  1. I think you missed my point where I mentioned that without the right to mine on your territory, it likely wont be physically possible.

I don't know about this, if you set the flag to not allow entry into your territory, they can still enter it and just get flagged as an intruder.  So whats to say that if you don't have mining permissions, and you mine anyways, it just flags you as a claim jumper/thief/intruder.

  2. IMHO, it would be best to not have a game based currency.  Let us trade resources instead, because value is in the eye of the consumer, not usually the seller.  Also if a currency eventually gets set, I think it should be player made.  Just like irl, Governments made it, and it was up to the people to accept them or not.  let everyone that wants to try and be a banking organization make the currency, and worry about making more or less.  Then if more than one currency gets made, its up to us the players to decide which one we support and use.

I know the devs said this is not going to be how it is, but release is a long way off, and I hope through testing we can change their minds on how to do the currency system.

  3. i think there will be a large city there, as every organization will want to at least build an embassy in a safe area.  The IBO will probably have its main branch there, etc.  so in two years lets say, its all covered with skyscrapers etc, the new player will be doing the quests we give them there.

Depending on the wealth of the Organization, they might give them access to a ship as soon as they join. Launching them out of the system to maybe a newly discovered safe zone, to help build there as well.

  4. from what I have seen, they are saying that mining and building both have separate permissions to turn on or off for people.  So if mining is off, can we mine at all or does mining then flag us as an intruder?

They said we can flag who can enter the territory as well but anyone can enter it it just flags you intruder if you don't have permission.  Also if your not allowed to you can open doors either, so you have to attack them with weapons to destroy them....

So yes finding the TCU is going to be hard especially if we can place it anywhere we want and not be confined to the center of our tile.  Then getting to it is also going to be hard.  I think thats the point though it shouldn't be easy to go take someones territory.

  5. Me and the darkside have a lot in common!

We both have a substantial supply of cookies.

Other than that, I'm a massive fan of the Elite series, and I play Dangerous reasonably regularly (missing out on that Alpha due to hardware constraints at the time), but only in Solo, so jumping into a MMO Universe such as DU is something I have not done since Final Fantasy XI over ten years ago.

I'm not really sure how I would like to get into Dual Universe. In FFXI I attended several groups that did a variety of events, even led or co-led several of the groups, but often those events would last for upwards of 5 hours. As much as I would like to find some form of group, health issues now limit my play time quite drastically, and I'm not really sure if I can commit to regular, lenghtly event nights.

I think I like the idea of "space odd-job man". Not tied down to a event schedule but being availiable to anyone who needs an extra gun in their fleet, or maybe help with a settlement, or in need of a space bus or delivery boy. Or if you simply want to strap me to the outside of your ships hull as some extra shielding.

For cookies, of course. All the cookies. MOAR COOKIES.

you sound like you would fit in perfectly with The Outfit,  check us out at,  https://community.dualthegame.com/organization/the-outfit#tab-description

  6. Not sure if this has come up yet.  I couldn't find a post about it.

I'm wondering why the community page only displays 10 organization featured posts.  Also wondering why you cant click on the other categories like latest posts and top posts.   I'm in the galactic empire and we had had some issues with posts.  One reason we posted so much was only 10 posts come up for hundreds of orgs.   I suggest having many more.  Kinda like on some sites where you can just keep scrolling down forever.  I also suggest maybe making it so a org can only have 1, in the featured section. That org should be ale to choose their own featured post, to be displayed publicly.  Let me know what you think.

I love this idea, it fixes what the others have been bitching about, and at the same time allows Organizations to still have tons of posts that don't get featured.

  7. As a future developer in Dual Universe, the idea of DACs as payment seems like an interesting prospect.  But the more I think about it, the more it seems like a bit of a d-bag move on the part of the developers.  I don't want this to be an overtly negative post, but bear with me..

I intend to be creating a whole lot of stuff in game, ships, defenses, tools, etc. with full Lua scripting to back them all up.  These things will take a TON of time to develop if you hope to have a decent result from them.  However, with the Dual Access Coupons being the only *real* form of payment I can hope to receive in game, it kind of feels like a bit of a face slap.  Think about it.

I spend 25 hours working on a super awesome engine control module with advanced auto-maneuvering for someone who requested it custom.  Joe Space Captain goes to the Dual website and buys himself two DACs to give to me as payment for the work I did. Great, I got this month and next in game for free as payment.  = 30 Euro savings or whatever for me.

Now, instead of a custom job, I make a super awesome base turret blueprint that I sell on open market.  Let's say 250 people buy it at 500 credits each, and I trade those 125,000 credits for 5 DACs that people are selling on the market.  What happened here?  I now have 5 free months in game, which I may or may not ever use, but NovaQuark just made 75 euro in real money cash for all of that work that I did. Once I start collecting DACs like candy because now 10,000 users have realized how good it is and have purchased my super-awesome turret, NQ is rolling in the money for work I did, and those DACs I accrued have become virtually useless to me.

Obviously, I made assumptions the monthly fee is 12 euro and DAC are 15 euro.  Actual cost doesn't really matter.

The more I make and sell on market, the more trivial the DACs will become. Meanwhile, NQ makes tons of constant value cash on my work. My alternative would be to just hoard the in-game currency, which has equally nil real-world value.

I have to imagine that with this system of payments, serious developers and builders will eventually just start dealing outside of the game and make contracts to do in-game work with payments in real cash.  That's the only way it would actually be worth it to build things over the long term.  All of the really good stuff in game will only be accessible through various user-run black markets outside of game, with in-game market only used for trivial purchases just to get items transferred and to earn the in-game money needed for resource accumulation.

I could be wrong, but that's what I foresee happening. What are your thoughts?

if your intention is to make real life money from your in game work, why complain that the only way to do it is through an out of game black market?  or are you just making a long post to suggest something like that be added to the in game markets????  I personally think that this is a game, and not meant to be a business model for us players.
