  1. Is this "Eternal" account an actual person or a failed AI experiment? This response essay makes absolutely no sense at all. /s
  2. Someone here once said DU is the "you just do not understand" company seems fitting
  3. It's just a shame the asteroids are not actually a dynamic part of the world. They are a dev driven event with a weekly refresh/respawn rate. And as such, those with money and resources can simply hijack the event and block the gameplay from most others, few as they are anyway. DU is not really a MMO game, it is a game with less than a handful of active groups where each seem to pretty much control part of the game and all seem content with maintaining this status quo. Until the lights go off that is.
  4. Because NQ has shown a structural tendency to not "fix" damage caused by exploits and has pretty much every time just closed the loophole (or better yet, carpet bomb the issue, causing significant impact for the game as a whole) and moved on without removing the gains from exploits. This started the day the game wiped the week before beta started. Many players jumped ahead weeks, if not months within the first hours of the game "starting fresh". Players have gained advantages from exploit that will last them years. I understand you may want to choose to believe they will change, but NQ have not shown anything that would lead one to expect this will happen sometime in the future.
  5. Pretty much the story of DU and how NQ treats it. The game is choke full of "temporary" fixes..
  6. Not really and the way this is worded shows that NQ does not really understand the concept/mechanic. Tracking is directly related to transversal velocity as in; If there is no transversal velocity, the big guns will track just fine and probably one-shot the smaller ship. If the smaller ship uses it's agility to create transversal velocity which is higher that the tracking ability of the larger guns, it will be come (much) harder for the guns to track and hence, hit. I doubt DU actually takes transversal velocity into account or even calcutates it.
  7. FB is already downplaying the sky high expectations because they know they will not be delivering what people expect but have run out of options with regards to more delays. "technically speaking EA is still Alpha" is just setting up the excuse beforehand. Their language has changed to much more crowdcontrol andl ess brazen, firing shots at others because they know their game is up on the chopping block next. I for one will not judge Starbase by their EA release, I expect that to be very bumpy. I wil ljudge them on their ability to resolve the issues, get the train rolling and how frequent they produce corrections and fixes to the no doubrt many issues that will start showing up once many get their hands on the game. NQ failed in this respect through JC who just kept up the "you lot just do not understand, why do you keep being so negative" mantra which also was, and still is, heard through a number of the NQ employees.
  8. In any normal situation yes, I'd agree that this data should be available. But we have historical data whcih at least suggests NQ does not have very specific data logging which prevents them from pinpointing events and reversing them. It's why (it woudl appear) they are reluctant to act and if they do , do so in a very broadstoke manner. This is a pattern with them. Calling someone's position BS because of what you expect to be the case in general seems quite risky where NQ is concerned
  9. If you call BS, you better have facts to back it up, Please share what you have that tells you this is certainly the case. I'd say at best you are assuming this is so.
  10. This feel very much spot on. It is tough to build PVP in a way that will be generally accepted by a wide verienty of PVP oriented players. It is much easier to cater to people who build, design and do this just to show off without much purpose of application of their creations in game outside of display it. And when you managed to pretty much remoev any content creators who do something different from your roster.. even more so. NQ has always bent over backwards to keep the Lanmark style players happy, they pretty much cancelled the new biomes and new planet tech because they did not wantt o upset them as it woud mean they needed to wipe. NQ postponed the org rework because of the complaints and crying from that side because it woudl mean the massive space port would need a massive rework, if it even would be possible still.
  11. Fair point.. and yes, something NQ will really need to fix, The drawdistance of doors, force shields, landing gear etc is crazy short. Being able to just sprint towards where a door should be to get in to a construct is not really acceptable.
  12. Justifying log off beacon alts on a constructs hull is nonsense, NQ carpet bombing the issue the way they now did is just as silly. If you'd manage to get an alt INSIDE a construct as a stowaway I'd frankly see no issue. It's on the hauler to keep his doors locked after all. NQ probably is not able to determine is someone is IN or ON a construct so they just created a broad stroke "solution". It's really just another problem cause by half implemented game mechanics. Having pressurised environments would have made this way easier.. AND add interesting gameplay options..
  13. Without AvA/CvA gameplay, fall damage or any sort off survival mechanics, the whole idea of Asteroids being "PVP magnets" is silly. At best pirates will "camp" asteroids and while doing so are easily detected from great distance.7410 Pack a small static construct in inventory Hitch a ride on a small, fast accelerating ship to a scanned asteroid. Do not even have to land, just jump off and jetpack to the asteroid (you could just jetpack/slowboat to the asteroid from a safe zone actually) Dig a hole and set up the small Static construct with pretty much just some storage Mine Bring in ship just big enough to carry ore back transport ore to ship Pack up base and transport to ship leave Unless an underground static core construct can be attacked from space, there is nothing anyone can do to you while you mine. and you just wait for the traffic to clear before you call in your alt/buddy with the transporter. Now obviously, NQ will nerf linked container range into the ground not to long from now to stop players from just pulling ore into a ship from 2K away.. prepare linked container range to go down to as little as 500 meters or less.
  14. I kind of keep the game in maintenance mode on GFN and uninstalled locally. My main and alts have 300+ days random training going as I fully expect a full talent point reset somewhere in the next year, if not a wipe with points returned and blueprints provided. For now, the game is far removed from where NQ like to pretend it is, at best the game is an early alpha with very basic UI and UX choices. I noticed many of the original backers have vanished and many more are just hoping the game will be worth returning to some day. As mentioned earlier, the tile occupation on Sanctuary, while not a fully accurate metric, is indicative of stagnating growth and certainly of well below required player number for the game to be self supporting. Recent changes could be good in that NQ is regrouping and focussed more on what they can actually deliver, with the option to speed up/over deliver where possible. But what will come of that remains to be seen. Overall I think NQ has not been able to do what they set out to do yet and there really is no solid indicator they will be, even when they are trying. The game lacks coherence, depth, has core tech issue that impact the ability for further development and overall.. just is not there. the Idea of no PVE/NPCs IMO was a big mistake even when I get where it came from. The game design was built on the expectation that players would come in massive numbers and mostly do the work as far as content goes and that just did not happen outside of a handful of small group projects , mostly around one or a few streamers. I've seen some of the most committed players leave or go silent, some who were very vocal and had strong opinions about the game. I just do not know if NQ will be able to last long enough to make this game into what it needs to be to have a chance to survive.
  15. This just seems weird to me. if someone leaves the doors open and you enter the construct, that is an exploit now? Feels like a rather broad stroke solution to the problem of mass/locator alts being logged off on construct hulls. I can think of a good number of situations where this approach would actually hinder normal gameplay if this "rule" is upheld. There are fairly easy solutions which have been suggested here and elsewhere for months by several people and yet, NQ ignores any and all of these and just carpet bombs the issue, hoping it will just vanish.
  16. The schematics are not the problem. In many ways they make sense actually. It is the way NQ introduced and implemented them which is what is the issue here.
  17. JC is still CEO there (he is not even with NQ anymore as far as we've been informed) and the announcement of the Montreal studio is featured (which happened well over two years ago). So much for being current and accurate ..
  18. NQ shows 64 employees on LinkedIN, the vast majority of those have nothing to do with actual development and many are in "management". There's also quite a few who seem "loosely" attached to NQ. So yeah.. I'd be surprised of there are even 10 people actually/actively writing code and working on the game in that way. Having 10 quality devs can result in a lot of progress in a relatively short time but I would not be surprised if their management and tasking is severely lacking as well in the case of DU.
  19. That is my hope too @Perry666 In the "JC years", NQ has mostly overpromised, painted a much rosier picture than reality and lost a _lot_ of time (I'd say at least 1, probably closer to 2 years) and wasted resources chasing the unattainable promised and goals JC set. Now that JC is gone and we see the first real signs of a more attainable, manageable and achievable set of goals, I for one would be willing to give NQ another chance to show they mean business this time. If they deliver only on what the latest roadmap shows then yes, that would not be good as it would mean progress is way to slow. If they over-deliver and bring us more than what they set out to do then there is hope for a recovery as I see it. Their abysmal track record so far has very much polarized their community and the responses here certainly show that. I'd say, let them show they actually have the intent and purpose to now move on and deliver a game we can all enjoy.. It's another chance yes, and probably their last one but at least I'd say they should get this opportunity to show what they've got.
  20. While the roadmap is fairly empty, it is achievable AND if NQ manages to add some cherries into the mix while rolling out these updates, they can boast to be able to over deliver on their promises.. Much better than consistently overpromising and not delivering .. If NQ manages to not at least deliver on what they outlined here for this year, that would be an entirely different problem as they are now setting goals which should be achievable (even) for them.
  21. For me the big positive is that the roadmap as it is now presented is much more achievable for NQ and inline with their progress so far. It feels like that, with JC out of the way, they are coming around to not overpromising all the fancy things but committing to what they can achieve. And that is certainly good. On the other hand, asteroids without AvA/AvC mechanics really do not make much sense. Once you get a character on the asteroid you are entirely safe, you dig a hole, drop a core and a container and start mining. your container is safe from harm until the area is clear to be collected. Potentially, this could be interesting for missions though, you mine out the asteroid, then leave a hauler mission for someone to bring it home and the collateral covers any risk.. From what was "promised" in December by JC most is now not even mentioned. There is no word on: Energy and power management Player Markets Vertex Editor AvA / AvC / CvA Pets Assembly facilities / Mass construction Territory Warfare Second Solar System Stargates So indeed, there is good and not so great.. And a fair indication that "release" is at least two years away
  22. How is this roadmap supporting a "hope to release halfway 2022"? I'd be surprised to see a release in 2022 at all And that is really not bad.. If only NQ would come out and set the expectation. For this year, the plans seem reasonable as far as what is achievable. The TBD parts though will take more than a year to complete and there is more to be done .. much more.. What I expect .. "Mid summer" = late July/early August "Late summer/early Fall" = 2nd half September "Fall" = late November/early December A three month cadence between "major" updates is good. The progress each update shows however is not great. But let's see what NQ delivers ..
