And when i try to go to the correct forum - i get the identical error message as when i try logging onto the game.

Talking about logging on is NOT the same as talking about BEING on.

I was curious if anyone else had the same problem.  Nothing more, nothing less.  That is NOT an NDA violation and your reply was little more than "Look how much i know and you dont" it's really irritating.

Well if you had explained all that then that would have been better. Posting access day/times however could be an NDA breach.

It seems like DU may have a login server issue - but thats just a guess, i have NO IDEA.

And this has nothing to do with any form of 'Dick Measuring' as you are implying. Ive seen NDA's before where the above would be a breach - its as simple as that.

    Cheers

heh ? I didnt say automation is real, just wonder other guy point when he say there is other job for newbie even we got automation so i just ask him which job will newbie can do. I totally know that no automation mate lol, read my comment

I just re-read your comment, that whole paragraph seemed to imply there were large amounts of automation.....

So in the end new bro will have little ( or none ) game experience, money, resource, knowledge, skill, way to go( mean what to do), cant even mining to get better life because automation make ore so cheap to the point you can trash it without regret. Cant join building operation because automation is cheap labor than you, cant even get out of safe zone without being scam or rob.

So please englighten me to know what other job you are meaning ?

Mining wont be automated. Individuals might be more experienced than a new bro with mining  but there wont be any mining automation.

Yeah because big guns are known to take down smaller fast ships with ease.

    I like the sarcasm :)

I must admit in theory it sounds good to put small ships weapons on a big ship, but if I was in a little ship approaching such a large ship, i would simply give it a wide berth greatly reducing the chance of small weapons hits as well as hopefully still being fast enough to avoid any large ship weapons.

We will see however what NQ eventually rolls out - we might all be wrong.

Is this where we put in an order for a nice big double helping of asteroid belt? Belters gotta live somewhere ;)

I like the idea of drifting asteroids, if at all possible, though I expect we would only see something like this after release if at all.

there is nothing stopping you from making a space ship look like an asteroid ;)

The asteroid thing might be something worth exploring.

Some kind of randomized space rocks that drift into our explorable space and back out eventually.  They could contain rare elements or high concentrations of valuable materials.

Finding them and exploiting them, protecting them and keeping them secret, could all make for some interesting gameplay.  As long as it felt realistic.

NQ has said that asteroids will be static units, no movement, no drifting.

so been following this game for a short time looks really good but my biggest worry is the sandbox mmorpg aspect, build anywhere, player driven, uh have yu not taken a look at eve online? CCP did the same thing gave players 100% freedom to run there games universe and what did everyone turn into? trolls, griefers and muggers, same damn thing will happen here sorry to say.

OK, I know many of you are from an EVE Online background, myself included, but there is another game that I feel DU will be like, and that is Second Life. Granted Second Life (SL) uses prims instead of voxels but it is a heavily used MMO based around building and partying lol. It is a completely user built environment, however it is not a user destroyed environment like DU will be.

SL, like EVE, has been successfully chugging along for over a decade. It has its share of 'griefers' too but they can be dealt with, just like I'm sure will be possible in DU - especially within the safe zones, they are safe zones after all!

So for me the safe zones will be very much like an SL environment and other zones being more like EVE. Both will work hand in hand with the lands of opportunity (non safe zones) like the wild west creating the demand for goods and services and the safe zones being the initial way of safe building.

I think this is a very clever setup by NQ.

Over time as large orgs setup their own org safe zones then likely higher level manufacturing will occur in those 'outer rim' locations. These areas too will be relatively safe. (yes I have lived in EVE nullsec and found it quite survivable.)

I also think people need to get over the idea of 'the griefer'. Giefers are just people perusing their own path in the game and if you dont like that path see what you can do to stop them. This is what emergent game play is all about.

Being able to play solo and/or in a group(s) is a fine ambition for DU to follow. There is no right nor wrong play style here, as long as the player is happy in their style thats all that counts. And if they aren't then DU provides the paths to get the upper hand.

Sure, there may be tears, but every tear is a learning experience and thats what makes EVE and DU a long lasting environment. These challenges also change over time, thus keeping things interesting.

Where DU ends up being superior is that it may be tricky in PvP contexts to correctly size up an opponent due to diverse ship/building designs - providing more diverse/challenging and hence fun :)

If you believe that grinding to get to level xxx is the way to play a game then DU/EVE/SL wont be for your. Games like DU are for those that like the variety of life, the unexpected, the good and the 'bad'. That is life after all.

So roll on DU - your mission has just begun!

Why dont we, de new Human of the new world create those event ?
Like a big ship crash into the planetary trade center in the capital of Empire Alioth.
Like that we dont need AI, we should create event ourself.

that is what emergent game play is all about :)

NQ said that the game will have lots of types of fuels, so why not have fuels that are in real life?

Pretty sure future fuels will be more energy dense than current fuels - especially where space is concerned. I have no issue with different fuel names to what we know today.

    3) Okay, so the server player distribution is not based on in game location(e.g. every 100km^3 is in diffrent server) But that doesn't mean it won't be a clusterf*** at launch.

    4) If you want to go out to 100 AUs in a reasonable amount of time, its going to require tech that we probably won't have at launch and we don't know about the resource distribution in game but I suspect most of it will be mined from planets because game logic. Besides, encouraging isolation as a means of survival goes against the whole "this is a social game" concept.

on point 3 it means there is likely to be an architectural clusterfeck compared to pre-DU systems

On point 4 you can easily isolate en-mass. There is nothing stopping a group of say 100+ people from building a 'hidden' outpost somewhere so you get isolation plus social game. They are not mutually exclusive.

I really REALLY want to enjoy this product but so long as they continue to have "Pre-Alpha Access!" at hours that are unacceptable to anyone with a lick of creative thought in my area, i'll just have to wait another year for the beta to get released :(

No...i'm not getting up at 6am on a Saturday just to have a few hours access.  Call me silly but as a gamer, if i'm up at 6am Sat morning its because i haven't gone to bed yet.

Love the unicorn you made in LM btw :)

the game is in development, its not released.

    Development takes time.

Be grateful they let anyone into a pre-alpha product.

I was thinking that websites could be displayed onto screens and people could stream GIFs or videos from other websites.

That would end up being a huge security issue as well as stability.... not to mention develpmemt resources as u r effectively making an in game web browser

So i was watching some of the NQ youtube videos from the alpha( i dont have access). and i noticed that the smoke plume from the direction thrusters are huge. so i thought that considering  all the futuristic tech the can make the directional thrusters less mono propellant/NASA like. more like star wars repulsors.... if that makes sense.... sorry if i broke NDA in any way.

Cant break NDA if its on a NQ video ;)

I dont mind the big plumes as Im assuming that the ships will grow in size and so the apparent bigness will reduce. After all the pre-alpha guys n gals only had several hours to make ships - cant make huge ships in that time ;)

In regards to the concerns over the Odal (Othala) rune, I did base the original logo design off the rune, and elongated it, adding pointed tips to the wings to give it some distinctive features. At the time, I didn’t know that the rune had been associated with neo-nazi groups. I’ve more recently become aware of this and anticipated that it could become an issue. Clearly, our intention is not to promote these groups or their ideologies in any way. In the end, we went with the logo because of the aesthetics and thought it evoked the shape of a starship as @Shockeray pointed out.

The logo has already become a recognizable symbol of our corp to many within the community, so our hope is that we can fully associate this symbol with our contribution to the world as a ship-building corporation in Dual Universe. We acknowledge the similarities, and ultimately it is at the discretion of NovaQuark whether we should be allowed to use the emblem. As much as the logo has become an important part of our identity, we respect any issues the others may find with it and are open to opinions on the topic.

Some people see similarities in a variety of shapes : "Look its the face of Jesus on my toast!"

I wouldnt worry about your logo, I dont see any issues with it at all.

If anyone wants to make correlations between it and something else just tell em to get a life ;) lol

I personally think its a great logo.

    Cheers
