  1. Finding it is one thing, if you really wanna be remembered then go for broke and set up the first colony too
  2. Nice to meet ya mate. Welcome to the DU Community! I look forward to hearing more from you!
  3. I could have sworn they said somewhere that Alioth will be on a five hour day/night cycle. Maybe in one of the pre-alpha videos? Idk, I may just be a crazy loon.

    Player Prison?

I beg to differ. Not only would it be useful for roleplaying purposes, but it'd allow players who really don't want to die a means to survive a violent encounter. Get imprisoned for a few minutes, pay the ransom, get let out and you keep all the stuff you had in your inventory. Granted, it won't be a simple as that, but meh.
  5. Hello there, DU Community! I've got a bit of an update on a few things for you all, concerning Chromion Industrial. First and foremost, I'd like to welcome Commander Trailblazer as the leader of Chromion Industrial's Security forces! It'll be nice knowing our members will have some protection out there! Secondly, I'd like to direct you all to Chromion Industrial's Discord channel! It's been in existance for a while, but word hasn't really gotten around. Feel free to pop into our lobby and say hi! (Here's the link: https://discord.gg/uckarBz) Thirdly, I'd like to address two issues that go hand in hand: payment, and work. I've been pondering as to how to handle paying our members for their hard work, and I believe I've come up with a solution. Work will be assigned based on a contract system. A member of the org may accept any number of contracts, or no contracts at all. Each contract has a base fee, and there is a possibility of bonuses, depending on the contract. At the end of a week, if the member has completed at least one contract, they receive all the completed contract's fees that haven't been collected yet, along with the base salary that each working member receives. If a member completes no contracts in a week, they get no base salary. This is a tentative system, and it may be tweaked a little in the future once someone comes around and pokes a few holes in the idea Lastly, I'd like to say: Join us! We're always looking for new members, and I've been thinking about organizing some game nights for everyone to enjoy while we wait for DU to release. I look forward to seeing some new faces within our ranks. That's all for this update. Yall have a good day, y'hear? Sincerely, Halo381, Head Director of Chromion Industrial

    Big-War-Day

While this idea will ultimately not become a NQ regulated thing (for reasons stated in above posts), I'd certainly like to see a "Universe War" where literally every org (or at least most) picks a side and absolutely massacres each other. It'd be a great thing to be a part of, that's for sure. Whether you're the victor or the loser, you'll prolly be remembered in DU history till the game no longer exists- if you achieve something crazy, anyways. Can't say everyone will get in the history book
  7. Water will likely behave less dynamically than minecraft water, at the very beginning. They could create a fountain element and just have an effect on it, rather than actual water. But I think that'll come a bit later on, with a whole plethora of decorative elements
  8. The point of that conversation wasn't so that they could agree with each other, it was so that they could understand each other better. It's like character building; y'know, with your favorite TV show, the two main characters get into an argument and this one says that, that one says this, and at the end of it all they both understand the other a bit better. We've been listening, it's just a matter of truly understanding what the other means to do, which Cinderfall has worked through Think of it this way: You gather 15 different people in a room. You ask each of them their opinions on a policy. They each give a different opinion on said policy. Then they ask you to choose one, and you know that if you choose one, the other 14 might think less of you for it. Then you have to do that for every policy on the list, every time you have a meeting. And you're telling me you wouldn't feel stressed about that? I call bullshit.
  9. Hell yeah I find it funny! Two people had a conversation: words were exchanged, problems were worked out, and life returned to it's normal course. And then you come up and say "Guys, it's the end of the world! Cinderfall isn't sharing information! Their leaders are arguing! Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah." And you expect me not to laugh? You must be out of your mind!
  10. You ought to be able to. On that note, I'd like to voice my support for this project.
  11. I'm not sure what's funnier: the fact that you wrote all this, or the fact that you actually seem to think it's important.
  12. Wonders absently where his popcorn when while he was reading an article
  13. Steals Darius' popcorn while he's distracted
  14. There was mention of popcorn? I'm game.
  15. As Archonious says, "The best-laid plans of mice and men oft go awry". Better to have a loose direction you wish to go and adapt to the situation as it develops to further your progress towards your goal.
  16. Because in general it's hard to get hover tanks into underground tunnels. You gotta be someone real determined to go that route
  17. What makes me the admiral? Quite, frankly, because Astrophil saw qualities in me that he deemed worthy of this position. I won't claim to be the most experienced, or the best leader. But I am a good leader. I pride myself in being as un-biased and fair as I can possibly be. I pride myself on being adaptable, able to handle any situation I'm placed in calmly. I pride myself on being a quick learner, and a good tactician. So, to truly answer your question, I'm the Admiral because I'm qualified to be. Perhaps not the very best, but at the end of the day, I've got the job.
  18. Hello there! I am Halo381, and I am the Admiral governing the Joint Syndicate Defense Force, or JSDF for short. Many people wonder as to what exactly the JSDF is. Let me explain: the JSDF is a mutual defensive coalition between the Member Organizations of the Cinderfall Syndicate. Our job is to protect the assets of the Cinderfall Syndicate Member Organizations when they are unable to. If all of your defenders are offline, you need but call and we’ll send a force to assist you in defending the facility until your defenders return from their real lives. Every Member Organization is offered this protection. All we ask is that you give us some of your time in return. The JSDF needs members, from both within the CSYN Member Organizations, and from individuals unaffiliated with any other org. Our gates are open; all you need do is enter. If you are already a member of the Cinderfall Syndicate, then I will be pinning a form to the Discord channel. If you are not a member of the Cinderfall Syndicate, then I’d like for you to join. Our Discord channel is open to all, and if you have any questions about the Syndicate, they can be answered there. NOTE: If you initiate a conflict, it’s up to you to finish it. The JSDF is not here to fight your wars for you, it’s here to give you peace of mind while you’re away from your computer.
  19. Actually, this is not the case. While there may be planets with only one biome out there, I believe there are also planets with multiple biomes, and the starter planet is one of them last I checked
  20. Restocking only works under the assumption that the people supplying you can actually travel to and from the supply site safely. Any good tactician would set up a blockade around a besieged town/city to run it dry of it's resources.
