  1. some times i think if this game will not be to realistic for a game, i mean, i want have fun, not an other job....

Think of it as 'real life' that has no threat in failure. You can break the 'law', kill people,  go into exploration, mess around giving flowers to passersby praying to the almighty hello kitty, design ships and buildings, the list is endless. Think of something that you want to do and do it without any threat of real repercussions (well, apart from a few things set by NQ, but they are set for a good reason and mainly involve around real life entanglement, such as hacking someones account or harassing them in chat). If the venture leads to you fail, you pick up the pieces and carry on. You need to remember that it is just a game, don't work for someone in game that you don't want to. I, personally, usually don't play games for fun, I play it for satisfaction of a task well done.

  2.
You want to have a faster production line?

You said Rent OR time penalty, so if they chose rent, its manageable, if they chose time penalty, than well, depends how much % it will be charged. Only way is to see how it will work.

My current understanding of the arkified territory areas is that you have to pay rent to own it. So it's either just rent or rent AND time penalty (I would be for the latter). What happens if you don't/can't pay rent is unknown, maybe it becomes as vulnerable as the non-arkified TUs (which would defeat the purpose of the safe zone) or maybe it gets taken over by the AI and put up for auction (which would allow territory capture by economics in the safe zone).

  3. The thinking behind this is the need to get people away from noob town. But also to hook people in to the game by giving them some form of progression so they feel like the time spend is worth something. Hook, Line and Sinker.

Sadly we can't have the tutorial section out of 'The Gam3: Opening Moves (by Cosimo Yap)' (which I would highly recommend to anyone here).

  4. This is what i dislike, you add what ever is on your mind and believe it your self, how and where did logistics even enter the picture ?

And while a can agree to EvE being superior in many ways to other MMO's and DU being inspired by EvE the amount of paralles and reference thrown from your side is just stagering :)

Logistics is a main part of the game. Its what keeps all of the facilities running and its what many people will be doing (the main game revolves around resources and their inevitable journey into being used to make more resources, be that by mining equipment or by bullet). You cannot have a discussion about a game mechanic and not have its effect of logistics and the economy mentioned.

Twerk is someone who has seen enough to understand how this kind of game works (the economy based MMORPG that just happens to be in space). Whilst he may come off as rude or aggressive, he is right (most of the time). Making people look like fools is how he gets the point across, and when you start yelling at him for making you look silly, his job is done.

  5. It sounds like something worth investigating, but those cons are severe. However, another Pro is that portions of the economy would not be locked away when a player unsubscribes since they would still be able to use their money in transactions.

My take would be that those on trial would have skills locked to a certain degree (maybe level 2 or 3, depends on how that works) and then will be unable to play for free once the trial ends. Maybe players who used to be subscribed would have their access reduced to trial level until they re-sub (maybe??). Overall, I'm against having an element where you can play for free since that would reduce the income per player (which is important as the more players you have, the more server space you need) and possibly reduce focus on getting new content (and I mean actual content, not cosmetics) or mechanics. The game is not focused around (relatively) large amounts of people, but consistent amounts of people.

Maybe when a subscriber ends his subscription, they still get to walk around but have no access to their vehicles (or any meaningful interaction with the game world, which may include chat) and must rely on others to transport them around (maybe for a fee). They would effectively be spectators with a wallet (aka, tourists). This means that people can check up on how things are doing at their base/org without having to re-sub. After they re-sub, they would return to where they were at the end of their sub, so you cant use it for moving across the galaxy. Whether you would be able to get shot in tourist mode is another question (one which I don't have an answer for).

  6. They do not necessarily have to have a deity, they could worship an idea (like tech superiority or purity) to a fanatic degree.

But anyway, isn't this a thing that will just happen because of the community and completely out of the control of everyone else? All hail Space Hello Kitty? By Vectron's will it shall be done?

  7. Afawk you can do that. And only because you think a lowtier shield exists (which I'm not aware of) doesn't mean it's cheap. There has to be a significant cost to it plus the maintenance otherwise people like me would be running around and taking space just to annoy others.

A low tier shield would probably be mid-high tech stuff, as there are other ways to defend an area. It might only be able to absorb damage from outside the shield, such as orbital bombardment or artillery. This means that you would only get to use close-quarters tactics (though this also depends on the terrain inside) such as infantry and close support airstrikes.

  8. what are you talking about, there are means to protect it, it's even stated in that quote! They often said that there'll be an energy shield (and an enemy can't go inside, otherwise why would you put a shield?), and that probably there'll be unmanned defenses. So you can't enter a tu zone and start killing people ( unless that guy placed his tu 5 minute ago, and his energy shield is not online yet, but you wouldnt have anything to defend either in that case)

From my interpretation, the energy shield does not come pre-installed and/or requires significant power to function. In my opinion, the energy shield is the next best thing to a safe-zone, as only those with massive firepower can defeat it in a straight up battle, so it should be costly to obtain and keep running. There should be tiers of defence available, else Johnny Cheese can just place several TUs and leave them there to stop pirate raids or unwanted travel due to an impassable energy shield.

The ability to waltz into a TU's area does not mean you can waltz through doors, hence a defended area will at least have a wall and gates, not to mention how defended access to any hangar bays you would leave your ships in. I believe there was confirmation of defence turrets that automatically fire upon those who are designated by RDMS, which should help increase defence capabilities of those who need it. Also, reliance on an energy shield to protect you means you neglect other methods of theft, such as spies or hacking.

Don't always think of things on the macro, army vs army, scale, since there are also forces who work by stealth or hit and run who would be useless against a defence against an army being the only way in. Not everyone is there to take the TU (what the shield is for), just something that happens to be inside it's borders.

  9. For the sake of reference please quote NQ on this one. Because I think you might be wrong here

Most of what we know about TUs are here: https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2015/07/24/territory-control/

Specific quote on 'war' (taking and holding) is all we have on combat oriented TU interaction:

Now, a few words about war. You can get control over a territory by “convincing” its owner or administrator to give a delegation to you, or, more traditionally, you can enter it, find the territory unit, destroy it and plant your own, or simply hack it. Expect it to be well hidden and well defended. Territory Units can also be grouped into centralized territory units: getting access to those can grant you control over several tiles at the same time, but of course they will be harder to conquer. Setting up a territory unit can take up to 24 hours, so the process of changing tile ownership is not an easy matter. By default, all delegations will be preserved in case of a change of ownership (which can also happen peacefully via selling), so you need to review the status to decide if you want to keep or break previous delegations. Delegations, like power granting, can come with warranties, so be careful of the price to pay before revoking past commitments.

Please note that the ability to change "whether you can enter it" via RDMS simply means that you will be flagged upon entering the area, not an invisible wall stopping you (you would need a shield for that, which might not stop you as we don't know if it can).

  10. If attackign a well-protected TU pretty much REQUIRED a siege to occur, then storing a ship at a friendly TU would still be fairly safe. Perhaps immobile constructs will have access to much harder shielding, or an emergency shield system that kicks-in when the base is under attack and EITHER lasts a # of hours or requires an invasion force to attack it to bring it down faster. Stealing or grieving a ship is a crime of opportunity, if it is too inconvenient, then the typical player will leave it there. Thus storing a ship at a TU would require an invasion force or a very patient fairly well-equipped player to destroy/steal (and you'd lose your ship if someone was also after the territory of course).

    hence my earlier statement of:

Its called keeping inside a secure hangar or having so much defence that only pros would attempt it, at which point there is no stopping them

  11. Hopefully there will be safe-ish ways to store constructs in a hex with a friendly TU. If the only way to protect a construct is to park it in a safe zone, then AFK raiding is going to be a rampant issue lol.

Perhaps something a bit less robust than the Home Base system in Starmade (where up to one station owned by a faction is indestructible, and everything docked to that station is also indestructible), but even if it were equivalent I'd be cool with that.

Its called keeping inside a secure hangar or having so much defence that only pros would attempt it, at which point there is no stopping them

  12. There's no reasoning whatsoever, they have spoken.  Like it or not, official cosmetics will not involve such things if they have a cosmetic store.

'They have spoken' along with the 'will of the people' is only relevant for a certain amount of time. The vision of the game will change over time, so dealing in absolutes is inaccurate. This is why I said "a lot of this stuff will likely not happen for a while", alluding to the devs capable of changing their minds.

Basically, you should say "Official cosmetics will not likely involve such things..."

  13. The Devs however have unilaterally decided that aliens/furries are not acceptable, because it does not fit their vision for the game.

It depends on how you reason it. If you say that there are a group of people who have devoted themselves to some sort of deity and go around wearing futuristic knight armour, that might work. For non-human looking characters, either genetic modification, cyberware or holograms could work. Its just that a lot of this stuff will likely not happen for a while, and even then only if a quantifiable amount of people want it to be there. Who knows, everyone could start worshipping hello kitty (just as an example).

EDIT: Also, craftable armour does not have to be functional, it could be cosmetic. Assume that this poll is only talking about cosmetic items since that will make the discussion easier to understand.

  14. In the end we should not forget we might see many sovereign or controlled places in DU due to emergent gameplay and whatnot. Even in some worst-case for some: you could just ban or outlaw or frown upon certain styles or clothing - or at least give people odd looks! Oh the psychological pressure!

I'm a fan of immersion n' all but "Oh my immersion, this guy looks silly!" hardly becomes some legit concern if you don't police your areas accordingly, assuming it happens on your ground. In other places you might just have to live with it. Even if nothing "silly" is added in that regard, people can still act silly anyway.

The article of clothing named "hello kitty sticker" is in violation of Terran Union article 6.4B. Remove it immediately or you will be fined a sum of up to 1000 quanta. If you do not pay the fine within 24 hours, know that this fine will be doubled and set as a bounty.

  15. This guy never knows how to read, does he?

I clearly called for a simplistic cosmetic shop that has immersion-enhancing cosmetics.  Having such will gain far more purchases than a hello kitty sticker lmfao

    Welcome to the real world.

Here is an idea, we have a decal system where you can import an image to use as a sticker (since it will only show on you, only the client wearing it needs to have it rather than the server).

Also, rather than have a cosmetics store, we have players that can create cosmetics that you can buy on the market (how this would work, idk). It actually makes sense for players to be making the cosmetics rather than an administrative AI (since the ingame avatar of NQ is the arkship AI).

  16. That's the kind of edgelord I was talking about earlier. :|

That's edgelord stuff. If you play a game and want to be extra "serios", I should - and anyone like me- have the option to ruin your "immersion" into w/e pwoerfantasy you have, by havign Hello Kitty, Duracel or w/e else brand NQ can secure sellign their sticekrs in-game.

If you want to be an edgelord, I should have the option to be an Internet Ad.

I never said that I wouldn't be for cute bunny ears and a pink bow on a space helmet combined with prancing around holding a boom box playing "let it go" from Frozen in an army barracks whilst everyone else is in super serious mode.

The point is, we shouldn't exclude the ability to look 'awesome' (depends on your definition) or 'ridiculous' (also depends on your definition). Let the cosmetic store be varied. If you don't want bunny ears, then don't buy them. My comment about holographic cosmetics is that some people could install a holographic disruptor (primarily to disrupt those pretending to be someone else) that would, as a byproduct, disrupt your fancy cosmetics for a bit (it leads to a bit more immersion, as that is the primary argument as to why things like wings or tails shouldn't be allowed).
