  1. Goodbye Dual Universe. I don't think devs and/or publishers are interested in keeping this game alive anymore. in early access days i was invited to try the game, they gave me 6 months gametime, but after they did a wipe, i stopped playing. about 2 years ago they gave me another 12 months gametime so i can make videos, but they're not really interested anymore. I ran out of gametime about month ago and they only gave me 1 month extension .. after trying to reach them for 3 months! what am i going to do with 1 month? i can't get anything done .. it causes me only more stress than i already have. so today i released my last video (probably) that i had ready and think i'm done now. I put all my stuff on haven, so it should be safe in case they decide to provide me more gametime, but otherwise i have no money to pay for the game, specially with cry-worthy views i get from these videos. as long as i can play for free, i don't mind making videos along the way, but game isn't worth paying for. I really like the concept, but 2 big problems for me are: 1) it's not free to play and 2) extreme lag, i get 5-15fps with L-core ships, even tho none of my hardware is under 100% load, otherwise GPU is under constant 100% load for no reason at all, even if i look at ground that has less going on than in minecraft, it still uses 100% of GPU, why? DU is honestly the worst optimized game i have ever seen, it lags SO BAD. there's 0 optimization. i rather not go into details, but anyone who knows how computers work, knows GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) renders what you see on monitor, it turns digital data into pixel-data, which is how graphics are generated. So when you're looking at BLACK page, there's very minimal amount of GPU usage, because it just has to refresh that black screen and nothing else, it doesn't have to calculate new data. This is why in most games when using ultra graphics in 4k, you will start seeing lower FPS in areas that have lot going on, GPU has to do billions of calculations per second to render that image, BUT when you're looking at GROUND, that has just basic texture data, GPU doesn't have to work much at all, but in DU your GPU is under 100% load no matter if you look at ground or not .. this is what i never understood, how can devs not fix this? in fact, one month i played only DU, about 4-8 hours a day and this made me +25eur electricity bill. that's right, cuz of that constant GPU 100% usage i had to pay 25 eur a month more for electricity! in other words, this game just isn't worth it. i've been dealing with extreme depression for over 10 years and this only causes me more stress. If NQ decides to provide me at least 12 months game time, i'm willing to check back every now and then and make some videos, but otherwise i'm done with it. it was fun and i liked building stuff and salvaging, but pay2play + extreme lag just isn't worth it. i thought they will work on optimizing the game, but ever since early access, i haven't seen a single update that addresses the extreme lag and player count keeps dropping, i think they just abandon the project when it's no longer worth upkeeping the servers. another thing i never understood, is why do they boast about the "single shard server" if it won't matter? there are many other MMO games that appear to be "one server", but actually they use multiple servers to spread the load. I KNOW WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS, but my point is that from player's point of view, there is NO difference at all. Honestly i'm not even sure if i can bother coming back even if they give me more gametime, this lag is frustrating and causes me more stress and sometimes even headache. I can play all modern games just fine that are optimized. Such as forza horizon 5, resident evil village, expeditions: a mudrunner game, cs2 (graphics update) ..etc and i run them in 4k or 1440p with AMD's upscaler. DU doesn't even have AMD upscaler, it uses the dlss which is not even available on my GPU. on top of that, if you compare DU graphics to any of the mentioned games, then DU looks like minecraft compared to those games, yet it requires like 10x more GPU power .. WHY? anyway, just wanted to post here and say that i'm done with it (probably). as PC expert and gamer, my opinion on why DU is not popular, are the 2 reasons i mentioned 1) it's pay2play and 2) extremely poor performance with high resource usage DU could be amazing if devs would fix lag and make it either 1 time payment or free2play + microtransactions. they could sell element skins, i would have actually paid for some. PlanetSide2 is free2play and uses same mechanic, it's still alive after 12 years with over 3000 daily players because of this concept. I hope DU gets new life kicked into it, but i think chance of this happening is below 1% Here's playlist with all of my DU videos:
  2. A blue marble floats in the blackness of space. The beauty of the surrounding clouds of space dust and debris swirl ever so greatly in the great backdrop of the milky way galaxy. 10,000 years ago we called this place, this solar system our home. But now... A great wall of flame and radiation passes through the beautiful marble ripping the planet to shreds and sending rock and chunks of Earth barreling through the void in the direction the solar explosion sends it. The great flame consumed Sol, our sun. Then continued to devour every planet in the solar system till it had wiped out every living thing possible. Destroyed, our home is. We set out on the journey, billions of us, to find a new planet. To find a new home where we could restart and hopefully flourish and prosper for another Trillion years. Aboard the Arkship, I slept silently. Forever dreaming of the millions of faces i left behind in the chaos of launch day. The riots, the bloodshed, the *Fear*. Everyone knew that if they couldn't somehow board any of the arkships, they would be doomed to die a gruesome death. I was lucky, I was deemed as a "eligible passenger", or so they called it. I was rushed aboard and sent to a processing deck. They took my luggage, my clothes, everything i had on me. They tattoo'd a number on my arm which read "C-2695". I guess that was their way of making sure that no stowaways boarded the arkship in a attempt to leave the planet and escape doom. I was confused and scared, they told me I would sleep for a very long time but they never told me how long....I left behind my family, friends, my love. I am alone now, as I lay into this cryo-pod, the glass door folding over my head and shutting with a hiss. I see male and female scientists scurrying about in white lab-coats as they guide all the other soon-to-be-human-icicles to their pods. "Hello", said a female voice through speakers in my pod. "I am Aphelia, the new AI system aboard the current Arkship.", the voice finished. "uhm...Hey?". I said confused. "Greetings passenger C-2695", she said in a monotone voice as she read my number. "Per request by the scientists and leading experts of this arkship I require your full name.", she kindly requested. "D-", I paused before i finished my sentence. The old me dies today, left behind on Earth. When I awake, however long that is, I will be a new person on a new world. "Jortian....Jortian Selel", I said with a smile. There was a beep and then the voice came back through again. "Thank you Jortian.". the voice said kindly. "Now you are gonna feel a little sting". warned Aphelia. I had no time to react as something sharp forced its way into my head. I could barely feel it but it was an odd sensation and it caught me off guard. "Please relax while we connect your brain to the neural pod network.", requested Aphelia. A moment later she spoke again. "Probing memories...." "Wait wha- AHHH!", I screamed as I saw my life literally flash in front of my eyes at near infinite speed. "A little warning next time? Please?", I groaned. "Apologies Jortian, now that I have access to your higher brain function. Is there anything you would request of me before we begin?", she asked. I sat there and thought for a second. Then it came to me... "Aphelia...is there anyway you could preserve my memory of my husband?", the words bounced off my trembling lips. "Of course, I am seeing...Michael.", her voice soothed. "yes...", I said with a choked up sob. "Make sure to preserve it...", I requested trying to hold back my tears. "Of course Jortian. Will that be all?", Aphelia said as the pod began to activate and whirr to life. "yes Aphelia, that will be all." "Here are some comforting words to help you slip into your cold slumber.", said Aphelia as her voice began to warp and twist into a male voice. A familiar male voice....Michaels voice. "Begin message playback.", the voice said roboticly. "Hey babe...I'm glad you got accepted.", he said with a short sniffle. "Doctors said I wouldn't help to generate a good gene pool...whatever that means." he began to choke up. "I'm sorry i lied to you, but if i told you the truth you would of never gone....you need to live...you need to survive...", he continued speaking as the air within the pod began to grow cold. "You are the future of the human race now...forget about me....forget about everyone else.", Michael chuckled. "You always told me how you wanted to goto space...now you get to...and for a good cause.". he began to cry. "Just don't forget one thing...", The window began to fade away into darkness and the voice grew fainter and fainter. "I do and always will....". A single tear rolled down my face "Love you", said the voice, echoing in my mind as I slipped into eternal slumber.
  3. Hello there fellow enthusiasts, I am CaptainKingz, or CraftingKingz. Few of you may have already seen my posts, but I'd thought I'd introduce myself and a little background. I am an aspiring entrepreneur who started off playing loads of Minecraft since 2011. That's where I got my original title of CraftingKingz, which I only use for some games nowadays. I played loads of Yogscast complete modpack with my buds and loved the factory feel and idea. When I first discovered Dual Universe (through a facebook ad) I was hooked. I ran to my wallet and backed the with an honest Iron Founder package. I do plan on buying higher tier packages too when that shop is set up. I saw the videos and read every update about ship building and construction and I loved the idea. I created my own organization in hopes of providing the whole universe with cheap and reliable transportation. I really want to give into this great game's community and be an active member of the forums, and also build up my organization before the game's release. I hope all y'all in the community can accept and welcome me into your family and help shape this game for the better. I thought I should also include: Sandbox Games Played: Rust Minecraft (Yogscast Complete) Ark Space Engineers Empyrion Terraria Starbound Don't Starve (Together) Factorio Savage Lands Starmade Reign of Kings (Regrettable) Space Games Played: Space Engineers Empyrion Starbound Starmade Star Citizen Pulsar: Lost Colony If you want I'd love it if y'all add me as friends
