If you just let player make Markets like the NPC ones, all of a sudden your market search will have hundreds of different markets on Alioth. How will any of them be able to get on top; if they don't then we will keep going to market 6.wrong one.?

Erm price and location, like any business ever........

You know the difference between a marketplace and a market? Marketplaces is on the districts, while markets are not. People want to be there and nowhere else because the conveniences are right there such as the VR machines, the ship shop, trading machine with bots and storage, the district teleporters, the shuttle, and accessibility to the default respawn point!

When was the last time you played the game?  NQ separated the market terminals (trading machines) from the rest of services some times ago.  The teleporters, shuttles, default respawns etc are now a couple of km away, and pretty empty.   For someone who has such a strong opinion about the game, I am surprised you made such a fundamental mistake?

    1) Immediately suspend all schematic purchases. Make the price for all of the schematics $0 and refund all schematic purchases. Set a vendor at each planets most popular market that will have all schematics and allow each person to grab as many as they want for 30 days. After 30 days schematics sales can resume on the market at much lower prices. Any schematics claimed by a person since .23 will have no resale value.

    2) Send an e-mail out to every DU customer for the last year and inform them of such changes.

    3) Completely revamp the entire new player experience. Include in this new experience more and better rewards for doing the tutorials, classic quest givers that show people how to mine underground and upgrade their speeder. Rewards can be anything from cosmetic skins for their territory claims or speeder, tool, extra quanta, ores, containers and industrial machines. Get this done in time for the holiday shopping season, ie the second week of November.

    4) Send an e-mail to every DU customer for the last year notifying them of such changes.

    5) go on an advertising blitz to sell games for the holidays. Include in this blitz new promo videos that are REALISTIC AND ACTUAL GAMEPLAY, not some fanciful stuff that is no where near completion.

    6) Re-monetize your game for the holiday season. Sell the game for $9.99 U.S. with a one month subscription included. Add more options, especially a monthly option to subscription plans. Add various subscription plans that include bonuses such as ships, skins, quanta and pets for extra money tied to the game in the form of longer subscriptions or a higher base price. open a cash shop that is STRICKLY PAY FOR FUN. In this shop can be pets, skins, quanta and various other items.

    7) Provided all goes well and subscribers and game sales increase a fair amount provide a roadmap for 2022 that schedules major updates every three months which shall include the many things that the player base has been asking for.

This list is not at all comprehensive. I keep hearing how this game has so much potential, but potential isn't the only thing that a game needs to survive and thrive, and one of those things is listening to and acting on what the people playing the game want and need.

This has almost zero development in it, apart from remove schematics and improve FTUE (which is in the current roadmap), this is literally a marketing plan?!?

instead of addressing the core of the game like higher tier ore regeneration and the new player experience.

They are literally adding asteroids (which will be regenerating high tier ore), autominers (which will probably regen high tier ore) and a whole section of the roadmap is literally on first time user experience lol

  5. You do realise that some of the best builders on the game, such as One Thousand Stars, only build using basic shapes?  You can make incredible ships with the basic tools without having to use any tricks.  You can also purchase / get plenty of voxel libraries which are very easy to use.  If you dont like Voxelmancy, dont do it, you dont have to.

Really like the JSON / text storage idea though, very clever solution.

For different reasons - for example to have "a limit on how many industry machines a player can have running at once" (something you seem to agree with).

Energy is the ONE thing that can balance DU, it is vital to complete the game.  Big job to implement it properly though, it ties into everything.

DU is crippled and on the verge of death.

Weird, I have just come back to the game and it seems busier than it has been for a long time. The players I speak to in the community, who are playing the game, seem quite positive about the outlook.  Our org is seeing players come back to the game.  Mainly due to missions and asteroids.  Talking of which, I am not sure we can judge where the eco is until roids and auto miners are in, we will then see a massive shift in ore production, factories will be far easier to run.

I am really enjoying the economy at the moment, there are massive opportunities to sell products, even standard T1 stuff, making good quanta trading just on Alioth but also making sales on outer planets.

It would mean a lot of u der staffed, overgunned ships would be out patrolling calling in gun crew as soon as something was found.

what I’d like is to be able to run factories and stuff while in VR so I could do something during those long trips. That may get even more ships out into space. What would be fantastic would be since your ship is still moving, Bri g able to access your ships HUD while VRed away.

I generally build ship interiors during slow boating, or break LUA.

  9. PvP is still a placeholder, it needs shields and energy MINIMUM before you can even really discuss balance or gameplay. Shields on there own could break the 'borg' meta. For now you have to put up with it how it is.  The 'easy mode' they are all learning, will not be relevant.

For the record I lost a pretty stacked M core hauler yesterday to pirates whilst running missions to Sicari, was actually really exciting.  The pirates were pretty cool, arranged with them to buy the packages off them and they rebuilt my ship so I could go and BP it (as I had done a load of interior work and forgot to update it).

Yes there is a risk but let’s be honest the main reason to hunt these super whales will just be out of sheer Boredom and could even be called griefing.

Why would I put in time to hunt when the only reward is a bunch of heavy packages I can’t do anything with and a bunch of elements with dynamic properties that spam my inventory and if I want to try and use I have to load up 1 by 1 and just give me a tedious building chore. NQ really needs to do something about this side of the game because it’s always an afterthought resulting in alienating a whole player base.

A ship carrying 20 packages needs to be able to get nearer 40KT to 30km, which takes some engines, and it takes some stopping.  It will also need an AGG.  All of this does make these ships targets, according to the OP 90% of people running missions die lol. In all seriousness, there are plenty of stories of pirate getting a lot more action since this patch. I do 100% agree that the parcels need some value for pirates and this should be a priority, alongside some sort to randomisation of mission to limit how many can be taken.

    • Hauling Missions - Your Alioth hostess with the mostess, Aphelia, or other players will request delivery of goods from Point A to Point B. You’ll be handsomely rewarded for successfully completing the mission. These missions adhere to a particular list of parameters that includes specific locations, time limits, and collateral.
    • The Job Forum -  Earn some cold, hard quanta by accepting freeform contracts from fellow players to perform a service, such as fuel deliveries or providing security.
    • Challenges -  This repeatable, solo-player activity takes place outside the persistent game world, making it a perfect opportunity for new players to get a feel for maneuvering a ship without compromising a “real” one. More experienced pilots will also find challenges fun and financially rewarding. Enter a designated VR surrogate station, complete the objectives, and watch your wallet swell with pride.
Note: Additional challenge types will be added over time.

Indeed, some parts are player run, but most of this is just non-player. so I still have the same opinion on the non-player-content

Ok, will give you some actual feedback from someone who has used the system.

Hauling Mission - their are two types, a series of static NPC mission which contain various mission types some of which require the potential of pvp (something massively lacking in the game)
Player made hauling missions - these are similar but are created by players using an actual gameplay loop.  These were actually very popular at the weekend, at one point there were multiple pages of player hauling missions
Job Forums - this is more of an ad hoc system, people were using it for loads of things, posting mission but also advertising.  It is minimal but it works, although there is a lot NQ can do to improve it
Challenges - I havent done any but i will give them a try, they appear to be instanced mini mission mainly designed for new players to get into the game and control without risking ships

All in all it is a solid if basic system which it appears they have left open to be expanded, it will be interesting to see which of the other mission types they are able to create actual mission loops for, some are much harder than other in a player made game.

As someone who has really wanted more risk to my gameplay, I have really enjoyed the pvp zone missions.  Slow boating is not a massive issue for me, I just take some materials and work on the ship interior on the way or mess about with LUA.  I also welcome any addition to the game which allows players to communicate with each other and sell services, it is an area which is lacking.  I would really like to see much more it.

It part I agree about NPC content, i would prefer not to have but where the game is now, it needs it.  Hopefully player made content will overtake it but that is down to the players.

  12. Firstly I think we should calm down about the inflation, missions have just come out and a lot of people will be trying them, some will continue with them, plenty will go back to mining as there source of income.  Lets see what happens.  As soon as roids hit, we will have plenty of ore again........

As for the 'exploiting' for every package there is an increased risk, not only in the collateral but in the size of ship you need to carry all those packages.  If players are carrying 50 packs, they are doing it in a VERY large and expensive ship (or they have an actual exploit to move it).   I do though agree that a simple fix of randomising the mission, and having them disappear after a number of times (opening further missions elsewhere) is both a simple solution and much better gameplay.

Not doing missions but if i read correct, all missions come from NQ, then please delete the whole system. This is an mmo with no NPC, please dont bring in singleplayer stuff in an mmo.

And if im wrong, already told you, not doing the missions just reading this post. If missions are needed then only missions from other players, and if that doesnt work, well tada there is the answer (btw missions from other players are called Jobs, hmmmmm).

On the point of markets, all bots should be killed! Even ore is freakishly easy to get.

No you are not reading correctly, again it is far easier to actually have a opinion on something if you have used it.

The next shitstorm will come with the energy-System....

Wont be a shitstorm from me, but then we dont stack elements and build ships to carry stupidly large volumes.  Players that have built normal ships will be fine with energy, those that think haulage weight should be unlimited are going to have to rebuild everything.

Not to mention that once you get a ship optimized for bubble runs you pretty much make just as much or more then not going outside the bubble since you cannot warp and you face a 90% chance of being PvPed by scripts and the 8hr roadtrip you can make just as much ore more just avoiding it and staying in the bubble and keeping 100% of what you make vs losing 20mil in the process to make potentially 9 mil. Nobody in their right mind will do that.

I was running missions in space ALL weekend, was in pvp space for about 80% of my gametime, didnt even see a pirate let alone get shot at.  Where do you get your 90% from or did you just completely make it up?

Also it is easy to do missions in large ships, you just need some friends, carry missions for them.

Too be fair I see where you are coming from, it is possible to make a billion quanta with a single ship run so if people start copying the techniques you are going to see a new meta of quanta generating along with crazy inflation. Ore bot sales etc does not even come close to these methods

MY maths works it out that to make 1 billion you need to be moving around 200KT (around 250-300 L containers).  In a single trip

  17.

Going to be honest not sure there is a massive issue here, it is no different from 20 separate people doing a single run together.  It is just one person taking all the risk and doing all the work.  Today I was running a few packages for org mates whilst they were at work, not sure the difference.

Maybe the problem isn’t that he can do a 9 million job twenty times in a row, maybe the problem is that the biggest job is 2KT, 400KL. Would you be happier if instead there was an actual job which required you to haul 40KT, 8MT? Is the upper limit of missi No too low for end game level players and ships?

I cant wait until they release energy and all these crazy mega haulers and mega factories are gone................ only then can you have something resembling balance in this game.  When you cant simply slap on another engine to solve a problem.
