I think NQ can move away from EVE's lame cloaking model. Don't get me wrong, proud Stratios flyboy here, bt I would love to see actual stealth, not harry potter magic or "Romulan" stealth.

I have made my suggestion in the past which is the following :

Magnetometric Stealth = Make your ship out of materials that are not ferromagnetic or magnetic in general - like how Battlestar Galactica's Blackbird oeprates, fully made out of carbon-fbiers to have very little Magnetometric signature, being registered like a space rock.

Gravitometric Stealth = Your ship's mass dictates your signature radius. This works well with the Magnetomteric Stealth idea, since carbon is very light - but not durable. There ain't no such thing as "Ninja Knight".

LADAR Stealth = simple heat emission system, add heat-sinks that decrease your heat emission and detect range.

RADAR Stealth = ship shape dictates your signature on it.

so, a small ship can be stealthy, but a large ship can be "hidden" for a certai nperiod.

So, if you were to make a "black ops battleship" let's say, you'd have a detect radius that varies.

Best part about this, they already have put in Aerodynamic Profiles as shown on the Dev Diaries, which can be retrofitted for Radar and they have showcased their magnetometers for mining in the GDC Steam (visit DU Explorers on youtube to see the video).

LADAR and Mass are easy to implement after that.

I would agree some "cloaking field" can be added, but make it like the Planetside 2 cloak for the AMS-Sunderers - good for concealing when at distance or from flyboys, but up close it's a visible sphere of a "watery" force field.

I'll be the first to say, that cloaking modules in EVE fade in comparison to the awesomeness of Recon Cruisers that are immune to Directional Scan.

I do not mind holes in the lore. It will encourage us to make our own ideas. I also like the idea of stressing that the new lore, or future is more important than the past. the game will mean different things to different people and setting in stone what earth was like before the game starts may limit some people's backstories and concept of their character.

I would be interested in aliens, but not the scifi standard ones. I dont want an alien fishman telling me to go kill 50 novalarks and bring me their spleens.

maybe something so alien we can not understand them. something so beyond it its almost something out of the Cthulhu mythos. or perhaps their ruins and outposts and the quest is to decipher the outpost's secrets. in doing so you get rewards or blueprints. then when you meet that alien it reacts based on what you have done. it ignores you if you havent solved any mysteries. attacks you if you got its mysteries by force, or grants you some info or another quest if you got it by figuring out the puzzles. or any mix, like maybe some aliens respect your brute force instead. but they should be rare and dangerous.

mankind has ventured out into the great unknown. the MORE UNKNOWN there is, the better. the more strange and mysterious, the better. the more humans most work together against the unknown, the better. let mankind's greatest enemy not be himself once more.

side note, when I heard npc I was originally picturing more along the lines of the arkship itself. like the ai. go get me 100 iron ore and I will make you a speeder bike sort of thing. we may have like a suit with the ai in it or the ai may be confined to the ship. I wouldn't want the ai to be there all the time though, I want to feel on my own, isolated, driven to make connections with other humans to survive.

FYI - our (Sohan Deckers) Arkship was built only two-three years before the Final Collision. If that helps.
