  1. I tthink they should and will just focus on alpha for now to get all basic mechanics in there - which is the best they could possibly do. They have a monthly devdiary with video to keep us informed.

I can see such a thing happening later down the road once closed beta is done in 2017 and one or more devs have time to do more of the social stuff.

  2. That's a problem. So I PMed NQ, specially declare that the APIs are "authorized user only".

So the situation is: the price is there, but HFT is impossible. (API data are NOT REALLY real-time, it may refresh 1 time / X minutes)

If they dare use bot on the whole platform, they will get a IP ban with life-long duration.

I will contact with NQ for setting up security measures and emergency procedures.

Can be true or not. Someone will try to abuse that (admin, mod, dev of that platform, whoever has knowledge and access) so to me, it's still a bad idea. Before those bots EVE was way more fun and it was harder to master the market - now every noob can start up that bot and make millions in a matter of days.

  3. Thinking further about this:

    PLEASE DON'T DO THIS

Look at how Eve market bots work: they also use the Read api to get prices instantly on the same station and use that info to feed the real bot (you know, the one which edits prices automatically) with info what to buy and sell. So NO, BAD IDEA.

Even if you have to do all that buying and selling manually you still have a huge advantage over everyone else.

Unless more safty measures are taken by NQ, I'm highly against it

  4. in EVE such an API is valuable and good, because there are NPC stations visible to EVERYONE (we just exclude nullstations with no docking rights and all involved market shenenigans for now) - so this API can fetch prices, quantity and whatnot.

That's a good idea and very valuable but when it comes to DU (First person) with a fully editable world with NO NPC stations at all - I don't want such a general API because there will be plenty of black/hidden markets.

I could see that API happening for certain big markets though.

IF implemented, do it like EVE (for obvious reasons): public information that's available anyway should require no consent, but more personal (in character ofc) information should require the player involved to compile that API so he knows what kind of information he gives away.

  5. when do we on kickstarter get ower reward? such as forum titels =)

thanks for any help in advance =)

The title is automatically if you used the same email. Talk to support if it doesn't work whatsoever.

All other physical rewards are shipped by the end of 2018, as stated on the kickstarter and their homepage

  6. Last generation I would probably agree with you, but the i7 6700 is about 10-15% more powerful depending on the game (It's about 12% more powerful in benchmarking).  If you get the i7 6700k, well... overclocking that beast is a wonderful thing.  However, you are right... it's $100 more, but you do get benefits outside of raw power in photo editing/computational mumbo jumbo.

10-15% isn't something to be laughed at, especially when the CPU could be the potential bottleneck in bleeding edge games... like SC/DU.  The better the CPU, the more ships you will be able to have on screen before lagging ^^

As for a laptop, I wouldn't consider Alienware as the best coarse of action.  I would look at a Razer.

Razer's are probably the slimmest laptops you can get with DESKTOP graphics cards.  The CPU will still be lacking, but... you win some, you lose some :)

$2000 Razer gets a 1060 (which is about 10% more powerful than the 480 I mentioned).  However, the CPU is  an i7 6700HQ, which is significantly less powerful than a desktop CPU.  However, for a laptop it is a phenomenal option, clocking out at only 4 pounds.

You can also get a laptop with a 1080 stuck inside of it, but you would end up paying 2x the price for like 20% gains.  And a laptop that is 2 pounds heavier.

Another option is the Gigabyte Aorus, which is very similar to Razer's lineup, but a little cheaper!  However, their build quality isn't up to snuff sometimes.

yeah....as i said: 10-15% = 6fps AVERAGE. If you only have air cooling you can do 4,3-4,4ghz with the I5 while with the I7 you hardly reach 4,6ghz

if you only game on your pc and only do photostuff on random occasions, an I7 is ALWAYS overpowered. I would rather have the I5 and instead of a gtx 970 a 980 - gpu > cpu.

10-15% IS to laugh at for a normal gamer because your gpu won't likely be able to run it anyway. So that advantage of those single fps is void.

I personally have an I7-6700k but only because a friend of mine works at intel and i get 50%

  7. I agree, if someone want's to throw money at this game to keep it running and the devs here like before EvE Online sold out and became a pay-to-win society with 1 day old toons maxed out.

All it does it bring life into the game and the ability for people who can't afford the sub to be able to play for free and buy it.

The problem with Eve isn't that PLEX (=DAC) per se are pay to win - it's those drugs called "skill injector". That item makes it pay to win because you render the most important variable in the P2W equation useless: training time. As long as there were only PLEX (=DAC) it's fine because you can buy as many as you want and perhaps sell them at an incredible price ingame, but you can't progress faster than anyone else because of skill training times. There's no use in selling DACs immediatly because

    1) you don't get loads of money, because there is none

    2) even IF you got billions of credits for it somehow you still couldn't fly a huge ship albeit you would be able to build it.

    3) there are plenty of problems market wise with this decision I won't cover here

  8. for gaming you don't need an I7. I5 XXXXK is way enough. I wouldn't bother spending ~100€ more just to get 5avg fps more. Save that money and buy a better gpu.

The I5 -K is easily OCd to ~4,4ghz - way enough punch for playing

  9. If not true cloaking. Then perhaps we could have a photon scattering device that diverts the sensors photons being sent out by the sensors (or a localized gravity field that bends the photons around the ship) effectively being cloaked. All under the assumption we are indeed utilizing photons, that travel at speed of light, for our "ping" like sensor readings

That's exactly what twerk was referring to. I approve of this idea
  10. 1.It is not in this section

2.Search the forums shows no response in the list on the first page. In addition, developers answer in the comments.

Therefore, it can be found only by those who have seen it before, or the person who will be systematically read every comment on the forum. I'm sorry, but I'm new member and I can not spend so much time for searching. And thanks to this new topick searchers will find that answer

P.S. We should discuss this topic in more detail in this forum section

huh curios... found that topic with "cloaking" immediatly. But it's hard to find - i agree

  11. Cloaking device. Energy consumption increases exponentially. Unable to fire and make hyperspace travel in stealth mode

    how do u mean "exponentially"?

what is a "hyperspace travel"? (hint: there is no such thing)

You have to prevent afk campers - thats a big point that comes with cloaks.

Your points are already somewhat good - make it expensive in terms of energy usage. Make weapons useless while cloaked, except you have the tech for maybe cloaked bombers or something. There has to be always negative points to counter the good stuff.

Plus, you'd need some kind of detection for defenders. make that hard to detect, make it even nearly impossible when a good engineer is on board.

  12. DU is an MMO so its mechanics should encourage group play while not completely squashing a lone wolf style of game play. This is tough to balance since adding a simple thing like repair nanites could marginalize the group play aspect at least from a repair perspective. But if repairing a massive ship adds no value to group play, nanites might be a good solution, freeing up those players to feed resources into the nanite machines.

    Balancing ideas:

    • Repair using nanites would necessarily be a slow process where as manual fixing is very fast at least in the nano-formers location. So the one is general slow repair while the other is for pin point quick fixing.
    • The nanites element is bulky, fragile and costs quite a bit of power to use. So this will lend itself to repair stations rather than on board every ship except the largest ones
Will it happen? Probably not. But rather than outright dismissing ideas, lets see if there is a way to make them workable (even if NQ will never implement them)

I'm all in for good ideas. But I don't see any good in such an idea when there are just 2 lines of text with no pros/contra, no description, no explanation and no deep thinking about such an idea.

Your points are well written and I can see such a thing happen on stations probably, but to me it still is against gameplay and the implications that come with a mmo.

  13. Back to topic: Center of mass and potentially thrust indicators.

These would be very useful while building on dynamic cores. Ideally a toggle on the construct while it is being built so show or hide these indicators, so that they don't get in the way of actual building.

The static cores will probably not need the center of mass or thrust indicators... since they don't move.

Since they already plan for COM ships, RCS and all those degrees of freedom, I suspect they will implement such indicators. Otherwise it will be a pain to build a ship that can turn quickly in fight to attack a chasing pirate. So I'm convinced they will come up with something

  14. Devs talked about some pets, it's some kind of drones, right? Why not to made defence or mining drones and control them? And remember, its only idea in Idea Box forum, even when it is not possible

Pets != drones. They just follow you.

In order to use lua scripts you have to be online and you have to be near the that construct. Defending drones will have a penalty to damage/accuracy or whatever because no automated construct will be a match for player run things.

    Ninjas:

So yeah, defense drones are senseless imho because they're too weak. And mining drones shouldn't his as much as aI player does, because mining should and will not be automated. So they're pretty useless too imho

  15. In any case, this forum is "Idea Box", so thats an idea. Developers could previously rejected the idea, or will do it in future. I just presented my point of view in the relevant section. As you can see from my profiles, I'm still new to the project and can not compete with the advanced members in this

That's why you should watch all videos then read all devblogs. If you have an idea - feel free to use the search function to look your idea up, perhaps there was someone already before you who had the same idea.

If all of that yields nothing, then please explain your idea here in detail, no one will stop you from that.

But tbh you register at 10:57 and then start lots and lots of new topics. Obviously you never read a devblog. So don't you wonder why people might be annoyed

  16. You can do the first part already with lua scripts. Such interfaces won't be provided by NQ but you have to write that yourself. Be creative about it

You certainly can't and won't control a huge ship alone because that's why this is a mmo and no single player game.

Read the devblogs - you clearly lack Knowledge there with all those topics you start

  17. I am no native english speaker but I only want and need english. As some commands will be english only because there is no word for it anyway, many groups will just speak a mixed english anyway. To me there is no need for extra languages.

But NQ stated that there will be different localized clients later down the road
