  1. Its about winning and loosing. One generates happiness the other generates frustration. If the same group of 20 guys keep stacking wins, against 100-1000 players you end up with 20 happy guys and 100-1000 unhappy victims. Its not sustainable. Ofcouse good PVPers should use their skills and friends to win against everyone. But a game solely developed around this pvp is not sustainable and will fail. Loosing players need a chance to restock ships, weapons and most importantly happiness. They need interesting PVE.
  2. The problem i have with guys like you is that when this game fails, you will refuse to listen to the players explaining that they exited the game because a small group of players were making a miserable gameplay for the rest. Instead you will hear your pvp m8's opinion and together with yours you will say that the safezones killed the game... In summary, you will not learn a thing from this experience.
  3. I dont know about 2nd life. But minecraft's persistent gameplay heavily focuses on PVE. With a world rich with NPCs, structures and secrets. With often game resets. Does 2nd life have any combat?
  4. Very wishful thinking @CptLoRes. Thats the diference from theorical experimentation and engineering. Theorical experimentation does what you do, calculates the possibility of some "effect" to occur and tries to create the exotic conditions necessarily for that "effect" to occur, no mater the cost. Engineering calculates if that "effect" can happen naturally or with the cheepest/easiest set of conditions possible. Is it, experimentally, possible for the DU community to create a "player driven" to happen? Yes, with "exotic conditions" like "tools" that NQ has not provided and some unknows we are yet to realize. Is it engineering viable? Nope.
  5. Aparently if you go mine an asteroid in the pvp one you are either "Legion" or "Legion target". So, go to an asteroid learn about them.
  6. Lol. It was a failed vision, no matter the tools. Why would people that hide from real life social interaction by playing video games, ignore their instincts of instant gratification and work and socialize positively to create and enjoyably game experience for others? I can admit that most of you never actually thought about this in this way. And may be now arriving to the conclusion on how "player exclusive" content is not viable. But there are still some of you that think the problem is the lack of "tools"?... Thats just blinded faith in JC's vision.
  7. NPC are still tabu. As it stands, you are wasting your time.
  8. I completely agree with this sentence. But. The reward can be about quantity instead of quality. The idea is to create the chance for a new player to migrate from PVE to PVP. If he can only get good weapons/engines in the PVP zone, he will allways be at a near impossible disadvantage. To me, someone that does not travel to the PVP zone should have exactly the same opportunities and resources compared to the PVP player, but at a much lower quantity, making him take much longer to get a good ship. Instead of making it impossible.
  9. If the density of ore in the pvp zone was 5 times higher than in non pvp zone, you will still have a reason to fight. What you want is to "fight to survive" instead of "fight to have an advantage" You want everyone to be forced to fight. Why? For you to have pray. But those guys you think should be your pray will simply quit the game instead of being your pray. You are "exhausting" your own food.
  10. This is selfishness. He wants to have a opportunity to sell t5, like you do. But in your head, its your way or the highway. No one is saying that it has to be effortlessly(just you). He will have to have a ship. Find the asteroid before others do. Search for hours and grind for hours and travel for hours. This is NOT effortlessly. He is just not risking his ship to some pirate. Does he deserve the same amount of t5 that some PVPers does. No. Does he deserve to be completely bared from the experience. No.
  11. Whats the relevance of this question? 1st you are ignoring t4 and the best scap there is. 2nd he can be storing it for a future need. Its not up to you to question this.
  12. I guess i was alone in thinking that grinding and looking at empty space for 3 hour travel was not fun.. Hell, NQ even did a full communication just for me alone:
  13. You should quote something before writing "agree".
  14. True. False. But what ever the game was meant was proven to be not viable. And the management was changed because of that.
  15. You fail to understand what a "lion" is. The lion is the one that makes other animals give up just by being there. This game promotes the perpetuation of "lions". Everyone else is a zebra.
  16. Allowing non PVPers to play the game is not PvE-centric. Most Empyrion servers are PvE-centric. You actually have to go to a specific star to do pvp. And that star has no resources. Thats not what I want for DU. I want PvE players to have a harder life than PvP players. If a PvP player can make 1M quanta in 10 hours, a PvE player should need 50 hours. But the PvE player should be able to play the game. The idea that saying "this is not a PvE game, so screw you" is ok, is just wrong. This game cannot survive with only Alpha males. Someone needs to stay reasonably happy with a K/D of 0.2.
  17. Thats something the JC's vision failed to understand. I have given this example before and i will repeated For lions to have zebras to hunt, zebras need to have plants to eat. Full pvp players are the lions Non pvp players are the zebras NPCs are the plants If non pvp players dont have any source of joy and accomplishment(by killing easy npcs), thet will eventually quit the game (no more zebras)
  18. I agree with some but also disagree with other. I agree that the game should be more friendly to non pvp players and/or lone wolfs. NPCs are a must. Talent bonus should be lower, specially for "on placing" to reduce big org advantages. But i disagree with your repulse to PVP. This is a PVP oriented game. People should be heavily rewarded for facing PVP. The trick is to make a game where non PVPers have a harder life but not an impossible life.
  19. The original idea was to have a "energy" system. But it was not considered a priority.
  20. This is a symptom. But its not the real problem. Legion is only the current "face" of the problem. If they are defeated some new "face" will be here, oppressing players exactly like Legion is. The real problem is the lack of strategy in DU. There are no "strategic points" to defend. Legion is free to send their entire fleet to any location in the system without suffering any consequences. Even in the pvp zone, there are no consequences on retreating. It's not like the retreating party is loosing an important strategic point. The game strategy is resumed to one metric. More = win. This is the perfect scenario for a hegemony to grow. The game is the problem, not Legion or the players that dont want to fight Legion.
  21. The game does NOT promote balance of power. Sure some people can make the choice to fight them. But they will either quickly win or quickly lose. There wont ever be a "balance"
  22. I don't understand the relevance of the question. Lets say the answer is: "yes, we the ABC org will fight them" What will change? Will you, the single player, be allowed to scan an asteroid? Or will "ABC org" kill you on sight too? How do you think "Legion" or "AC" was created? Here is the thing. Balanced war is not profitable for the fighters. It's a huge waste of resources. So why should any org battle with Legion when they can make an agreement, or even join ranks? Do you get it now? It does not matter who will be the next Alpha org, there won't be any prolonged war. PPl will only fight a quick battle for an overwhelming win, or they will make deals and not have a war at all. Unlike EVE, there are no borders, strategic sectors, stations to make a losing side hide in their bastion. Here all is within reach and war has devastating consequences. Unless the game design changes, this will be the future of DU, forever.
  23. I can confirm he is a member of NQ's white knights.
  24. Im usually not a fan of memes and videos in thread replies. But this one put a smile in my face. The nostalgia, the art and the accuracy of this thread with the music was a 10 out of 10 match
