  1. Since this is a video game no need for  "Morals" so it depends on the conditions. If they are in my orgs space I would probably kill them, don't want a bunch of enemies running around in there. But if it was in the middle of no where HELL YEA I WOULD KILL THEM, I would want to look there body's.

  2. NQ have not stated anything on this topic.

However I've speculated many times that certain types of materials will be affected by daily erosion. For example: for every day passed, all dirt and gravel on the planet would have a certain degree of voxel smoothing applied to it, to slowly revert it towards the initial voxel configuration of the planet based on its seed.

I have yet to get anyone from NQ to comment on this.

That would be a good solution. But not sure it could be fast enough and still feel natural.

  3. No worries, EVE Online's contract system has you covered. TL; DR : the hauler puts up a collateral fee for the cargo, that the person issued the cotnract evaluated his cargo as.

If I wanted to move 10 billions worth of minerals to my factory, I would take into account :

    1) the price of my minerals

    2) the time I would invest on them if I was to refine or manufacture through them.

    3) how much I would actually make in the market.

Then I set up a collateral of 20 billions on my 10 billion cargo. If the cargo hauler does not deliver the cargo within a certain window, I get the collateral the hauler put up to undertake the contract. If the Hauler delivers the cargo to the cargo container I designated for him to put the cargo in, he gets paid as the contract is fulfilled.

And that's how it's done. A simple mechanism of contracts. Contracts in EVE == player quests. Some may ask you to bring the body of a particular person to them to be rewarded. Other contracts may be for minerals, while others use contracts to sell stuff.

Yes, this can be used to scam noobs that can't tell what contract is a scam, but hey, ce la vie.

So yeah, cargo should be stealable, but if you put up collateral for it when issueing the contract, you are covered. It's the hauler's problem to make sure they deliver the cargo.

I was going to comment that exact thing but apparently you beat me to it :(.

  4. oh i know the pain or alpha gameplay, i also back StarCitizen and many other alpha games!

yea i realize that after i made the post :P my bad, but yea i have read alot since i actually went ahead with the purchase, as i said i have been following the game since they announced it but only now have i been able to purchase. i am somewhat sad that they are going with a subscription model but at the same time happy, plus since i got the gold i get about 2 years or sub anyhow :P that should be plenty to be able to really see what happens and hopefully they dont go free to play.

Good. I plan on upgrading to gold too when I have the money. I know I will sound like a selfish dick saying this, BUUUT hopefully they wait 2 months before they release the alpha so I can get in.

  5. I have not heard anything about bomb like weapons. Maybe they could do less damage but have a wide area of effect or something like that.

This is something that would not make sense in a laser which is very focused but would make sense in a bomb.

A Missile would be different because it is lighter so It could not have such a large area of effect.

Edit: This would add bomber game play and ship design.

  6. Feature.Creep. that is a reason to leave them out. Feature creep kills projects.

There have been few successful sandbox MMO's, and nothing quite like what they have already shown us. This doesn't need minecraft features that don't fit to be something other than a typical mmo. Saying it would be better for them to cram more mechanics, textures, and features into the game prior to release because it might be harder to add it later is folley. Time and money are finite resources in a company. Any time they spend on these "maybe" features is either time they don't spend on the real features, or time they delay alpha, beta, and release.

They have yet to get enough funding to add construct vs construct combat. That would be a gaping hole in what this game should be like on release. Should we make this hole wider to satisfy feature creep?

Now once the game is actually out and collecting revenue, then the situation changes a bit. They will have to decide how to use that new revinue, and what to develop. If we assume we have Construct vs Construct at that point, wouldn't it be better for them to work on stargates? new worlds and materials? new equipment and ship building options?

I would prefer they delay then release an incomplete game.

Edit: "If we assume we have Construct vs Construct at that point, wouldn't it be better for them to work on stargates? new worlds and materials? new equipment and ship building options?" Well yes, once the game is released but this thread is about before.

  7. I hate to break it to you, but the features you just listed there (weather condition damage to structures, food/starvation, farm animals) are all off-genre features and are unlikely to EVER make it into the game.

This is an MMO, the features you just listed are all SURVIVAL game genre features. Not a single one of those features are a part of the core gameplay that they have proposed so far. The main features they have pushed up until this point have been about Building, Exploration, Economy, Orgs, and PvP up until this point. Not a single one of those gameplay elements ties directly into the features you mentioned in this post. A smart dev team would focus on what they already have proposed without even considering off-genre mechanics. If something is in popular demand AND can be added later, then it would be a possibility, but of the features you have listed so far, the only thing that seems like it has a snowball's chance in making it into the game is the environmental damage mechanics. Mainly this is because if added in a future patch, they can create dangerous weather zones exclusively in new sectors.

So my guess is that if the devs responded with "probably not at release" it is a polite way of dismissing requests/demands without losing your support and interest. They are doing a smart and polite customer service thing by keeping an open mind and not telling you flat out "no", even if that is the truth.

So yeah, probably not at release.

But they have mentioned wanting to add food/starvation and farm animals. Not sure about weather condition damage though. He was simply suggesting if they are going to add those they should do it on release. Also why are you trying to make this a stereo typical mmo? These features would work well in a game like this. There is no reason to leave them out because most other mmo games do not have them.

  8. I agree with the first part. But disagree with he last part. If they release a buggy broken game there wont be a game for them to fix. This is a monthly sub if its to buggy people will leave and not come back, for the most part. I would much prefer a dreaded delay then rushed features.

:Edit I am kinda worried that they will wait to release stuff that would be good only in the early game latter down the line too. Is that the correct two to too?

  9. I payed for the gold founder pack and I wouldn't regret my decision even if I didn't get anything from it. But I've been reading around on the forums and it seems that the alpha members are selected individually, and I am wondering what you really need to get alpha access. So how are you chosen? What is the criteria? What does "alpha access key" really mean? I am fourteen, will I have a lower chance of getting in because of my age?

I am really excited about this game and I am very pleased with the progress that has been made so far. I am very thankful for Novaquark going in on this. Good day (or night depending where you are :D).

From my understanding they are just giving alpha to some extra people. So you will still get alpha at the same time. ALSO DUDE, THIS IS THE INTERNET WHY WOULD YOU TELL USE YOUR AGE!!!
