  1. Sometimes I'm looking at my inventory or crafting something and I see I am running low on certain things or think I could use a stockpile of X item. It would be nice if there was an option in the right click menu of items to open up the nanocrafter build window for that item or a keybind shortcut even.

  2. A lot of the same questions get asked in game chat and on discord so I thought I would put some frequent ones here while I'm waiting for some crafting to finish that are valid as of August 2020.  Feel free to call me out on any that are wrong. Hope they help.

    1. Do the beginner tutorial before venturing out. There are several items like the repair tool, Sanctuary Territory Unit and your first speeder that are picked up from this.

    2. You can restart the tutorial any time by visiting the start building and pressing the button again on the top floor, using the PageUp and PageDown keys moves the tutorial back or forward through the steps if you need to skip a part or retry one. Your current objectives, if they aren't on your screen and are still active can be found on your map at the bottom right.

    3. On Alioth(The planet you start on) there are teleporters that you can use to move between districts. Pay attention to which one you started on, it's on the wall behind the teleport pads. At the end of the tutorial you move to the Sanctuary moon and each district has a Shuttle that will take you to different parts of the moon, you may end up the other side of the planet from a home you may have started otherwise.

    4. Avoid the Institute tutorials for the moment. Right now they have a lot of issues as it's Beta. Common problems will be inventory disappearing, re-logging to find yourself floating in space and ending up miles away from your base. If you end up in space, log on to discord and ask one of the NQ staff to teleport you back. Discord can be found under the community tab here https://www.dualuniverse.game/.

    5. All building requires you to have a territory to build on and everything starts with a core. A dynamic core is for ships/vehicles and a static core is for buildings. You place those first then add to them.

    6. To PM someone in game it's the same as other MMO's which is /w name.

    7. To find your speeder among a sea of other vehicles open your map with either M or F4, select constructs and set destination. This will pinpoint your vehicle.

    8. ALT is the universal opposite function button, to pick something up its Alt + the deploy tool, to fill in a hole you've dug it's Alt + the mine tool(with the material equipped) etc.

    9. Some useful keys  - E changes the shape of the build tool.

CTRL + scroll changes the size of a build/mining tool.

                                            R flips an item.

                                            R+ scroll rotates an item.

Alt + V brings up a menu to change what names are on your screen.

Mouse Scroll is your throttle on your speeder.

Alt + Z is auto run.

    10. To work with a specific material it needs to be equipped, open your inventory, right click the material and hit equip. If you have declared a container as linked(making it the default container materials are taken out of when building or put into when mining) then the material your using needs to be in there after you have equipped it.

    11. 'Pending Operation' Is lag, give it a chance to catch up.

  3. To use as markers in tunnels we make while mining. Flares, so they expire and don't end up littering the landscape.  Also with the ability to be dropped on our territory but not being attached to a core.

    Different Colours.

    Editable duration.

Equip in quick access slot and hit F to drop one.

    Craftable early on.

  4. I can't thinkg of anything less immersive than a crowd on the background when there's no crowd at all.

Same here, but in places where large numbers of players congregate it's equally as weird to me with so many people standing in one place and not hearing any crowd noise.  There must be some way arouind it other than music.

Ofc as you said, this is being very specific, the main idea is sound effects in general.

  5. I think this will take some trial and error to decide.  While ti does make for some very nice politcal options and potential mischief it also has the potential to be a game breaker for some. Imagine you have built your home on a distant planet that takes weeks to reach, youve come back to get the last of your stuff to transport there and the gates gone.  Sure the gates can be rebuilt but how long?

Then there's new players, if the gates are controlled by certain Org's then any new player would need to join the controlling Org or face being trapped in the starting systems. And tbh it's the internet, if it's destructable it will be destroyed simply because it can be regardless of any political motivation.

The problem is, if it's open to anyone then there isn't really much insentive for anyone to spend the time and resources to build it in the first place.

Dunno it's a tough one to pick sides on,  maybe a Universal build project for the gate systems where every Org contributes to the building of it and a plaque on each to say which Org contributed the most.  Then make them indestructable?

  6. Being able to build underground, in space etc, obviously there will be different environmental sounds. What about inside your constructs, in the cockpit of your ship for example, exterior sounds would be muffled, This will probably be part of the cockpit element.  But what about inside large player made buildings?  Perhaps a positional sound effect as a tool on a very basic level?

    Hall

    Crowd

    Windy  etc.

  7. A craftable repair station you can set permissions on for your TU. Allow any user to repair their ships there at a price set by the station owner, its then down to the owner to make sure the station is fed with enough resources to keep the customers coming.  Could specialize in certain difficult/expensive repairs.

  8. If it's lasers please give them decent sound!  A recent games lasers sound like the noise you made as a kid with your imaginary laser pistol.  Tbh give them all great sound it really adds to the immersiveness at little cost to performance.

  9. Lol ok *Googles; How far is Alioth from Earth*  That comes up 81 light years*

'How far is Alioth from Earth in Dual Universe'  no answer.

Other than dismissing a thread like that you could try and be helpful.  You've basically made seeral posts saying nothing.

I think the dumbed down version of the question would be is our Alioth a fictional system or based on a real one?

  10. This is basically what I was about to post.

Start with procedurally generated names, and if an organization gets 100% (maybe less) control of a region (planet or larger) either delegated to them, or through total domination, they get to choose the name through voting or whatever system they please. Therefore it would be up to the community to make sure unqualified people (read: trolls) don't get absolute power over a region (probably won't happen). And then developers would naturally have a veto abilities to remove names that are against their ToS or whatever.

I like this idea, or instead of voting for the name, you could just make it really expensive to rename a planet, that would deter alot of bad names.

To be fair I think the only person that should have the right to rename a planet would be the person that initially discovered it.  Maybe some kind of token as proof of discovery, maybe an option to sell the token on the market.

That way at least if you can't afford to rename it you can hold onto the option until you can.  It would avoid having only the biggest Orgs being able to rename planets.  Until the token is used the planet keeps its procedural name.
