to be interesting. ~Astrophil

    The Economy

I hope DU won't be as harsh of a world as that. Perhaps, and I know how NQ wants to steer away from this, but perhaps a beginning starter quest to build your own ship would be helpful in getting new players acquainted with the game and starting them off with their own, custom, self-built ship as well. It would be a good way to kick players off with a sense of achievement and perhaps retain and expand the player base even more.
  11. Oh my milady. Two Empires already. We have competition Saffi and Klatu! *hee hee*
  12. Timey-wimey. I see what you did there @Klatu. A cosmic speed limit would certainly either limit the distance between planets or significantly increase travel time between, that is, if you want to stay true to speed- distance-time relationship. A few light-years away and already you're at one or two years of travel time. However, I also understand the wish to observe the laws of physics, so probably if you want systems and galaxies the size of Elite's, timey-wimey or FTL is the way to go. We should also question the flight abilities of the Arkship...is that FTL or capable of warping, or did it just depend purely on cryo-freezing to get the colonists to Alioth?
  13. No you're completely correct, it's never too early to begin planning. In fact, there are some who have already begun to do so, with some posts as well. Check in General Discussion and I think you'll find a couple if you want to take a look.
  14. Ayup. Very nice model. Are the extruders going to be movable like today's printers or is it just going to spray a bunch of material and magically form? It'd kind of be cool to see the particle graphics but I'm not sure how realistic that'd be.
  15. Oh my it's gorgeous. Simply fantabulous. Maybe even bordering on a video of sorts.
  16. Going to delete this post soon because it's so absolutely depressing XD
  17. Completely off topic...how did you all do with Powerball. Guess what? I didn't win again! Yay me... The Powerball site is completely flooded.
  18. Yes. Very true points. Paying a sub every month for the full, unthrottled game experience is far more preferable to throwing money at the screen for premium overpriced cash shop items or (God forbid) original release "premium" content. Pay to win essentially. I don't mind at all paying monthly for quality services, even if they do eat up such a very large portion of my time (Netflix and Spotify oops). It's gotta be enjoyable and worth it though.

    Pets

Cryofreezing pets wouldn't have been possible. There was a very strict limit on the number of humans allowed on the Arkships, let alone pets. Not to be biased to humans or against animals or anything, but there would have been an outrage among the other humans denied passage. DNA samples is much more likely.

    The Economy

Ah really now...currency exchanges and stuff? We would need market analysts to determine what is a fair trade in each place a certain type of currency is used, and this would need to constantly be done, which is a lot of useless hassle indeed. Universal currency sounds like the way to go.

    Pets

I'm interpreting that as just a general script, whether player-made or predefined. When Nyz mentioned "customized AI scripts" I believe he just means pets can't have AIs, since they're not artificial. So pets, as lifeforms, will have pre-scripted actions, while mechanized machines can have player-scripted AIs. Just my two-cents. And by the way, 999th post right here.
