Welcome Mate

i realllllly hope that the planetary hologlobe is functional, it would add so much more need for a bridge or CIC

Im going to assume weapons will be made by players, seeing as how there wont be NPC's to do so. Player combat seems to be a RNG game with the ability to increase your chances for a hit by leveling up and upgrading your weapons.

I'm pritty sure large scale mining wont be done with ships, atleast not on planets cuz ya know, gravity and such. But maybe land crawlers or mobile/stationary rigs.

Thank you, this all went from humorous/sort of serious, to petty real quick.

Uhm, where did they say it's 30km? Cause somebody use the 8km station in the gameplay footage and calculated the radius of the earth-like world to be 100km. And there are so far, two planets on the starting system.
And IMO, if the devs find that more people are anticipated in launch, they pop up a third planet on the starting system and everything is bueno mucho.
For all we know, the devs may hard spawn people on planets, given a landmass per person ratio.
we have adopted the usual way of partitioning the surface of the planet with a large number of hexagonal tiles (note that you’ll also marginally have 12 pentagons in the lot: there is no way to have an isotropic uniform tiling of a sphere). Tiles are about 1km large and for a 30km radius planet, it basically looks like this:

Actually, I think I'm done with the forums for a long while. It seems like every other topic just turns toxic now. It used to be not more than 2 months ago that one could come here with ideas and people would talk about them openly and talk about how cool things would be for the game. Now I can't escape creating a new topic where someone with a 4 day old account is going to call me stupid.
When did this place attract so many negative people? I can't even escape it in Discord, neither on the public one nor my own (or rather, now former) Alliance's discord without my ideas being called "Shit".
I used to feel like I had some value to add here to the forums, I felt like a lot of people here did.
Maybe things will get better in the future, but now I feel it's just not the open-to-ideas community I thought it once was.
we didnt call your ideas shit, you overreacted. We simply said why we think it is a bad idea

I wouldn't expect them to add in-depth melee combat. Combat using rifles and such, for sure. Adding in melee combat more in-depth than the simple swing is more complicated than it sounds. Chivalry based an entire game on it, and even they still didn't get it right. I would imagine some sort of melee combat will be added, though. However, I wouldn't expect anything further forward from the classic left click attack, right click stronger attack / special attack.
Despite all that, I wouldn't mind seeing something more complicated myself. I'm just not sure it'll happen in a game such as DU.
tbh i wouldn't want them to focus their resources on such a small part of the game, but still having a basic melee system with left and right click is better than having none at all. I haven't read if they are going for a stamina system yet, but that could play into melee

How about Player to player Combat?
in The Gameplay Mechanics Assembly

yes its why they are opting for tabed based since ships wont always actually be where you see them and the Lock-on combat will correct for it. But that been said that is ships, not people and i don't see that many people been one area often enough to justify it. But if it does come a time when people are that clumped, firing wildly and using explosives will do sure enough job.
Personally i'd just rather see the lock-on mechanic for ships and regular fps mechanics for infantry.
