Voxel auto-shaping

Hey everyone,

 

if this was ever asked before, then i am sorry. I did not find the post then :)

i was just wondering if there is a way to turn of these "auto-shaping" of voxels while building? 

For example: if i place a triangle/ramp right beside a cube, the cube gets a bit squished on the side facing the lower half of the triangle/ramp.

I find this really annoying sometimes :(

We've been asking for the option to completely disable this since early alpha. Seems they either can't, or won't do that. So you stuck with the incredibly frustrating mutating shapes.

Actually you can get some extremely great results if you practice with shapes, you can get the voxels to take shapes that are not ingame on the select menu. I did a live stream today explaining and showing a lot of this, you can watch the past broadcast to see in more detail at Twitch.tv/iorail.

I figured something out and I wanted to share with you @Saithis, if you use different colours of voxels (or maybe different material types) it seem like it doesnt connect, for example I used black aluminium and orange plastic together and they don't seem to connect on the ramps in my ship to mold to the higher parts (my floors sort of sink in the ground like a runway).

 

Give it a try and see if it helps.
