  1. Anyone heard of negative publicity being "Good"? And since we're talking about delusional statements, here's mine: "I think OutlandishRep is a closet BOO! I think he's intentionally crafted negative publicity just to swell the ranks of his BOO...!"

OutlandishRep, when you're done with BOO would you come work for GTEC as our Campaign Manager, too?

  2. Welcome to the boards DaphneJones...Haven't we met somewhere before?....ok, ok...kinda lame I know but, I just couldn't resist... ;)

I jumped into KS without really looking

and now I'm stuck without money for cooking.

Maybe someday my DAC's will pay

for something other than DU play.

I guess for now I'll admire my Saphire Pledge

while starving to death on my patio ledge...!

  3. I just found this on the KS page under Scriptable Ships & Constructs..."Player built ships or constructs can be customized through LUA scripting. That means that all the elements inside your construct can be orchestrated to react to events and define new behaviors from AI to special piloting capabilities...." If elements can be orchestrated to react to events and define NEW behaviors from AI to special piloting it would be interesting to see if a script can turn your ship into an uncontrollable heap of space junk if you target the creator of that script or, worse...have your buildings collapse if war is declared!

  4. I now understand how organizations are intended to work in terms of gameplay: flexible, non-linear, very broad in its membership base. I guess organizations can place their own restrictions to ensure members do not have affiliations with other organizations that are in direct competition -- for example, you probably be able to work for Coca-Cola and Pepsi at the same time. I know that these are RL examples, that may not carry over to the DU gameplay, but that's what I was thinking.

    Hmmm...

  5. Volcanov, I also agree with preventing P2W features.

My thoughts were more in line with "the bigger an org is, the more expensive it becomes to run" or, at least it should be -- that could be its Achilles Heel.

The argument could also be made that a single player org can have more real-life money than a larger org -- rare, granted but potentially true.

However, if we set aside the last two statements, does the idea of having some sort of game mechanics in place covering declared and undeclared membership to multiple orgs worth further discussing? And, if so, what if any "Costs" should or should not be imposed on the "Primary" organization?

  6. I've heard where player Quests are available; how about Organization quests?  Membership size, financial ranking, number of worlds with a corporate presence, number of allies, number of enemies, etc., etc, could all fall under an Organization Quest.

Rewards given for completing Player/Organization quests can be deposited into both "accounts" -- player and organization strengthening the bond between the two.  Not only would the player(s) receive rewards in the form of skills points and/or monies but their Organizations, too!

  7. Is there any kind of ranking system for Organizations?

Something as a guide used by players to determine how best to invest their time -- in either a Blue-Chip organization (BCO) or a Penny-Stock organization (PSO).  BCO's are recognized, well-established and financially strong organizations that because of their size may not offer as many quests as a smaller organization can, like a PSO would. By definition a PSO would be a start-up with lots of potential for everyone involved but with a high risk of failure.

Which type of Organization would YOU join if such a system would exist?

I wonder if this would be something the dev team would want to consider?

  8. Are there game mechanics, in place or to be created, which makes it possible to be an "undeclared" member of your "Primary" Organization while at the SAME time being a "declared" member of another? For covert operations of course! Can we ever REALLY know who we're Recruiting...

Perhaps requiring Organizations to pay a DAC fee (call it a Black Ops fee) for each operative that if not paid would make their operatives easier to discover -- hmm, a Black Ops budget!

Any other ideas circulating out there where having a DAC fee imposed on an Organization would add flavor to the game?

  9. Will it be possible to create "Add-On" components which, in turn, have nefarious programming embedded giving advantage to an organization? Say for example, GTEC creates a very popular "widget" making spaceship weapons more accurate but, unknown to buyers, it was secretly designed to frequently miss a GTEC spacecraft?   Muahahaha, I can hear the wheels of many other possibilities spinning in the minds of many people!

What would you design, good or evil, if it were possible in the Dual Universe?

  10. Hi All, Just heard about this game and decided to back it. I love crafting was a master Artisan, Droid Engineer, and Shipwright in SWG. Looking forward to being able to build and more importantly LUA scrpting.

I too was a Master Artisan in SWG...ah if memory serves me well I remember making many runs to and from my harvesters just to create my first house...Loved it! Not familiar with LUA scripting but from the videos it seems easy enough...um, am I wrong??? ;)

  11. The GTEC are the ultimate capitalists. All matters of life are valued purely on economic terms; they are the galactic bankers, super-traders and information brokers; the interstellar financiers, the ones who always manipulate the Galactic pulse of Planetary Systems, Governments and Consortiums alike and seem to come out of any deal on top. When it comes to matters of money, trade and information, GTEC members are ruthless and would sell their own mothers into slavery if, in so doing it, a substantial profit/deal could be transacted; in fact, there are whispered rumors of GTEC's Founder having sold his mother into slavery under extremely secretive terms and conditions -- most probably the rumored acquisition of a planetary system considered having four of the richest mines ever to be discovered...at least that's what recent rumors are spreading.  Consideration into GTEC is open to all willing to Pay a "rite of passage" and proving their worth. You may be sent to broker an information agreement; to setup shop in a nefarious sector; or perhaps you'll be required to lead a team of ground and air forces to ensure GTEC interests are not infringed upon.

GTEC initiates that fail will either have all their personal assets coinfiscated as membership payment or given an opportunity to sell any one of their family members into slavery -- which guarantees membership.
