Hirnsausen
B y night, the market platforms are WAY TOO DARK. Why not to look to a modern city in real life, where the air itself luminates and makes the night to a darker day? You could define an area of air around the platform that has slightly luminescent attributes and ensures, that the landing area and some area around the platforms are better illuminated by night. You optionally could even use an algorhythm that counts the number of parked ships (or installed lights on ships) that influences the illumination factor of the air around the platform, to create some variety of lumination intensity. However, never the intensity can be more than a third of the day brightness, and in all cases it still must be not as dark as currently during nights. Even the colors of installed ship lights could be a factor, in this case influencing the over-all color of the air luminescence. The illumination of the platform must be seen from afar, so it is easier for incoming, inbound ships to spot platform and free landing areas.
