  1. Twitter said 22 minutes ago that there is 1 hour maintenance.
  2. Excuse me? So the tools, models, music, art etc just come out of thin air? The systems count as content. Expansions are content. Edit: Expansions will introduce new elements and new ways to interact with the world. It needs to be created, it counts as content.
  3. Minor correction, star citizens server structure does not even compare to DU. It splits the world in instances, with a maximum of 40 players per instance. I'm not sure if this is currently in the game or still on their to do list. This might improve over time but they can't do what DU will do or what EVE does.
  4. Ah, but that's not an MMO on the scale of DU. Not even MMO. But I guess I can see what you mean.
  5. Servers cost money. Developing new content costs money. Paying people a decent wage to maintain and operate a mmorpg costs money. Saving a character state is just a small part of the overall picture. NQ has said on multiple occasions that the expansions will be free. So I don't get why you seem to think player generated content means that after the initial development NQ's job is done. Even if no new content is developed operating and maintaining servers cost money. I could write an endless post about why p2p is a more honest business model, why it's cheaper for the player who is invested and why "f2p" was invented and packaged as being "for the player" but I'm not sure if that would advance the discussion. I do think I answered your question.
  6. At the risk of repeating myself one too many times, I want that t-shirt. I'd probably buy a few so I can actually wear them. Please consider setting up a system that allows me to buy a few select items. Although I am aware that this would bring some additional work to the team.
  7. I'm on Android, I always read the newsletter on my phone. I see no obvious things that stand out, it still looks good and professional in my opinion.
  8. I meant buy them from NQ from anywhere in the world. Sorry if I was unclear.
  9. Good question. I'm not sure if locality is a big factor in DAC cost since you can buy DAC from anywhere in the world. At first glance there is little need to transport DAC I think.
  10. I share that opinion. But we have to admit that it's all a guessing game for now.
  11. That's a difficult one. As more money is in circulation price will go up. Why ask 10 if people can pay 15? It's not much different than what we see in real life. At least that's how I see it happening. My issue with prices for ore going down is that there is no automation. Something like scale economics won't work like in real life where armies of machines dig up more than people ever could. Though I can see your line of thinking as well.
  12. I'm not sure if hoarding DAC is the absolute best solution. The cost of a DAC will or should always be in relation to the amount of quanta in circulation. You won't get a 100 Q if people can only pay 50 Q. So by selling your DAC after a year your actual buying power wouldn't be much more because of the prices of things increasing as people accumulate wealth. Naturally since you can't grind Quanta from the world its more complicated. But I think my original thought holds up. You could get a serious economic advantage by selling your DAC early.
  13. If you are still left with questions after reading those threads, feel free to ask.
  14. This is so for many people that follow DU. Hence the excitement and overall positive attitude you'll find here.
  15. Welcome. Enjoy your time here on the forum and in the game later down the road.
  16. They do. And topics naturally drift as the discussion evolves but I think they want to keep the specifics to a single thread so it's easier to collect feedback. It's a massive thread.
  17. That has been and still is a very hot debate. I'm for lootable once you decide to sell it or once it changes hands. Because I don't think it makes sense to have a resource in game that is completely safe. Naturally there are many good reasons for and against. The thread about DAC being lootable linked earlier is a treasure of interesting opinions. Albeit a bit heated at times.
  18. The answer would be under NDA. Please direct your question to the pré alpha section on the forum. Remember participating in the alpha comes with a Non Disclosure Agreement. Breaking the NDA may result in being removed from the test.
  19. I don't do Starbucks, play Xbox, or any of that. I do have a life time subscription. But those are definitely some cuts you could make to play the game.
  20. Honestly, ideally I would like the option to buy some items "a la carte". Buy 2 t-shirts, click here. An extra DAC, click there. Naturally its a tight balance because public perception is tricky. There is another space game in crowd funding that took things a bit too far.
  21. I can understand that. For me it's wanting to buy the t-shirt separately. Though there are probably good reasons why they did what they did. Technical, time, logistics etc. If it makes a difference, the extra stuff we got is really not bad.
  22. True, I keep forgetting it needs to be bought from NQ first. And they aren't cheap.
