  1. You know building a space elevator is now going to be my number one goal one the game is out jut to say I built it if shadowlord dosen't mind we could build it under the name of silverlight industries

We already have at least one planned

  2. Its a bit late but I should point out that they were giving an example for the size of a planet and the size of territory units.

They want it to take a bit of time for people to start leaving the planet and the timeframe that they gave was about a month or so. This could mean having the ability to travel to another planet in the same system or even just get into space (build a megatower up to the sky because why not :P) I doubt stargates will apear a month or two after release but then again I could be wrong. Im thinking it will take that long to just start getting to the tech that allows us to consider building stargates let alone the resources and ability to build them. we would then also have to wait for a probe to get to the other location and have the materials to build a second gate.

  3. Of course!

But only if you bring several ships with lots of materials and resources... to help with building the Jenga of course. Oh, and no armed escort either. You might scare the other attendees away.

but we need the guns to shoot of the fireworks :P

  4. I think NQ is developing hovercraft engines for ground based vehicles, so will you be building those too? :P

yup mostly because I think that those will be the only real transportation type for ground based vehicles. I think they said somewhere that they won't have wheels or tracks or rails because of the physics involved with them though I could be wrong (hope i am) as I really want both a large train system and a space elevator (train that goes to space from the ground)

  5. Unexpected disconnects, unintentional or not,  could be handled by characters "Blacking out" or otherwise passing out in their location.

Give them a debuff timer, where other players can come over and by some means, medical or not, refresh the timer for a set number of resets.

If their timer expires, they die and go to the or their bound Res Node.

Perhaps we can look for asking for hibernacles, and a drag system. Drag the unconscious players to a hibernacle, put them in, freeze them until they log back in?

Maybe but doing so in something like a safe zone seems more like a pain than anything else. Maybe have something like a bound bed and when in a safe zone that has a bed (or maybe beds for rent?) your character travels to that bed or area by itself when disconnected. Thats only for more RP than I normally like though as in a safe zone i would prefer if you just vanish or fade out as its safe so it really shouldn't matter. when you log back in it could be in the same place or a set area. I do think it should be similar to how you describe outside of a safe zone though maybe just not the timer till you die or at least not a short one (few days?)

  6. Will SilverLight be a manufacturer of small combat craft?

I may be interested in exo mechs, small combat crafts, or minimal something to stand my short.. erm.. bold self on during combat. Might you be able to machinate some contraptions?

Most likely as capital ships will be far to large for a normal person to easily afford especially in the beginning of the game. We don't expect anyone to build a capital ship for a while but colony ships will probably take place right after we manage to get FTL type travel up and running and capital type ships soon after that. Smaller ships would be an easy way for people to get around (like cars) and a fighter can dodge and cause damage to a capital ships like how a mech would be able to outfight people on the ground for the most part.

  7. I would have to say that this idea will not be allowed, as they said they are not going to allow weapons of mass destruction, etc...  but it would be sweet as hell to crack a planet with one of these.

maybe something along the lines of a surface killer type weapon (kills basically everything on the surface but leaves the surface relatively unharmed)

would also like planet mining (as in mine the whole planet) but doubt that will be a thing. at least at the beginning

  8. It'd be awesome if I could ring my planet in MAC Cannons (Think Halo) controlled by an ai targeting system. But I'm not sure if we'll be able to have them on the planets. I think you'd be able to have defences on the planet but I don't know if they'll reach orbit.

if its a halo like mac cannon it would easily be able to reach space though a weapon going that fast would also cause a really large explosion just from the air displacement so they would likely be in space. I would like to have both ground defenses like turrets and ICBMs (and a ground to space missile) and space so we don't have to build just one type of defense

  9. well might as well get in on this. Java and C/C++ have very little actual performance difference with the main difference being the garbage collection areas of both languages with C/C++ leaving it up to the developer and Java basically doing it for the developer. (some people seem to be ratting on Java for some reason so thats my rant ignore it if you want)

Now I think there should only be one scripting language in the game though what it is I really don't mind as you would have to use their API for the most part anyway. I doubt there would be two as it doubles the work needed to maintain the scripting part of the game for no real gain other than make a few people happy so its not really worth it. LUA is actually a good one to use and many people can easily learn how to use it.

  10. I suggested something like this in the devthread that outlined the virtual reality thing they have planned so you can design and build stuff in safety. I suggested just making it so you could play that offline if something like your internet goes out (yes that does happen for people) you can still play but it won't really affect other people except that you put time into making a design same as you would have if you had done it on the server.

  11. Maybe foldable/retractable turrets could also be a possibility, so in their inactive mode they would have a low profile fit near or maybe even partially in the hull and in active mode high profile for a maximal field of fire.

Maybe even ones that rotate so you can't see the gun when its away and flips into position when needed

  12. What would happen if someone wanted to build a moat around their home or city, would it have to be lined with something to stop it from slowly filling in?

We don't know how water will work (and neither does NQ or at least they didn't when they last talked about it) however they did mention a minecraft type system for liquids and a more realistic one though the more realistic one may take to much server computational power to implement in this kind of MMO

  13. the "common" concept of cryosleep in science fiction is an extreme decrease in body functions, not a compete freezing. That means we can expect that over a time of several thousand of years the body will age for at least a few months, thus causing the muscles to atrophy.

Depends on the type of cryosleep as there are a few examples where you are truly frozen and as such do not age at all however like you said most of the time it does mean an extreme reduction in bodily functions meaning you only age a little (honestly its probably a bit more than a few months but meh doesn't really matter)
