  1. I believe Gas Giants would be an interesting source for large amounts of materials ungatherable through a standard planet. But as Twerk has said, it'd look and function oddly because of the fact that there are no water physics, or, very limited water physics :P

I think it would be an awesome idea to be able to build a low orbit mining station that continuously mined the gas that you chose to mine after surveying the planets gas composition, or alternatively, had a ship that did the same thing (for safeties sake, of course). With the ability to mine gas giants, it would give them a use instead of just being celestial bodies that you use as navigational points. :P

But, unfortunately, if they are to be in the game, it'll be later on down the track, post launch. As both these gents have stated above me. :)

  2. Right-o, first off, welcome!

Secondly, the gold pack will indeed grant you access to the alpha, it's part of the pledge and anything bought beyond gold gets access to the alpha.
Apart from that, if you were to be chosen by the developers (I'm unsure if they are doing another round or not now thanks to the kickstarter), you'd have to be a good, contributing member to the community.

But, thanks to your pledge, you wouldn't have to worry too much about trying to gain access via selection because you already have it, as stated above by Lord_Void.

As for age, I concur with the other two, no one really would have known if you hadn't have said anything :P

  3. Unfortunately, I do not believe there are any dedicated and active Warhammer 40,000-esque organizations around, though I've never really dug to try and find that specifically.
I'm sure if one were started within the idea, and without straight up stealing copyrighted material ( ;) ) it would probably get some members, i'm unsure how popular it would be, to be honest. I think your more likely to find Organizations that are related to true sci-fi shows and movies than games/table top games. That's my two cents though, I could be wrong.

Anyway, I hope you find a comfy home soon too.

  4. I ten to take the stance of 'If I have 'x' amount stockpiled and ready, I'll sell the excess', it's just one of those things where having too much can just weigh down your options as to movement, etc.

If I were to permanently setup somewhere and know that I'm going to be statically placed for months at a time, I'd probably keep everything.
The other thing is, you have to look at it as instant profit vs long term profit, both equally good, but it's up to the player at that point.

As for full organizations, I haven't yet seen any that are just dedicated to it either.

  5. This is a very good find, I don't believe the portal itself is highly moderated. But I know that they are trying to fix this with new iterations of the community portal.
The acknowledged the posts that were too numerous to count that were spammed each day by several people, but I've not witnessed these organization spammers.

And I agree, holding names for later on down the track is fine, but having several, like 10 - 15 organization names held, or made just to be spammy is not good.

Have you sent this directly to either or @NQ-Nomad

I suggest doing that to bring their attention more directly to it :D

Howdy folks, another day another set of charts!

As you can see from today, it's another average day of low growth, just meaning that there has been less than ten or so members joining the top ten.

There really isn't too much to point out today, but, Dual Secure, who is number eleven is now known as Dual Secure Military.

    Anyway,
just remember if you are looking for a group to join, search through more than the top ten, they may seem great but there may be more fitting options for you elsewhere!

Welcome to the new year everyone!
Hope it's all looking uphill from today.

As you can see from todays charts we have had a little growth again, adding to the ever expanding group of members that are the top ten.

Along with this, I have some forum stats for the last month!

    Average Daily User Join: 12
    Average Daily Post Count: 61

Which totaled out to be 358 new users this past month along with 1,813 new posts this month!
While not the greatest growth month I've recorded, it just says that the forums are alive and growing, as is the community.

    As for organization stats:

In total, the top ten gained 141 new members.
The average daily join count (including non-unique members) was 5 members a day.
The largest daily average growth was by Terran Union gaining 2 Members a day on average followed by Cinderfall Syndicate with 1 a day, average.

Anyway, thats all the special stats! Hope you are all not hung over and are enjoying your weekend/new years day!

    Happy New Year from Australia!

Hope you are all having a wonderful day/night of celebrating or doing whatever you do this day!

Todays has been a small spike in the member growth, with six members joining the top ten in total compared to the relative ones and twos over the past few days.
With this being said, I presume that this is because of people having time to go through and accept new members!

The past few months have shown some interesting growth. Luckily, there hasn't been a huge amount of loss! The community has been growing quite significantly since the start of the kickstarter till now.
Good to see within a few months, there are over a thousand organisations and the forums have hit over thirty thousand posts and four thousand users!

I only see this grand game and its community growing into the next year and I can't wait to see what happens with this data and how the alpha release will dictate it!

    Anyways,
I hope that your first day of 2017 isn't too groggy!
I can't wait to see whats in store and I hope you guys keep reading through the data and giving feedback.
It's what keeps me doing this!

    Thanks.

Well, I hope you are all having a good Friday!

I'm back in the swing of things here, so here are todays charts, with some, but not huge growth. Matching the recent patterns of less than five members a day joining organizations.

Along with it being New Years Eve tomorrow, I will be posting extra stats!

  10. Presumably, this mechanic would just affect the territory it's placed in regardless of its location within this territory.

The whole idea of the territory unit is to stake your claim to the land you live on, either way, whether it is underground or locked in a rather large fortress of death (lasers included), it's going to be a hard asset to go after.

There have been no actual details on this and it's all stipulation, but I'm hoping that they allow you to build it wherever you choose so you can build a larger bunker network to defend it with, allowing people time and planning space to defend it.
I understand though, it may end up being a grind if it's that way!

Hopefully there is some balance to it, we'll really have to wait for an actual development release though surrounding just the territory unit.

  11. In the interest of providing some hard data to debate, I have looked through the "Last Post Wins" and "King of the Hill" threads (the only two threads I saw that looked like they might be considered spammy). I ignored people who had only posted once, and came up with a list of 23 people who "actively" participate in "spam" threads. This is not to call anyone out, just to provide some info to the discussion. Data was collected shortly before I posted this. Percentage is the percentage of the user's total posts that have been made in spam threads. (Total Posts / Posts in Spam Thread = %)

I hope people find this data useful.

EDIT: Looks like the formatting got messed up a bit, but it's still readable so I'm not going to bother fixing it.

It's important to note, while I agree that posts in 'Off Topic' shouldn't be counted, just in case people do just start spamming, prevention is the best method afterall.

But, thanks to these lovely statistics we can see that only 0.9% of total posts are spam, if this were to bloat heavily, quickly, it would become an issue.

More because it means that the forum is slowly being turned into mainly spam posts, but depending on the perpetrators, they could be using it to either look like a bigger community member or fuel some strange ego boost via post count.

I don't know, sometimes it's just a thing that propagates, oddly.

However! The notion that we have a like bar that gains likes as you do for quality posts is an idea that sounds good! The only issue with that currently is you can like your own posts, but I'm sure that's reasonably easy to resolve.

That's just my two cents though.

    Nice stats, by the way.

First and foremost! I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Christmas, doing whatever it is that they do, seeing family, visiting friends, etc, etc!

That is one of the reasons I haven't posted recently, but to be completely honest, I've just been lazy about posting, but I also needed a rather lengthy break where I just collected the data and sat on it, but now, here is a batch of posts to mull over.

Now, as for the actual data, there hasn't been a huge amount of growth, but it has been a steady one to five member average of growth across the entire top ten the past several days. With this being said there are always out-lying days that have negative numbers or technically no growth.

Terran Union is slowly gaining on the four hundred member mark, with several other groups closing on the one hundred and two hundred member marks.
Dual Secure has also secured their position within the top ten, being a few members ahead of the next most days, with a loss not phasing their positioning too much.

To add to this, I have also ironed some issues with the unique member numbers line and charting.

With the holiday period comes slow growth while people are away, busy or just not motivated to join and talk to new groups and such related activities.

    All of that aside,
I hope you are having a wonderful day!
