  1. If there's a bug, report it to the devs, and it'll get fixed. No need to have players screwing around with the game, trying to fix the bug themselves
  2. This is what Alpha and Beta are for
  3. What about a console like in star trek? If it's not in the game, then it's just not in the game. Can't change that.
  4. Well, the game is an MMO, so IDK how you're gonna implement the mod without making everyone else download it to (unless there's some way to mod MMOs, idk)
  5. Halo381

    Nukes

Now thats an interesting way of handling things Though, if it were up to me, I'd just travel so far away nobody bothers coming after me
  6. Halo381

    Nukes

Then you really shouldn't be here, tbh.
  7. Planets are not constructs, therefore they could not be made into spaceships, and thus cannot be fired at one another. That'd crash the server, anyways.
  8. Not really. The two games are based around entirely different concepts. NMS is all about exploration. Get to the center of the galaxy as fast as you want, and discover a ton of crap along the way DU is all about emergent gameplay, and creating a new world for yourself.
  9. I mean... are you trying to make a point here?
  10. Ah, but "need" is an objective term. You certainly don't need a group of people helping to be successful. What we're getting at here is the resource draw and the simple time it takes to do certain things would make it more efficient to work in a group. Sure, you can build a stargate by yourself. But it could take months to gather the resources on your own. If you want to go at it alone, fine by me, but an organization could probably get the job done in a few weeks, compared to your months. I believe I said it in a previous comment, but it's not like you have to join a massive corporation or anything. Heck, having two other people with you would exponentially increase your profits. For all intents and purposes, you're practically still solo gaming, just with a couple other soloists with mutual interests.
  11. Imagine if the automated defenses still worked; gotta fight your way into the control center to shut off the turrets and claim the city
  12. 100kg really isn't that heavy though....
  13. Idk if it'll be possible to reach another planet from a mass driver on the surface. I assume you'd need some extra form of propulsion to get you all the way there. now, from space, it's possible. It's simply a matter of "Can we launch car sized objects from a mass driver" and "How can we slow them down"
  14. A player made patent system, maybe? The reason I say player made and not dev made is because the devs usually make less loopholes than players do in terms of stealing a patent or blueprint (unless they're intentional loopholes). There should at least be a chance for it to succeed. Basically, a megacorp receives a request for a patent, and they accept and put out to the universe that anyone but this guy who makes this ship is wrong and should be killed and... stuff. Idk what the penalty would be, besides a fine. It'd make for some interesting new organizations. In Pardus, a game I used to play, there was a faction called the EPS, the Esteemed Pilot's Syndicate. They were like the police of the universe, fighting crime and wrongdoing (on paper, at least. Not in actual gameplay). The TSS, The Shadow Syndicate, was their counterpart. They ran the black market, drug labs, slave camps, etc. Basically, what I'm getting at here is that a system like this might provide the need for a black market, and provide a need for people to police the universe.
  15. But theft is just another aspect of emergent gameplay, is it not? In reality, it's entirely possible that someone would steal another's ideas/blueprints. I figure, while there should be a system in place that can prevent theft, it should not be taken out of the game entirely.
  16. I'd love to make music, but I have neither the software nor the funds to get any software, nor the musical expertise to play an instrument.
  17. I do believe there will be asteroids and the like within the universe, though I don't have any confirmation on that from the devs. However, it'd simply make more sense for something like this to exist in such a game.
  18. I've got a few announcements to make Chromion Industrial has finalized trade agreements with the following organizations: Diverse Unified Alliance Terran Union Vulture Corp. I'd also like to note that roleplayers are accepted, and even encouraged. We'll accept any player, so long as you're polite That's all for today, folks. Stay frosty.
  19. Well this got out of hand quickly. So, what I'm getting from this is that it will certainly be possible, but it's up in the air as to whether this game would be released on consoles or not?
  20. Welcome to the forums! Other than the footage that was released today, a short video that shows someone editing a ship, and the trailer, there is no gameplay footage that has been released. As for places to read about the game, go to http://www.dualthegame.com/ It's got all sorts of info and concept art
  21. Thing is, no one in their right mind would inflate a market like that because then their product would be worthless. What's the point in selling 100 tons of iron a day if you only get $100 for it? That's only $10,000 dollars. If you stockpile and sell it in increments, you gain much more profit. And they prolly couldn't even gather that much unless they had a massive mining ship like you mentioned. Personally, I think massive mining ships are simply a bad idea. Assuming the physics engine is even moderately realistic, as you mine more, your mass increases. Now, when the ship is empty, it can move around fine. As you increase the mass, it gets harder to move, until it's positively snail-like. This is because of inertia. You could offset this by adding more thrusters, but then you'd have to add more power, which requires more fuel, which requires more space to put the stuff, which takes away from space for resources. Simply put, after you go over a certain size, massive mining ships become more inefficient than their smaller counterparts.
  22. Welcome to the Forums! I look forward to having fun and enlightening discussions with you!
  23. Perhaps. Some game mechanic requires you to either execute or release your prisoner after a set amount of time; say, 48 hours. And to prevent abuse, they cannot be recaptured for another six hours or something
  24. You're the only one getting off topic mate. Keep the BS in the PMs, we're here to discuss game mechanics. Personally, I'm against slavery (that's just my heritage speaking) but I think being able to take prisoners should be an option. Think about it: you find a spy and you wanna take him/her to jail. Well, slap some handcuffs on the scrub and tow em away. Perhaps there could a limit on how long you can hold someone, so that the game doesn't become a stagnant "When will they let me out" scenario.
  25. Now, I wouldn't say to actively discourage people from trying is a good thing. However, I don't think things like making travel difficult should be categorized as actively discouraging solo play. Things like that are supposed to be grand milestones that we achieve, and, as the technology in dual grows, travel becomes easier. Building, mining, etc. becomes easier. But in the first weeks and months of the game, I expect we'll be seeing a very team-oriented universe. Perhaps that will drive off too many people, but personally, I believe that's the way to go. They say Rome was built in a day. But it wasn't built by one person. Perhaps a hundred thousand years in the future, it could be, but not at the beginning.
