I have an idea for this: Zoning. Like in Cities: Skylines for example, you simply can assign a "color" (number, whatever identifier" to a group of voxels which would then get their own RDMS
To identify a group of voxel you need a static/dynamic core unit which already gives RDMS to the asset it results in.

Oh, by the way, is there a compilation list somewhere of all features coming with each version, not at release or refused?

I'm just saying that an exponential increase doesn't work, because people will just create alts to hold land and they'll not pay that amount. So at that point it's better to have a costant increment.
True, the ownership of a tile could be purchased by a ghost organisation then they could give all rights but ownership to the main org making them get all the benefit without the increase int tax
Having controls in place against that will only hinder the organisation and right system like preventing communities (organisation of orgs like nations or alliances) to share rights on multiple tiles

Hi, the forum is in english so if you could at least translate your posts into english so that everyone can understand the content of the thread?
It would be nice

Might have to depending on the time zone hours they pick?
Hopefully they'll let the server live enough time to cover all time zones

1KM... hexagon. Can't remember if it is 1KM sides, 1KM diameter or 1KM radius
1KM radius if I recall right
Also :
@Vellnn Indeed if they implemented exponential taxes it would be reasurring but nothing official has been said yet on the matter

It would be fun to create Challenge Houses where you pay to enter a base and try to get to the chest at the end, if you die on the way, your participation is added to the chest minus a percentage fee.
If video feeds are available it could be recorded and made into a competition fun to watch and bet on.

Well it would be sad if only a handfull of big organisations get all the tiles and none is left for medium or small orgs
The price of the tiles will say it all but I'm worried with the "very expensive" mention :/

I'm glad I get to have a hand at the game even if it is in a lesser version than the promised alpha, what has been shown is already enough to get me started and start exploring and testing the game.
But I'm curious about what are the features that should have been in alpha and will be missing of pre-alpha, still I can't wait untill the 30th of September!
As for it being a good move or not, I think it is a smart move because NDA will refrain most player to leak and NQ trust will prevent a lot of rant as well on the state of the game and if the forum is available to let people's steam out and make the community closer, it should work out pretty well and the rest can be dealt with accordingly

I'm not really fond of the idea of paying an expensive tax each month even if I understand the reason behind it because if the price is too steep, it would'nt be fair to only have rich people owning safezone tiles, it will also make it more difficult to acquire a safezone in the beginning which seems already a difficult task.

"Scripts are run locally on the client, but they can only generate legal actions towards the server. The number of actions per unit of time is also limited (so, if you make a light blink very fast locally, someone next to it looking at it via the server will not see it blink so fast, but some steps will be skipped). Scripts are also sandboxed and limited in number of instructions per seconds, total memory, and of course the set of functions that can be called. "
That was in answer of a comment by the Dual Universe CM on this video :

I think we are all on tiptoe about Gamescom!

For starters on the surface of the main planet to help build a nice City next to the Arkship then surely in every new colony to implement there the services of my organisation

As there is no content checking with voxel I don't see why it wouldn't be okay to not have any for decals.
If this is really an issue, we can have a community-driven organisation that hunts player reported to be out of line in their character customization or in their buildings, warn them to get rid of it or get a sort of punishment such as destroying their assets or being cast out of cities/zones, etc...
It could the one of the role of a Police organisation for example.

Hello guys,
This is a subject that we thought about in the STARS.
In our Entertainment Division, we planned to have reporters live-streaming events all over the galaxy.
In our headquarter or close to it (there is an ongoing discussion between us and Cinderfall about building their Colosseum as a joint project) we want to build a conference/cinema/concert hall where people could sit and watch news and all kind of streams such as races, fighting/survival contests, ongoing battles / explorations, concerts etc...
So we followed the subject and looked around for information , here is what we found :
- Older subject about in-game cameras : https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/659-in-game-cameras/#entry34401
- Interview of JC where the Billboard and Broadcasting subjects have been mentioned : http://dualuniverse.gamepedia.com/Archive:DU_Explorers_Interview_(Sep_17,_2016)#Billboards
As you can see there is a lot of potential and JC said they consider it and may implement it in the future, so voice your approval for it! Let's make it real!

Territory Units [...] It's unknown whether they will prevent disallowed people from entering the territory or if it's simply an alarm that goes off.
Territory units (TU) will not prevent people from entering but will flag them as intruder. It as been answered in the AMA.
If you are flagged as not having permission to mine in my owned territory, can you still dig and mine, and just get flagged for breaking that, or does the game not let you mine or dig at all?
You will not be able to mine, but you will still be able to enter the territory (and be flagged for that), and possibly destroy materials by using weapons (if not in a safe zone) instead of mining equipment. Then you can :
- If someone having the right to activate your scripts aroung, make any script react to this particular event in any way you can imagine like having a sound alarm goes off, set your defenses to react to intruders etc... (see the LUA script devblog)
- Set rights to flagged intruders on your land (edition, mining, etc...) (see the right duties and management system devblog)
Also, the devs are wondering if they might allow simple traps/scripts to be triggered from farther or even run by the server but it would be limited for performance reasons. See last AMA :
You mentioned you have to be within a certain distance for your Lua scripts to be active, what distance roughly is that - a few hundred meters? a continent? a planet? or a solar system?
If your script is using a set of elements, those elements must be loaded to work. After a certain distance, elements get unloaded for performance reasons (no need to show details of things when you are far away). We don't have the exact numbers yet, this will depend on our optimization phase, but you can count on a few hundreds of meters. We may also add the possibility to mark certain elements as being more important, therefore persisting at larger distance, but this will be limited to a few of them for performance reasons.
So if you feel it should be a feature (like myself, push for it here on the forum!)

I agree, it might be easier for programmers to use external databases but since they wish to make LUA scripting as easy as possible they might implement their own stuff.

Yes star gates will be player controlled and you will be able to set up tolls and restrain its access.
However I'm more concerned about the price of such a star gate and it's durability:
- If both are too much then the one controlling the stargates will have too many advantages and it would become wars of attrition
- If star gates are expensive but easy to destoy it will not become profitable to build one at all
- If star gates are cheap and durable, it is not profitable in the long run because there will be too many alternatives and there soon will be gates to jump from one planet to another
- If both are not much then it could be interresting since it would pretty much be constant war over the access control and power will often shift thus maintaining an equilibrium.
-
They may prevent us for accessing external stuff even on our PC with sandboxes for example.
That is why we must tell them how cool it would be to let us do so!

That's the starting suit. The Alpha Member Outfit looks like out of Cyberpunk territories, or even Crysis levels of badass. I believe the things you refer to are the "accessories" of the suit, which means, they are optional.
And yes, an accessory is a cape. Just saying. Space capes.
Where did you get a glimpse of the alpha outfit?
