I'd be happy if space combat was like the old pc Tie Fighter game. It would be nice for some actual skill to be involved.

The planet example in the blogs has a radius of 30 km. But I agree, a dyson shell around even a 60 km planet would be quite a task. But hey, you only know how long it takes, if you try!
Well, once my self-replicating assembly drones are up and running it should just be a matter of making sure they don't turn the whole universe into grey goo.

Hi!
A RPG fan (like me) who wants to be the founder of the Borg? So we have to even create our own enemies in Dual Universe?
One man's enemy is another robot's friend.

I am down with planetary and other large defense systems. Personally, I'd like to build a Dyson Shell and I'd hate to see it go undefended.

Hmmm, forgot to mention, I'm an artist (oil painter mostly) in real life. So... if we ever need some old school artist stuff, I'm your guy.
And... might not be possible, but my dream right now is to build a robot race (like the Geth from ME) on the outskirts of the galaxy which will one day have all the organics bowing down.

Welcome to the forums bud!
*Edit: Hope you don't mind me referring to you as that, some people have a complex about it
I don't mind. I call half the people I know buddy or pal.

Hey! I spent half of yesterday discovering and reading about this game.
I had been looking at EVE, but wished there was a way to get in on the ground floor. This sounds like ti might be a better option for me. The only sandbox I've played is SW: Galaxies, but I loved it, especially early on. I'm a big RPG fan and have enjoyed some MMOs (SWG, Vanguard, SW:TOR, etc.) I always had this daydream about how I would set up a MMO and this sounds a lot like it, so I'm pretty excited.
Anyway, looking forward to contributing to the discussion.
Death and consequences
in Idea Box
Posted
I was wondering what people's thoughts were on death and consequences in the game. When you die, should you just respawn somewhere with no consequences? Should your ship blow up and be left to rubble?
Personally, I like the idea of permadeath, but I know many won't.
