  1. I think some people are more interested in making predictions, and being right, then having an honest discussion about why NQ would wipe. And whether it would be good or bad for the game, in the long term. I'm very much aware that NQ could decide to wipe. That's why i'm here discussing it. But i only see one reason that they would consider it, and it's to provide the "fresh start" that the OP is asking for. Launch, and the first few days/weeks after the final wipe is a HUGE deal in persistent world games like this. People want to be there for it. They will pay to be there for it. They already paid to be there for it. It's entirely possible NQ might be tempted to sell that product again. And with absolutely no other reason for a wipe, that's exactly what they would be doing. Selling out the game's future for a quick cash-grab.
  2. You haven't presented a single reasonable argument yet Blaze. Not One. Why would they wipe? Removing intentionally unabandoned constructs from sanctuary can easily be accomplished with abandonment if NQ decides that's something they need to do. So you can forget about that one.
  3. That is some hilariously flawed logic. A wipe is only an exception to that rule, if there's a reason for a wipe. But breaking the "rule" is the only reason you can come up with. Obviously if NQ decides to wipe, they will wipe. And you can attempt to predict what they'll do all you want. But you haven't put forward a single valid reason that they would or should wipe. Abandonment handles everything except sanctuary. Which it doesn't handle because it's not supposed to. And if they wanted it to, it could also handle sanctuary.
  4. Abandonment will already accomplish that. And they just went to so much trouble telling everyone that if they ever decide to come back, their stuff would be safe if it's left on a sanctuary tile. So now they're going to wipe the whole game just to delete everyone's stuff from sanctuary? That would be pretty cold. But also, really heavy handed, when they could definitely figure out another way to solve that problem. A wipe will always be on the table, if NQ decides one is needed. And if there's a good reason i'm sure they will. But i don't see any reason for one.
  5. No. Let’s be real here, it’s not just an opinion on the game. It’s an opinion about MY progress and enjoyment of the game. If they wanted to start fresh they are welcome to. But they are demanding that NQ force me to start fresh, because they think leveling the playing field might possibly re-ignight their interest in the game. that’s a demand. And it’s selfish.
  6. I don't really care what you've contributed. Nothing earns you the right to demand they tear it all down because you're bored. It's so mind numbingly selfish.
  7. You can choose from a direct mouse control, or a "virtual joystick" that allows for more fine-tuned control. For very small ships i use the direct mouse control. But for larger ships i like the virtual joystick. You can also customize the key bindings in the options. Different types of ships really require different methods of control, and everyone has their own preferences too. As for the graphics, in my opinion they are absolutely amazing. The graphics are so much better than any other game that has any kind of building, and the building in DU is so much better than any of those games anyway. They can't just flip a switch and make the graphics better, it would mean making an entirely different game.
  8. If the person who made the Blueprint intended to sell one copy of the factory, and the steps you just suggested allow someone to make a second factory BP for free, then that's an exploit. They may not have figured out how to stop it yet, or made some big post clarifying that an exploit, is in fact an exploit. But i don't see any reason to assume that they don't care. That seems like dangerous advice to be handing out.
  9. I think the fact that you're in here giving people Eve PVP advice, in regard to how they should park their ship, in the safe zone, is a pretty good indicator that the system is a bit too harsh. NQ tried to kill two birds with one stone here. The abandonment system was designed to deal with players who stop paying for a subscription. Assuming a player knows that they stopped paying for a sub, and has every opportunity, and plenty of time to move stuff to sanctuary, i think abandonment is a reasonably harsh penalty. I don't think it's a good fit for dealing with market clutter though. Because market clutter needs to be dealt with faster. I do think that market clutter needed a solution now though, so i'm glad they did something about it. But i hope going forward they consider developing a system that isn't so punishing.
  10. You’re missing the point. This isn’t Eve, and not every ship in this game is disposable, to the person flying it. if you don’t want to lose a ship, you definitely shouldn’t be using it to do anything outside the safe zone. but if you have a ship that you don’t want to lose. You shouldn’t lose it because you used it to haul ore to the market, in the safe zone, and your PC dies while you’re there.
  11. What about people who buy ships with a DRM blueprint? I would expect someone with such a massive IQ to have thought of that. it’s also possible that someone won’t even be able to acquire a new BP of their ship. If the person who built it isn’t playing anymore. Making the ship irreplaceable
  12. I think you're misunderstanding me. I meant that a component of my PC could fail, causing it to not work anymore. So i'd need to replace it. Which could take more than seven days. I don't think i've ever parked a construct at any Market for more than an hour or two. But if my PC dies during that hour, there's not much i can do about that. The intent is to discourage people who are intentionally leaving constructs at the markets, not to punish people who are unexpectedly not able to login for several days. I like the timeframe. Something should happen after seven days, that discourages people from intentionally leaving ships at the market. But after that there should be a way to get your ship back somehow.
  13. I think NQ made a mistake in trying to combine the concept of abandonment and salvage, with the need to remove clutter from the markets. Having the Markets uncluttered is great. I think we can all agree that it's a good thing. Losing your stuff eventually if you aren't playing the game, or paying for it, makes sense. But seven days is just too short. Every time i park at the market now, it's hard not to think to myself "Gee i hope my PC doesn't crap out right now. Or i'll have seven days to buy a new one, or i lose my ship." That's no fun. I've considered setting up a system with someone else, where they have perms on my ships, so if it does happen, i could at least have them move my ship off the market tile. But that shouldn't be necessary. Clutter at the markets could just be moved, or compacted automatically, with a fee to get them back, or something like that. The idea is to force players to not leave crap at the markets. But i think that could be done with in-game disincentives. Something that hurts, but makes you want to play more, if it happens, not less. A fast and harsh system to get people to stop leaving junk at the markets is exactly what we need. But abandonment is too harsh.
  14. You don't have to do an easter egg hunt if you don't want to though. it's a game. People do it because it's fun. You can just buy eggs at the grocery store. If you don't feel like playing this game, then don't. You can take the money you were going to give NQ and spend it on a nice trophy that says, "I WON DU!" That way you get what you want, and we all still get to have fun playing a game.
  15. You really need to buy a territory scanner if you don't have one and find better tiles to mine. I scanned for hours on Lacobus, and eventually found a cluster with about 150l/hr gold, 100 Pyrite, and 40 Natron. So i have 7 territories on Lacobus with a t2, t3 and t4 MU running on each one. And before i did any of that I also spent two days scanning on Alioth and found a cluster with about 150l/hr of Malachite and 400l/hr of Bauxite. And then i spent a few weeks selling the ore from those tiles before i could afford to buy the t4 mining units to mine the gold on Lacobus. Ore is distributed in areas of higher and lower density. So if you find pyrite, then somewhere nearby there is probably tiles with a much higher yield. If you have three territory scanners, and scan at the intersection of three tiles, see which one has the highest yield, and then move in that direction, and scan again. Keep doing that until you find something better.
  16. Once we have player run markets, everyone should do it like Elite:Dangerous "You have ten seconds to park your ship perfectly inside the designated parking spot or the station will open fire! Ten, Nine" ?
  17. That's funny because it seems to me like NQ went with the initial mining system, because that's how other games like Minecraft and Landmark did it. And they never really considered whether it would be a good fit for DU. Having a fully editable game world is awesome. But that doesn't necessarily mean that digging holes needs to be a major part of the gameplay. I think the first few games that did it, just wanted to put the feature front and center. Because it was new. As far as mining simulators go, DU's first iteration was a lot more fun than mining in Minecraft or Landmark. But does anyone really want to play a mining simulator? I'm here to build spaceships.
  18. You keep skipping past all the entry level content, right to the most profitable and hardest thing. And then you try to do it with no research, planning, or effort, and when you fail, you come here and blame NQ. I can't speak for everyone, but most of us here are benefiting from each other's knowledge and experience. There's nothing wrong with listening to other people and letting them help you. I do it constantly. If you chose not to, then it was your decision to make the game harder than it needs to be.
  19. When i need Natron i just warp to Lacobus and there's a container full of it waiting there for me. /shrug
  20. I don't know if you were here before Demeter. But there wasn't as much ore as you seem to think there was. In the end there was still a lot of small nodes of low and mid tier ore, but it takes hours to find and mine small nodes. And even those would have run out eventually. The ore supply was finite, they would have had to add another solar system seeded with more ore eventually, or the only method of getting ore left would have been asteroids. Almost all the mega nodes were either mined out or claimed. And the people who made billions mining mega nodes put out quite a bit of effort to make that money. It's not just mining, there was hours of scanning involved to find the mega nodes. You could spend all day scanning and maybe find nothing. Or you could spend all day mining small nodes and make a few million at best. In the beginning it was a gold rush to find the high tier megas, and it was fun. But it didn't last forever, and it wasn't sustainable. You can argue that the current system is too hard for you, or not fun enough, or whatever. But your claims that everything was perfect before are just false.
  21. None of the things that you're whining about in this post were even in the last update. If you really need to make a new post, for a little dose of attention, could you at least put a little bit more effort into it?
  22. Oh come on. You're intentionally misrepresenting what i said. I was responding to the OP saying their "suggestions" would benefit everyone. I wasn't demanding that the game align with my play style at all, just disagreeing with the OP's claim that their "suggestions" would benefit me. The OP was making an assumption that everyone wants everything in the game to be easier and faster. So i was explaining that isn't what i want. It's possible to make suggestions or share your thoughts about the game, without claiming to speak for large groups of people, or saying the game will fail if you don't get what you want.
  23. The problem is, making the game easier won’t benefit me. Because I want a challenging game, that will still be interesting to me a year from now. From my perspective you are taking a game that offers options for many different play styles, and demanding that they all be changed to your play style. there are so many options for things to do in the game, but none of that is good enough for you. You want the highest rewards for the lowest effort. But you don’t seem to be listenIng when we tell you that the rewards scale with effort. So someone willing to put in more effort will always get more. All you’re doing is begging NQ to tank the game’s economy.
  24. These posts remind of me of the kind of person who comes into a restaurant, and orders the spicy chicken, then sends it back complaining that it's too spicy. They're so self-centered that it's impossible for them to entertain the idea that spicy food, might not be for them, a person who does not like spicy food. Do people who enjoy a challenge not deserve a game to play too? Would it be so awful for you to accept taking on some of the slightly less spicy challenges in the game, and allow people who enjoy a little spice to have some fun too?
