  1. Yeah. "It can't be easier" is old banter from techno-elite which fear about theirs sandcastles of "arcane knowledge" behind which is only obfuscation and mud-gas. Not so long ago all IT guys and engineers think that you can operate computers only by command-line. And somehow we have Windows or MacOS, where you even do not see console...
  2. *Ekhm* @ Dhara_Elysande @ CaptainTwerkmotor You still (on this stage I suppose that you do it deliberately) miss key point of this whole topic and furiously fight with non-existing thread. I can repeat, if you do not read it correctly (or you can just read first post in this topic): we DO NOT WANT TO MADE SCRIPTING HARDER FOR PROGRAMMERS - or restrict programmers in any other way. We just want try to LOWER ENTRY POINT FOR NON-PROGRAMMERS - and we are being attacked for that and just that (!) And for rest of so-called arguments... ehhh... I do not want respond to such level of banter, just read this and this. LUA is easy in your worlds. It not mean that it is easy at all. I want to remind that smallest sample to back such opinions must be at last 30 persons big and totally random. So, before you collect such statistic, please, try to stop saying "I KNOW LUA THEREFORE IT IS EASY". No, it is not - you are just clever or mathematically inclined. Thank you. PS: And mixing pure roleplaying things with opinions of real-life players... Dude... you only embarrass yourself, 'cause you clearly can't tell difference between game and real life. It is not sign of healthy mindset, you know ;/
  3. Temporaly we can just sent PM to board mods...
  4. ...and we definetly need better supervision in community portal or at last some kind of teporting tool - I just stumbled upon on corp with... "questionable content" in description and I cannot report it directly to mods ;(
  5. But point is, WHICH features devs should add first
  6. Hi, This is rather question to our community manager (I summon @NQ-Nyzaltar !), but you can respond too Community portal is fun and very interesting in terms of community growth, but it lacks some purely technical features - for me two main concerns are: impossibility to edit replies in topic, lack of customize titles for corp members (who is director, who is legate, who is line member and so on...) and "flat" structure of organisations - we already have have powerful coalitions, but they function like "normal" corporations, being different type. I can point few more requests, but I rather would to know where I can address them? To special topic (like this one , PM Nyzaltar, or some other way? If someone can point me to right direction, I will be grateful. PS: In absence of such topic about community website feedback, I think that we can temporally post our propositions here
  7. Yeah, and this is whole point of "persistent world". If you deplete planet, you must either rob other players to obtain resources or colonize other planet. boyh things generate conflict and move economy - and both are generators of content. If planets will "respawn" we will get some kind of theme park, not a emergent game-play.
  8. TIL Minecraft operate on single-shard server... <facepalm> PS: Mister Developer, you missed a memo about scams called WoW and Eve Online PS2: Gaming business models for dummies: http://www.raphkoster.com/games/snippets/on-pay-to-play-or-mmorpg-business-models-101/
  9. I too, do my taxes myself. It means that I am programmer? Or I win some kind of prize from MENSA? ;0 Again, it is excellent point - devs should check if potential player can do taxes on his own. If not, he should be banned from game (and I mean not only DU game, but every game ever!)
  10. You are more intelligent than us, 'cos you know math and we don't. We got the memo already (about 1000 times now). But it CAN be done like this, by simplifying input methods, giving players pre-made "blocks" and so on. Again: you and rest of IT guys will have all possibilities to code whatever you want. Why you try to restrict others to have fun in some basic programming? PS: I already know answer, but I remain silent, cause it is somewhat embarrassing for so called "programmers elite" XD
  11. Proficient coders will have upper hand, there is no doubt in that - and I do not want fight with it. But point of this topic is quite different - to lower "entry point" for non-programmers as much, as possible. And "quality" of code have nothing to do with it. No worries, you, as a pr0 haxxor, will be impregnable on your coder's high horse. It is like riding a bicycle - normal people don't stand a chance with trained sportsman, but I does not mean that we must make all bicycles impossible to use by rest of population. PS: There is special place in digital Hell for "git gud" type of player, I assure you
  12. I fully second Kiklix statement. And I can even add that only real soldiers should have permission to do PvP. And only real-life pilots will be allowed to operate starships, because random player can do lot of damage by flying without proper training. Maybe even devs should create some sort of authentication/license system to be sure that any filthy casual do not do any unregulated stuff IN GAME?!! Think of the children! PS: Maybe even posting on forum should be allowed only after extensive psychological screening and series of oral/writing exams? It will drastically rise quality of forum content, I am sure
  13. But such locations have uniqe look, very "climatic"... and it will be good system to drive players to exploration - you deplete one planet, and you must move to another to expand. And abandoned mining colonies are perfect places for secret military/pirate bases, magazines of illegal goods and areas for any kind of shadowy operations... Look at this... and tell me that you do not want such map in game (and it will be 100% made by players!)
  14. Oh, sweet summer child.... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloodbath_of_B-R5RB
  15. If you put it in that way it is ok. But "acquiring skills by doing" = grind in most cases. Maybe I miss word "real", but better be safe safe, than sorry
  16. You mean grind. We all say big NO to Korean-MMO-style grind
  17. Hmm. But currency in physical form - like cards, chips, coins or whatever - sound really promising. It can be stolen, you must carry/store it, you can loot another player... "Virtual" currency (only numbers on some account) is somewhat less appealing. PS: Can you imagine level of logistic operation to perform if you will need transport few billions of currency to pay for capital ship?
  18. It is perfectly clear. We are visited by some kind of extraterrestrial alien lifeform, and it try to communicate with us. But due to heavy pollution of Earth atmosphere, signals come somewhat distorted and obfuscate.
  19. Not yet, but we expect Alpha in early 2017
  20. For Cpt. Kirk sake. Can we stop use "I personally don't like this price" argument in this discussion? You are one single player, period. ONE. And your whims are little important to overall economic strategy of game studio. We for instance can discuss how any of pay model influence numbers of players, mechanic, PR and so on - but I beg all of you, do not use totally personal arguments. I too, can state "I do not like sci-fi, make this game medieval, or I do not pay for this!". And what? Have some common sense and decency ;< btw. EVEN this 10-15 $ range is WILD GUESS. So, we even don't know IF game will be cost as much - but someones can rant about it all day long ;/
  21. This is wonderful idea! Maybe @CharlesAugustus will rather compile such storybook from other players novels, and with player-made illustrations rather than write whole book by himself? We can do it as mini-comptetion, maybe with help of @NQ-Nyzaltar. Eve Community did something similiar, with good result.
  22. They will be on start. https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/841-ask-us-anything-event/?p=10772
  23. But average cost of subscription (WoW, EvE) is about 15 USD - and for reason. Devs do not charity work, they want to earn something too... 15 USD is normal market price for game like that... it is argument like "i want brand new porsche, but it must cost less than 1000 bucks". Sorry, quality must cost...
