  1. There has/should to be away to break down the "voxel block" Into smaller segments to accommodate wiring or even plumbing. Many times in Space Engineers it's really a turn off to have this huge massive block  as a wall or hull when all you really wanted was a half block that would have 50% less integrity. One of the neat features that came out on modded minecraft was a new mod called chisel n bits. Granted minecraft is pixels in a block this mod was able to take those pixels to create shapes that could still be placed with in the 1x1x1 cube. For me in a game like this it would be really awesome if you could see how intricate a wiring/plumbing design could become.

     

    I see an Ace hardware shop in game lol.

    What I have seen of the game (which isn't that much) it seems as you can modify how big the voxels are. So I THINK you could porentially make something SUPER detailed if you just use small enough voxels... but that might just be something I have missunderstood.

  2. I think two things

    1: The tech research should exist on EITHER a guild level or a player level, take warframe for example, where you can research for your clan and such.

    2: I hope it is more a case of WORK then a case of waiting, cause that is SUPER annoying.

    Like research goes further as you work with new metals, new plants and new designs and such.

    If it can reassure you, no, we're not making a Sci-Fi version of Ark, without Dinos ;)

    There will be safe zones for those who don't wan't to have PvP activities. We won't force PvP on players, we want to avoid that at all costs.

    We also plan to provide basic resources (necessary to make all the vital items or basic constructs) available in (really) huge amounts, so no one can have a monopole.

  4. Wait so... The ships is an NPC?

    No... more a case of the one owning the ship being so powerfull that it becomes a sort of superpower...

     

    Like a deathstart.

     

    Either the ship is destroyed OR the players submit to their new emperors.

  5. I would LOVE it if this info was/has to be displayed on a control panel. Yes a hud with stuff like highlighting position and distance would be expected but having to look at control panel or a large display would be great and give them a use. Kinda like elite dangerous:

    Worst case: probably a pop out hud like EVE

    best case:   A screen like that to display all ships/targets in area. and another for detail of one you have scanned like you mentioned above. Also all integrated into customisable control panels like mentioned here

    I hope for this... so much. That could be cool.

  6. It will be nice if we can scan ships of other players.

     

    1) When our ship is addressed on another ship we can "Targeting" .

    2) When we direct our ship to another vessel we should see information / status of the another ship.

    3) This information are displayed on a special panel in the cockpit of our ship.

    - name of the vessel,

    - vessel owner,

    - state of ship hull,

    - state of ship shields,

    4) other information we can get if we have on our ship respective modules:

    - Information about Bounty,

    - Information about cargo.

    I think that could depend on what kind of scanning equippment you have.

    Just stopping in to say hi! 

    Super excited about this game, it looks incredible. I have 1500 hours in Space Engineers and this is looking like the game I wished SE could be. Can't wait for that release!!! I'll definitely be a ship designer in universe.

An interesting idea I have about arkification is that, on the arkship there could be an NPC that would sell these tokens for massive amounts of money and there would only be one per player, they can't be sold between players, you can only arkify your TU, and if you de-arkify you lose the token and must buy another(this process would take a long time and can be canceled at any point). mainly so that pvp gameplay can be hurt as little as possible. What do you think.

  10. That made me think of the Britney Spears vibe. 

     

     

    While you could design something to look like your cockpit, the actual functional cockpits and control seats will be redesigned meshes. And currently they are planned to be designed by NQ only as a component you craft and place. 

     

    On AIs, it is said you can make one advanced enough to make an AI drone, but somehow I dont think voice responses will be ontop of their list of feature to impliment. It would be nice though. 

    Of course she gave you a britney wibe... she is based on Britney xD

     

     

     

    Hopefully we get a huge assortment of materials to choose from to build craft. I know we will get elements that help systems work, but I hope there are some superficial elements like beds that you can sleep in, chairs to sit in, elements to decorate and make the ship feel lived in. Space engineers ships are nice, but too sterile. I would like to see spaceships have air inside, gravity...I want to see the feeling of Firefly be possible. I want to dress down, some crummy space cowboy garb and fly my ship like that.

     

    I imagine initially we will see stuff to make ships work, but hopefully as time goes on elements are added that allow us to customize our ships to give them personality.

    We all like to costumize our things ine one way or the other :D play Warframe and you will have plenty of options :D

  11. Ive been screaming for sandboxes for years but I worry that now that we have seen a few players will want more than a box to build and fight in. Now lame scripty quests, but some kind of direction or story content to participate in. Something to make the in game shared universe really feel like its a universe. EVE and Star Citizen look to do that well.

    Indeed :D trust me, alot of people have been searching for the RIGHT game.

  12. Well, if they want to go realistic then the laser/energy weapons would have a limited lethal range. Lasers suffer from the divergence of the beam, so after awhile the power of the laser is spread over a larger area. The loss of power concentration makes it less dangerous after a certain point, so that could be a way the devs choose to limit the range of a laser/energy weapon.

    isn't that "lethal range" quite far tho? Since lazers have a quite thin spread?
