Qddiez got a reaction from Violet in How will you prevent people from getting harassed, trolled and griefed?
Maybe it would be simple if everybody would be more or less on the same level power wise but what about when faction A is 10x or more faction B? Faction B could ally itself or something but zergs will always rule at the end.
Imo it would be so much better if there would be a game mechanic that would actually make consider pros and cons of attacking someone form a strategically point of view and not just for the lulz of it.
Balancing a game play well is far away from "simple" and something most MMOs are still trying to achieve.

One of the biggest turnoffs for mmorpg space games like eve online for me has been the constant harassment and infringement of other players while I am trying to enjoy the game.  I want to be able to mine asteroids explore and trade without the constant annoyance that some jerk will decide they will blow up my ship and destroy all that I tried to do just because they felt like it? So before me and my friends decide to get this game and invest our time, please explain how you will prevent people from bothering players who do not want to be bothered?

    1. Hmm, if you trace back to all of my posts, I do not believe I have for once support this project as EVE 2.0. Personally, I rather NOT have any part of the Scammer/PvP/trickery game play in this game. Sandbox yes, lawlessness, no.

    2. And some of the biggest/longest running scams in EVE happened within orgs.

I definitely don't think scamming should simply be allowed.

I'm not exactly sure what we are defining as scamming here.  But in most of the games i have played scammers almost always take advantage of design flaws, like items having similar names or similar icons.  Or even just taking advantage of unavoidable aspects of games like pvp invulnerability areas or being able to log out of the game.

There's nothing realistic about someone pulling a bait and switch on you and then vanishing into thin air.  And being able to start new characters or change names easily means there's no danger of gaining the reputation of a scammer.

Being a Conman in a game might sound cool on paper, but when the actual act depends entirely on praying on confused new players.  That doesn't sound good to me at all.

The idea of players being able to match wits somehow in the game sounds great.  But it should be done in a way where everyone understands the rules and the stakes of what they're getting into.
