  1.

There may be some ways to temporarily trap players, but the developers will very likely make sure there is always a way out. And if somehow someone gets well and truly trapped or imprisoned, you can bet that a GM is going to come running to set them free.

I think a prison system with a bounty you can pay (or ask someone to pay it for you), or with an escape possibility (by aid from the exterior), could be reasonable.

GMs will have a role here about abuse, but if the system is good enough, there's not that much need for it. Also there won't be GMs (strictly speaking) before the release, as NQ said to me GMs will be engaged in a long time, like "not right now".

  2. Have a karma system been discussed? As in you have some way of telling whether or not the people you're dealing with have attacked, killed or stolen from people before?

I'm not advocating this kind of system, but i'm curious to know whether or not is has been discussed.

Yeah. I've hear about Karma so many times here. And I don't like that system. It's like you see someone passing by and you directly know who that is. Tracking down someone should be pure investigating. There will be a bounty system at the very release if we reach the 725k stretch goal on the crowdfunding. The investigator squads would be particularly useless by the way.

  3. Your topic post sounds like you talk to retarded people. If we want to join your Squad, or whatever it is, we'll either directly look up for 'Discord' on google, know for Discord already, or simply click on your link, so no need to say 'You must install the app... blabla ... called Discord Gaming" like a robot.

It's all so clumsy, you don't even present your 'Solar Secure' thing, you could almost provide a link to explain to us, as I won't just read you and know all about it already.

I won't apply for something I don't know what it is.

Before posting, think about who you're talking to and who to express your message. It's not that difficult, you don't post 10 times a day I bet, so come on...

Plus you are in the Solar Empire, apparently you're confused in your communication, and I just feel disappointed a little bit, the Empire and its sphere isn't all like your mediocre post.

I wanted to go on the Discord at first to talk with you all but I'm really reconsidering it now.

  4. Cool idea. You basically want an app that increases your playing time, or more likely follow up and utilize your automatic stuff to craft for example, or to manage...

A gaming app, that is. But it's already been talked about, and it's far away from us. First we need an alpha. :)

  5. It's fine as an option but personally I find it a bit distracting. I actually find voice can spoil the immersion, especially when you can here people around you talking about random stuff.

If done nicely, it will fit as IRL. You must own 5.1/7.1 headphones though, but it would be really immersive. Only the guys passing near you would distinctly hear of, the rest would sound like a crowd sound, like in other video games.

  6. DACs are objects in game, currency is not. For someone to sell the DAC they bought for real money in the market, theyn eed to make it into an item in-game first. Also, currency is a player's progress in the game, either in asset form or currency form.

DACs are not innately lootable. They are turned into an item, then sold for in-game cash. The lootable part comes into play, if the player that bought the DAC for in-game money, tries to resell or hoard said DAC for later on. The player who bought the DAC with in-game money is the one who is affected by the lootable part. And let's be honest, the player that actually wants the DAC for its extra gametime, will consume the DAC on the spot, not hoard it, so the ones who actually need it are covered as well.

Now, if you are goiing to trade DACs in the premises of a place equivalent to a war zone, then that's your fault, not the company's fault for making it lootable.(...)

What I'm saying is, sell the DACs inside a safe zone, in fact, sell ANYTHING in a safe zone. It guarantees you won't be mugged on sight.

The whole point is here. What remain is: "Would we be able to turn our DACs into an item and then back into data in a bank account? Or not?". Of course for even the release of the game that's not important, but still a question. DACs should be converted to items if needed, for transactions, or particular transactions as I said. up here. The governments keeping an eye on the electronic transactions is another idea, maybe a little bit hard to build though.

  7. We could seek for some coherence rather than just say 'LOOTABLE' or 'UNLOOTABLE', or even 'Lootrable only when just purchased'. The best option in my opinion is finally to have them unlootable, as it's linked to your account (like a bank account, so you need a code); you have DACs but they are non-physical in the character's view of the game. However, black market could be much more different : pirates could convert money from the ones and zeros to actual physical coins in their inventory to make illegal transactions. The risk in carrying physical DACs (or in-game soft-money too) would be to be stolen badly, I mean there should be risk for those who want some.

For example some orgs could regulate the trade of weapons with their law, electronic transaction would immediately be noticed by the authority, they'd know if you don't have the right to perform some particular transaction. Physical money could be a way to bypass the authorities' vigilance. But the police could still be watching for those who convert their money, or do customs at the borders. Thanks 4 reading if read.

  8. Harsh.  But true.  I think we need to stick with the story right now.  We're humans from Earth who got stuffed into an arkship, freezedried and shot into a planet.  That does give me an idea though.

Yeah. Moreover the way that is 'tolkien-like' to come up with some random fake document's name by some unsound poem's lines. Come on, it's an outrage to Tolkien's memory itself, fake history doesn't come out of nowhere.

  9. I generally avoid joining orgs.

I want as few rules as possible - so I'm most likely to join an org that has no formal rules.

I really only join orgs made up of forum/FB/twitter/twitch friends.

I group with people I want to hang out with - not with people I'm obligated to help.

That's a way of thinking, but orgs can also serves only/by_choice as communities, business, and information, organization basically.

  10. Damn. That's mental. Writing a whole lot for a game not even in Alpha. That freaks me out totally, the hours' loss I see in there. I agree with the comics because it's art out of itself but some raw lines. I'm not against it, just I don't see the point myself, I mean loads would just come by and see the text Block (wall they say) and go away, not expressing anything about it and barely reading the page, I just say that.

  11. Farming is just another form of resource gathering, but the question is who or what would consume livestock and crop resources?

    Maybe,

    1) Medicine for healing

    2) Temporary skill Buffs

    3) Chemical resources used in building other objects

    4) Biological weapons

    5) Fighting pets / mounts - will there be land battles in this game?

    6) Vanity items such as pets / clothing

    7) Will clothing have stats?

    8) Bio-engineering. Breeding new species to achieve variations on the above.

Not sure where any of those fit in with the current vision for the game. I'm a brand new backer just reading the forums for the first time :)

    1) But please, not a Far Cry like system tho

    2) How would you explain that?

    3) Yeah, not liquid at first tho

    5) Theoretically you could create mounts (small ships) to fight, but the animals could we mount them? Would be cool to come with a patch

    8) That's something we've talked about, at first it would not be possible I believe there would only be stray animals.

  12. I like the idea of Organizations or players that control a territory or even a planet being able to name it.  And the name showing up on maps and other places.  But i don't think the name rights should be permanent.

You should definitely have to maintain control in some way to maintain the name.

There are plenty of other ways to reward people for discovering a planet.  You should really have to do more then just fly by it to get to name it though.

There are actually (they should be) a lot, a lot of planets or small planets. Going by all a planet's territory or most of it would be really really long. Imagine you are only a small org and want to be known as the first to have landed there, you should leave a mark forever, would be great.

EDIT (off) : Then photos to take in the game and directly share into it (or post as posters/ on screens) should have a date and coordinates corresponding, that way we keep souvenir of what would be no more after a while. Civilisations can be destroyed, constructions erode...
