    Thanks, good to know :)

Generally you always will have the following acess rights too.

So if you buy into Alpha, you can play Beta too.

As rule of thumb for any developeing game out there.

Sometimes they might cut poeple off the server after an big update and let people in perodically in waves.

But that has something to do with allooott of many fact.s

Hi! I didn't find anything explicitly discussing this topic in the forum so excuse me if I missed it. I'm wondering about how well asymmetrical ships can fly. As I have understood from the videos explaining ship flight, they are utilizing Newtonian physics, and my first thought was that won't it be more problematic to make asymmetrical ships fly now? I personally enjoy oddly shaped spaceships, for an example Star Wars ships that come in all different shapes and sizes. I don't remember which video it was about shipbuilding, but they had a real-time calculation showing forces on your ship (propulsion, gravity etc.). And there they placed thruster on the sides to make it turn and so on. So, the problem I'm seeing is that asymmetrical ships have a serious disadvantage (as they do in real-life) when it comes to balancing the forces affecting it. Can this problem be solved or is it a non-issue? Because if you just clutter to whole damn ship with these thrusters just to balance it will most likely look ugly. For an example I think the B-wing look really cool but trying to replicate in DU and make it fly might be a challenge. Maybe a work around could be that you can place thrusters beneath a thin layer of the hull or something, just to keep the aesthetics of it. Of course, that won't be an immersive thing to do, but for the sake of the looks I hope it could be accomplished. Other things I'm also thinking about are core-centering versus cockpit-centering in 3rd person view. But that's all for me now, I hope you guys have something that might help with this problem I'm seeing OR is this a non-issue, that I'm just overthinking it, making it more complicated than it really is? Anyway, enjoy this cross-section picture of a B-wing!

Just to answer an old post.

You can make any shape flight worthy. Or even as good as a perfect ship.

The only thing that you will need is MORE time and MORE knowledge spent on it.

So yeah it's easyer to make an sphere fly the way you want it.

Then it would be to make a big lump of an uneven mass.

If you aren't an aerodynamics engineer, you probably will need a bunch of trials to make such a starwars spaceship "air tight" in it'S flight behavior. But it is certainly doable. But that shipdesign you showed, is actually pretty nifty and easy to tune.

Thank god (or NQ :P ) that we can make blueprints of our constructs or there would be LOT's of tears when a construct is destroyed/damaged  ;)

Sadly to say that was on another voxelgame :3.

But basically any voxel game should be capable of makeing anyweird shapes you ever require.

Google Landmark Voxelmancy and a few examples and tuturials will pop up.

Bound to be PREETTTTYYY similar, as i think the voxel engine comes with a bunch of tools prepacked from it's creator.

Only the tidbits of sharpeing these tools to Dual might be leftover.

Something like this thin rod should be feasible even in DUAL.

A few examples from Landmark, RIP dear old friend. And damm you Sony ...

  4. @Thainz yes! Every shape is possible, you just need to be a good voxelmancer and make it~ I have seen people pull of crazy complicate shapes, but it took them hours to make them just right.

  5. Well your question is mostly answered.

But here's a tid bit of a reason.

Atm we're testing stuff, not playing for the pure fun of an finished game.

This is pre-alpha atm, soon maybe Alpha1. Where soon can be anywhere between "Now" and "December ... or further", as no timeline has been given out. Just that they're trying to get it out when ready~

And as for if 180 Pack is worth it.

Yeah, you get 12 dac which should be around 150 Euro worth at the end + some nifty bonus stuff like the pet's+outfit+sancturial terrotory unit.

Nothing that gives you "dat ueber op boost" just stuff to make the start a bit easyer and aesthetics.

Everyone needs to decide for themself if they want to spent that much money. But it's a simple calculation thingy:

    (where i life)

    - 120 Liter of good beer (about a year or so worth)

    - 12 pizzas + a drink at a restaurant

    - 30 packs of cigarrets (600 pieces probably)

    - two medium priced pair of shoes

    - three jeans

    - 10~15 books

    - around 25 manga volumes

    - etc

I luckily had some spare room in my gameing budget this year.

Atm used just 90 bucks of that ... + DUAL.

    Hello Alpha team

I am Damian Firecaster legat of the Core worlds Coalition. I am a former Everquest LANDMARK builder,  Current Space engineer and second life resident. I wanted to see How many Alpha team members are also former LANDMARK voxel mancers (Master voxel builders). You guys are going to show JC/novaquark just what a voxel engine is capable of doing. Also we need to test this engine to see if we can do micro voxels and negative voxels. so sound off. gentlemen and Ladies. we know what our job is, we have been down this road before ( Everquest Landmark) stress test, find every bug in this game and get it fixed, as with landmark we will find Some bugs that we like and that can be turned in to features such as the a fore mentioned micro voxels and negative voxels. we might find others. but our job is to get this planet / game ready for the other colonist that are asleep on the Arkship. My job will be to explore this planet and find resources. I look forward to meeting you guys again, some of you I know from landmark. It will be great to get back to building in voxels like we did in landmark. but this time our creations will FLY !!!! If you see me in game please say hello, I enjoy meeting people. to all other Members of the Alpha team, if you need assistence with building tools or building I will help some. the Ships I will be building are the S.S. Ram (Luxury yacht/Mobile Home (unarmed)), CWC Wolverine (Science-Command ship (ARMED)), CWC Amazon (Runabout(armed)).

Good luck to all of you.

    Damian Firecaster

    Core Worlds Coalition

    I was in Landmark too.

Was fun times. Till sony sold it and the ceo fucked it up.

:3 could have been a perfect mix of building game + everquest next adventures.

I hope that we will have as many or more choices to manipulate voxels in here someday. Not much info on that out there yet.

And most official realesed  pictures are clunky :3.

  7. Given how LUA works here.

I doubt you could communicate with other ships and structures without linking something from your construct to they'res.

Migh tbe possible for a fleet, if they have an fleet coridnation UI LUA script and every ship has an Screen + programming board linked to a central one at an flagship.

But the question is ... are intership/construct links even possible?

Or can you make LUA push out an chat message on an channel, where other LUA script picks it up and uses it.
