  1. The iOS app is much better, but I have held off on posting a link to it until the version that supports 9.0+ is available in the app store because the current version only supports 11.1+ and people didn't want to update.
  2. Er, scratch that. It looks like the Android version is in the Google Play store now. I didn't write this version, I wrote the iOS version so I don't have any control over how it looks. I can certainly have someone put together a nicer looking version, but on Android we went with functionality over looks. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dumfradio Alternatively, the station was submitted to TuneIn and should be available by next week through that app if you don't want to use the standalone app
  3. I've just submitted the first version of the iOS application for review to the App Store. I should know within a few days if it's been accepted or not. The Android version will be ready for submission next week, at which point the application review process should take another few days to complete.
  4. @Astrophil I can get these to run every few hours on the radio station if you'd like me to. Let me know if you want me to put them up there (or which episodes or whatever)
  5. I love that documentary, I've seen it about 5 times now.
  6. The station doesn’t only work on iOS, and like I said, I am working on apps for both platforms. ios has nothing to do with this.
  7. Sorry about the issues tonight, we've been testing the ad rotation settings so you may have heard music skipping as we were testing. Wanted to get the schedule set up and all the rotations in place before I published the website here Thanks for tuning in though
  8. Just wanted to add some updates here about the current progress. We have a few DJ's signed up. DJ's are assisting with uploading music to the server (this does not put them on a playlist). We have over 50gb of music uploaded so far. We have several commercials running at intervals (every 8 songs) but I am going to change that behavior as we get more ads. Several people on the schedule (although not configured on the server yet). The iOS app needs images to be complete. It syncs with Apple computers too, such that you get a cool little icon on your taskbar if you're using chrome that you can use to search for the currently playing song online. We need producers. Producers are people who manage playlists and schedules. I'm not just allowing anyone to do this, as it's a bit of a big responsibility. Work is ongoing on the website, but should be somewhat usable very soon. If you want to test out the stream, send me a pm on discord
  9. I don't have a policy on it, just no pornography (obviously). I would ask that you hold off on too much profanity until the app goes through the store approval process, because they have to run the app to verify it adheres to their rules and if they happen to tune in while people are cursing it might not get approved. That shouldn't take too long though.
  10. Thank you, I would like your post if I hadn't run out already today >_< Please do! We're going to need all the ads and content we can get! I've been listening to the station as I've set it up, and with the ads we've received so far, it sounds really bada**!
  11. I do, but we've gotten in contact now so this is more for anyone else who comes along with the same question
  12. After a bit of a hiatus for -reasons- I am pressing forward with continuing the development of a Dual Universe specific online radio station. This is being done under the banner of the in-game organization, "Alioth Broadcasting Corporation" I am currently working with one other person making this a reality, and we currently have a radio stream running for demo purposes that has the following capabilities: 24/7 Broadcasting AutoDJ'd playlists Scheduled DJ's (where DJ's can login during their assigned timeslots for live broadcasting) Real-time Album Art Retrieval The general things one would expect from an online radio stream. My wife, who is super awesome, is currently working on a website for people who want to listen live on the web as well. This should be ready within a few days, but ongoing modifications will be made to it to add features like album artwork refreshing in real-time and an interactive schedule for shows. I also plan on eventually adding archived shows automatically, though that may not be ready for some time. All of that being said, the station is not ready for mass consumption, as we have several things we want to get in place before we give it out to the world. Which brings me to the purpose of this post. We are currently looking for people who would like to contribute, more specifically the following: #1 priority at the moment for me is finding an artist who would like to help make logos (for the website, as well as the mobile apps) We are taking submissions of all types of content, and anyone who has music/shows/podcasts/commercials/whatever is welcome to submit content that will be broadcast on the station. This includes recruitment advertisements from ANY organizations (must be safe for work). We are taking applications for people who would be interested in dj'ing live on the station, this is not limited to music but also anyone who might want to run a talk show or anything along those lines. Again, any organizations are welcome to take part in this. If you want an hour-long show talking about your org every week, you are more than welcome to do so. I am currently working on an iOS application (DUFM) that will make its way into the App store where you can listen to the station live on your iOS devices. In conjunction with this work, an Android application is also being developed. When both applications are ready for distribution, I will work on getting them into their respective app stores for downloading. They will remain 100% free forever. I estimate they should be ready for distribution before the end of the month, perhaps sooner if we can get the artwork squared away. Honestly, the only thing holding them back at the moment is artwork that needs to be created or modified. All of this is being done for the community for free, I will not charge for publishing content, nor will I charge anyone to listen to the station ever. I won't accept donations for this either. The purpose of this isn't to make money, it's to bring audio content to the community. I would like for this to be a community-driven thing, hence anyone being allowed to submit content for broadcasting. I will not charge money (real or in-game) for ads being published on the station either. I'm not here to make a quick buck off people in any form. If you're interested in submitting content, have questions, or are wanting to help out in any way, please contact me on discord @ http://discord.me/dualuniverse . I most likely will not be responding to replies on this thread. Alternatively, applications for a spot on the schedule (talk show/dj) can be filled out here: https://goo.gl/forms/H3GIX9sJQH3f6r7n1
  13. I just used the art from the website: https://www.dualthegame.com/press and various other screenshots and concept art pieces that are floating around either on the website or google.
  14. The game was designed from the ground up starting with the networking engine, the client depends on the server to run. Even so far as when they demoed the game at various conferences, they had the client and server running on the same machine. Dual Universe is an MMO, expecting them to make a single player version would be akin to expecting Blizzard to release an offline version of World of Warcraft. If you're looking for those things in a game, Dual Universe is not going to be it. Dual Universe is an MMO. It will never be a single player game. "Private investors and backers have supported the game for the original vision, so no development time will be spent to deviate from this vision. This is one of the few topics that aren't opened to discussion." There doesn't need to be anything else said about the topic. It's not happening.
  15. : April - 2427 - Earth : : Luz - Located in what was Colorado within the former United States - Known for Heavy Luminous Influence in the region : Katherine kept a pack of menthol cigarettes hidden away at the bottom of her purse. She let no one in on her dirty secret. It was only in times like these, stuck in line waiting for the next shuttle to the city, that she would dig one out, look cautiously around for any familiar faces, and let a nicotine buzz ease her problems away. The line began to move again. She dropped her cigarette without putting it out and sprayed a dash of Burberry Brit, practically as valuable as liquid gold, on her neck. Even the closest loved ones to her were unaware of the secret habit, something that would become a recurring theme in her life. Her boyfriend Greg, a label he self-applied in a drunken haste, gave Katherine a hug as she walked into his apartment. He was too caught up in his own elation and eagerness to return to his work to notice the lack of emotion in her reciprocated advances. Over the past few months Katherine felt as though she was forgetting who she was, and in doing so had forgotten why she loved the 30-something-year-old artist holding her now. She could dye her hair again, that was her typical response to these fleeting moments of emptiness. 'No, that just won't work this time', Hiding her discomfort as she kissed Greg on the cheek. "I'm going out tonight", barely giving him a moment to say goodbye before the door was closed and the apartment was quiet again. That was the last time he saw or heard from Katherine.
  16. The fearmongering being spread through this thread is a bit disingenuous considering that nobody actually asked me how the authentication actually works or what is being collected (regardless of the fact that all of it is open source and available for anyone to look at). So I will break it down here. It doesn't matter if you know how the hash is generated, in fact, I'll tell you that it's an MD5 sum of the Discord User ID. Having a way of generating a users hash does absolutely nothing for you trying to authenticate as them against the forums because a hash is tied to a specific Discord ID. The auth tool generates the hash for a user (from their ID) entering a command and validates the hash on the forum against it. Even if you know another user's hashed ID, you're not going to be able to do anything with it. Many people have connected their discord accounts to their forum accounts and have left their hashes up publicly. Again, a hash by itself is useless. Unless you have access to the bot by changing its source code and somehow breaking into the container that it's being hosted from, you're not going to get the bot to accept someone else's hash against your own discord id. And if you were going to go to all those lengths, you may as well change the source code to just give you the roles without having to auth at all. The only way someone is going to link to a profile that isn't theirs is if someone convinces another person to post that message on the forums on their behalf, which would be akin to sharing your password or account with someone. Manual verification of ATV status and pledge statuses has been going on for far longer than any of the auth bots have been around for other Discord's that are out there. The only thing the auth bot does is makes it an automatic process. Someone could just have easily taken advantage of the manual verification by having someone else send a message on their behalf. The only things being saved are the forum profile links and the pledge statuses (if made public on the forums). If you don't want your pledge status tracked (which only gives out colored roles to founder pack backers) then make your pledge status private on the forums. We're not saving anything that you're not already giving away by virtue of having a public profile on the forums. And this is only if you go through the account linking process. We are not scraping the forums collecting data on anyone who has not explicitly agreed to it by using the auth tool and running the ~linkprofile command. If you're concerned about what is being stored, again the source code is all open for anyone to look at (and more importantly, submit patches) here https://github.com/yamamushi/du-discordbot I've been working on a phone app for Dual Universe, but considering how much people complain (and it's always the same people) about everything else I get involved in for whatever reasons, I'm not really sure I want to continue at this point.
  17. Pledging is no longer available for founders packs, they ended In September. New supporter packs will go on sale by the end of the year (or thereabouts). They will not be the same as the founders packs.
  18. Growing up in Texas, I attended my fair share of High School Football games. Seeing a high school football game in Texas is something that I think everyone should see at least once. Some of the schools have multi million dollar stadiums that would blow your mind away (I think I read recently about one that cost 40 million dollars...). “Friday Night Lights” is a real thing. I think watching football is generally more entertaining than watching baseball, but this world series was pretty great to watch. I don’t really keep up with sports of any kind though haha.
