0Krypt reacted to Endstar in Adjust org recruiting beyond yes/no. Let us send a message or reason we said no please.
When an org is set to allow recruiting the only options legates have is accept or refuse.  We cannot ask questions or even give a reason for refusal. Would like to send a message or communicate with a person who applied. Seems basic and needed.

0Krypt reacted to NQ-Nyota in Thoramine and Related Post-Release Rewards
    Hi everyone!

We’ve been hearing some legitimate complaints about the reward associated with having Thoramine on some characters. The issue is that the reward for having Thoramine can’t be bound to an account completely (it can be deployed and picked up by other players). Since this reward should be considered very rare, having the ability to trade it could potentially allow players to achieve a huge source of wealth if traded. In light of that, we’ve decided to use this reward for later events instead. Owners of at least 500L of Thoramine will still get a distinction that will not impact the in-game economy: they will be granted an in-game title to celebrate the memory of owning such a precious and rare resource.

Regarding the controversy of people acquiring Thoramine through RMT:

After investigation, We didn't find any evidence of an RMT transaction about Thoramine. However, we do know that some amount of Thoramine has been exchanged in DU for resources in another game. Though this kind of transaction is not considered RMT (reminder: Real Money Trading implies that the seller receives real money), it does fall in a grey area, which was not covered by our rules so far. As the nature of such an exchange was not covered by our rules, no sanction will be applied to the community members for this time. However, from now on, transactions of this type are considered against the rules and all community members caught doing so will be subject to some significant sanctions.

    Strong reminder about public accusations:

We would like to remind everyone that public accusations are a solid “no go”. There are only two scenarios possible:

    1) If you have at least partial evidence that a community member has broken our forum/discord rules or EULA, and you have evidence of this, please report it to the mods in private. In rare cases it can be more appropriate, you can instead report it - in private - to one of the CMs on Discord, or write to the whole CM team at community@novaquark.com. It’s not your prerogative to start a witch hunt even if you have evidence.

    2) If you just happen to hear about someone doing something that breaks the rules, refrain from making any public accusation. If you don't have any evidence (reminder: some screenshots of a discussion is not considered evidence, as it could be falsified.) However it can be a good start for an internal investigation. Also, keep in mind that providing false/altered evidence to the Novaquark team can backfire to the one(s) who provided the evidence. We are aware that some people consider weaponizing the rules as an okay form of “PvP”. To be clear, this is not considered okay at all by the Novaquark team, and can be severely  punished, for both following reasons: trying to take down an innocent player by shady means and wasting the time of the Novaquark team for no good reason. If you want to do PvP, you have to do it by the rules, or you’re exposing yourself to serious sanctions.

Last but not least, public accusations can trigger harassment and significant reputation damage that can be irreversible even if the person is innocent in the end. Even if you’re sure the person is guilty, let the Novaquark team investigate. It’s not your prerogative to start a witch hunt based on partial evidence (because if you happen to be wrong, who will pay the most in the end for this error? Certainly not the one who started the public accusation). Of course, we also take into account that all public accusations do not have all the same severity (hence not the same consequences). If you’re accusing someone of RMT, Bug Exploiting, Doxxing, etc they are considered very serious, and they do not have the same consequences as accusing someone of trolling, for example.

    Thanks for your understanding.
    The Novaquark team.

Here's a better look at the ceiling where the lumi-voxels reside. Recessed in a channel of matte black plastic..

Hello there. I'll try be civil about this, as civil as possible, but understand I'm infuriated.

You perfected lumi-voxel in the PTS, absolute chef's kiss, but I come onto the update today and it's been ruined once again by that super jarring lighting multiplier effect. Lighting was finally quite consistent and positionally consistent in the PTS, now it isn't. It is, quite frankly, a mess.

For those reading this thinking: "I need lumi voxel for cheap lighting", let me tell you, they added a very simple thing in the PTS and now in live to be the solution, HDR for lights.
You can now increase brightness of lights by more than 100%, and it makes a huge difference at no FPS cost compared to normal brightness lights. Example of just one L light set to max brightness.

Maybe you don't understand the issue, I don't blame you if you weren't in the PTS, let me show you an extreme but common example: (Courtesy of Zer0Krypt)

Dual_Universe_2022-06-28_12-38-04.mp4 In this video, you see him standing right underneath the lumi-voxel, then he stands off from it and the whole room becomes dark. What should have happened is nothing, he should have seen zero light change, as in, there should have been no light no matter where he stood, or very little. Not this extremely lit to absolute darkness nonsense.

Please, I beg you NQ, fix this horrible effect by removing it. You removed it for the PTS, time to remove it forever.

While I am by no means an expert on how these systems work, and I can't guarantee even that what I've seen was good info, the few images I've seen when referencing their stress tests make me suspect that NQ's "stress-test bots" probably weren't all that complex by most folk's standards. If I had to guess they were either mimicking commands (one person presses w, a hundred avatars walk forward), or running exceptionally simple loops of commands/actions. I'd be surprised if they were even as complex as the SPRT scripts Keen uses for Space Engineers.

I could very easily be wrong, and I'd even like to be in this instance, I want NQ to add some pve ships to get in to a shootout with (they could make it a mission, or spawn them near asteroids), but with how things run now I seriously doubt it can happen short of some fairly significant changes to how things work.

As for Legion having nobody to fight, that seems like a "universe is too safe and small" problem. EVE in its prime had quite a few star-systems that would barely see more than traffic passing through, it took time to jump through all those systems if you needed to get somewhere. At the same time it wasn't at all safe, if you didn't have a cloak your opponents could scan you down no matter what part of the infinite void you were hiding in.

Meanwhile in DU you can warp from near about anywhere to near about anywhere faster than you can get food delivered irl, all while being absolutely safe. And if you don't feel like warping, you get 12+ SU clear of the pipe and you may as well have a cloaking device.

Legion controls all the best resources, their supply lines can't be seriously attacked, the available force-projection lets them put everything they have in to any fight near about at the drop of a hat, and the only option anyone has is functionally to try a frontal assault. Much like when a group dominates in any other persistent-universe game, nobody is going to put up much of a fight against Legion right now because they very rightly don't think they can win.

So, enjoy the quiet at the top. Until NQ gives us something bigger than this kiddie-pool of a solar-system, something so big Legion can't maintain control of it all, the only decent battles you're going to get will be out of each other.

Here is my video from the battle, DU pvp from one point of view isn't that very exciting so I did my best on making it interesting.
