  1. Well, All we know is that We all start on the same planet. We'll likely be able to see maybe a moon, or possibly another planet, but beyond that, until somebody makes space travel, no one will have any idea where anything else is. To get out of the system, we'll have to build the stargates.

Honestly, I find it really exciting to have absolutly no clue where any other planets are until we discover it. Imagine. You're one of the first ones to make a spaceship. Others have been looking for Planet #2, but nobody can find it. You're out exploring and stumble upon it. A whole new world, that thousands of others will colonize, mine, and fly to, all because you had the skills(luck?) to find it first. You'll be remembered forever, as the first person to set foot on a new planet. (Aside from whoever gets out of the inevitable rush to log in first and spawn on Alioth.)

Finding it is one thing, if you really wanna be remembered then go for broke and set up the first colony too :P

  2. Adds nothing to the game play and would be open to abuse.

    I beg to differ.

Not only would it be useful for roleplaying purposes, but it'd allow players who really don't want to die a means to survive a violent encounter. Get imprisoned for a few minutes, pay the ransom, get let out and you keep all the stuff you had in your inventory. Granted, it won't be a simple as that, but meh.

  3. Hello there, DU Community! I've got a bit of an update on a few things for you all, concerning Chromion Industrial.

First and foremost, I'd like to welcome Commander Trailblazer as the leader of Chromion Industrial's Security forces! It'll be nice knowing our members will have some protection out there!

Secondly, I'd like to direct you all to Chromion Industrial's Discord channel! It's been in existance for a while, but word hasn't really gotten around. Feel free to pop into our lobby and say hi! (Here's the link: https://discord.gg/uckarBz)

Thirdly, I'd like to address two issues that go hand in hand: payment, and work. I've been pondering as to how to handle paying our members for their hard work, and I believe I've come up with a solution.

Work will be assigned based on a contract system. A member of the org may accept any number of contracts, or no contracts at all. Each contract has a base fee, and there is a possibility of bonuses, depending on the contract. At the end of a week, if the member has completed at least one contract, they receive all the completed contract's fees that haven't been collected yet, along with  the base salary that each working member receives. If a member completes no contracts in a week, they get no base salary.

This is a tentative system, and it may be tweaked a little in the future once someone comes around and pokes a few holes in the idea :P

Lastly, I'd like to say: Join us! We're always looking for new members, and I've been thinking about organizing some game nights for everyone to enjoy while we wait for DU to release. I look forward to seeing some new faces within our ranks.

That's all for this update. Yall have a good day, y'hear?

    Sincerely,

Halo381, Head Director of Chromion Industrial

  4. While this idea will ultimately not become a NQ regulated thing (for reasons stated in above posts), I'd certainly like to see a "Universe War" where literally every org (or at least most) picks a side and absolutely massacres each other. It'd be a great thing to be a part of, that's for sure. Whether you're the victor or the loser, you'll prolly be remembered in DU history till the game no longer exists- if you achieve something crazy, anyways. Can't say everyone will get in the history book :P

  5. I hope the water ends up having more dynamic action than minecraft water. I feel that if it is the same there may/will be ways to exploit water to move goods around in less secure but essentially energy free. That said perhaps those issues will resolve themselves when we do hear how fluids will interact.

In either case I can't wait to see what people are able to do with fluids.

Water will likely behave less dynamically than minecraft water, at the very beginning.

I know some are wishing for impressive fountains. I don't expect there to be any soon but I certainly hope they will come eventually.

They could create a fountain element and just have an effect on it, rather than actual water. But I think that'll come a bit later on, with a whole plethora of decorative elements

  6.  but they didn't really agree?

The point of that conversation wasn't so that they could agree with each other, it was so that they could understand each other better. It's like character building; y'know, with your favorite TV show, the two main characters get into an argument and this one says that, that one says this, and at the end of it all they both understand the other a bit better.

My other picture showed how they aren't listening to Neo at all?

We've been listening, it's just a matter of truly understanding what the other means to do, which Cinderfall has worked through

And Astro complained about all the different viewpoints..

Think of it this way: You gather 15 different people in a room. You ask each of them their opinions on a policy. They each give a different opinion on said policy. Then they ask you to choose one, and you know that if you choose one, the other 14 might think less of you for it. Then you have to do that for every policy on the list, every time you have a meeting.

And you're telling me you wouldn't feel stressed about that? I call bullshit.

  7. I'm not sure what's worst:

That you think I am funny, or that you actually find what I write even funnier.

Hell yeah I find it funny! Two people had a conversation: words were exchanged, problems were worked out, and life returned to it's normal course.

And then you come up and say "Guys, it's the end of the world! Cinderfall isn't sharing information! Their leaders are arguing! Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah."

And you expect me not to laugh? You must be out of your mind!

  8. It seems it is currently unlikely that there will be moving parts on a *single* construct. We can still make separate constructs that act as moving obstacles. So do not lose all hope just yet.[/quote

Hopefully we can program them so they don't have to be manually controlled the whole time

You ought to be able to.

On that note, I'd like to voice my support for this project.

  9. rolls laughing on the floor

He has outreach he says ....... wahahahaha ..... Exclusively from the CSYN Senate chat he says ...... wahahahaha

Please stop i can't anymore i die here due to laughing hahahaha

Steals Darius' popcorn while he's distracted

  10. Many hope on that. But how will players act? Nobody can predict. How easy will be to make damage and to repair. How organised will be teams? How much players vision will vary?

What I try to say, we think everything will go how we want. Same as most other players, but when our visions will clash, it will make a troubles =) I remember, when me and my friend played Space Engineers together, building same project was a problem very often. There were two of us, I can't even imagine how it will be "great" build with 10 at the same time...

Of course, players can design some plans for cities during Alpha/Beta. Then organise team to reproduce this in release. Very hard to say even about that (it would be boring to reproduce somebody's plan for me, as an example). So we can dream, but we need to wait.

    Thanks,

    Archonious

As Archonious says, "The best-laid plans of mice and men oft go awry". Better to have a loose direction you wish to go and adapt to the situation as it develops to further your progress towards your goal.

  11. What makes me the admiral? Quite, frankly, because Astrophil saw qualities in me that he deemed worthy of this position. I won't claim to be the most experienced, or the best leader. But I am a good leader. I pride myself in being as un-biased and fair as I can possibly be. I pride myself on being adaptable, able to handle any situation I'm placed in calmly. I pride myself on being a quick learner, and a good tactician.

So, to truly answer your question, I'm the Admiral because I'm qualified to be. Perhaps not the very best, but at the end of the day, I've got the job.

  12. Hello there! I am Halo381, and I am the Admiral governing the Joint Syndicate Defense Force, or JSDF for short. Many people wonder as to what exactly the JSDF is. Let me explain: the JSDF is a mutual defensive coalition between the Member Organizations of the Cinderfall Syndicate. Our job is to protect the assets of the Cinderfall Syndicate Member Organizations when they are unable to. If all of your defenders are offline, you need but call and we’ll send a force to assist you in defending the facility until your defenders return from their real lives. Every Member Organization is offered this protection. All we ask is that you give us some of your time in return. The JSDF needs members, from both within the CSYN Member Organizations, and from individuals unaffiliated with any other org. Our gates are open; all you need do is enter.

If you are already a member of the Cinderfall Syndicate, then I will be pinning a form to the Discord channel. If you are not a member of the Cinderfall Syndicate, then I’d like for you to join. Our Discord channel is open to all, and if you have any questions about the Syndicate, they can be answered there.

NOTE: If you initiate a conflict, it’s up to you to finish it. The JSDF is not here to fight your wars for you, it’s here to give you peace of mind while you’re away from your computer.

  13.

    5) At the moment i believe all planets are 1 Biome. The starter planet is kind of an earth type biome. the other planet/moon we visited is a desert type biome.

Edit: Keep in mind the game is still in alpha so a lot of these answers could change or maybe some of my replies are out of date.

Actually, this is not the case. While there may be planets with only one biome out there, I believe there are also planets with multiple biomes, and the starter planet is one of them last I checked

  14. My thought's on the corpse runner scenario:

Sure you can try and suicide run my town to run down the ammo in the turrets but after the first time you damage my property you are going to be flagged as hostile and "kill on sight" to the turrets and everyone in the town militia.

Good luck, my ammo and fuel stock piles are a lot bigger and automatically replenished by the friendly traders and miners who come visiting to trade and the resources it takes to kill you are certainly a lot less than the cost of the respawn and your discarded equipment that is now scattered across the no mans land where you dropped it on your many deaths.

You won't make it  closer than 100m to the town perimeter, before you are perforated meat

Restocking only works under the assumption that the people supplying you can actually travel to and from the supply site safely. Any good tactician would set up a blockade around a besieged town/city to run it dry of it's resources.
