  1. As a developer, I can say with reasonable certainty that they will probably not do realistic water in their game (at least not from the start, at any rate). Large bodies of water moving across a server with thousands of people would be a nightmare to develop and have function properly. Not to mention multiple planets, voxel collision, tunnels, etc. Based on the comments it seems they are possibly planning a more "minecraft" style of flowing water which I think is reasonable.

     

    However I could be wrong, after all DU is an ambitious project and maybe they will attempt full fluid dynamics at some point. Although I would wager its not high on their priorities.

  2. Its worth noting I said, "Get it off the ground". Assuredly a station of that scale would not only take a massive amount of time, but a perpetual income. I expect a smaller but efficient station that upgrades into a larger one is the best option. Actually one that can be built in stages would be the best in the long run I expect.

  3. Sounds like a great idea. Though a few questions come to mind - NQ basically said large stations will be difficult projects to accomplish. That being said I expect a station as large as the one you mentioned will probably require a large (50+) person organization to get it off the ground. You could probably self-fund the build by charging a marginal fee (say, 1-10%) as a tax for using the facilities which would fund the operation.

     

    Just some thoughts, come release of the game I might be interested in lending some assistance to a project of this scope.

  4. I agree, knowing at least a few weeks before hand so that we can schedule better for it would be amazing. Though having been in other games Alpha testing I expect it will be something like this...

     

    1. Weekend load testing (24-48 hours).
    2. Mid-Week mini-tests (testing a specific feature/etc).

     

    Generally they are developing during the week and release the changes for Friday-Sunday for feedback/data to accumulate.

  5. I'd be a fan of a somewhat realistic 3D map interface that you could connect to the complex (which would also scan the nearby surrounding areas). It would be balanced since building the interface would require rights to build it (e.g. can't use it to creep on other bases). Plus I don't think that seeing players would be that bad (perhaps a lifeform detector addition?). Gives base defense a little more meaning, especially for underground complexes.

    My name is Shadows and I am looking for members to join up with my crew! Getting straight to the point, we are a mercenary group (or possibly pirate group, depending on your perspective) looking to make our way through Dual Universe. We are not looking to be a particularly large organization, but want to be able to stand on our own. As far as morals go, we only care about a few things.

      • We offer a wide range of protection services, from protecting cargo to transportation of precious materials.
      • Please note large scale protection may not be feasible due to the limited size of our organization. If you are looking for global protection on a massive scale, we will have to discuss your circumstances separately.
    • Mercenary/Warfare
      • Our services are available for contract work involving battles or general warfare.
      • Special assignments, extraction, or sensitive combat operations are our specialty.
    • Piracy/Illicit Activities
      • Based on the nature of your request, we will be happy to consider any proposals.
      • Based on the request, we will also engage in corporate warfare/sabotage.
    • Retainer Services
      • You can purchase a retainer contract with us, which will provide two benefits.
        1. Future services are given at a discounted rate. Rates will be negotiated based on your standing and previous cooperation.
        2. Based on the retainer level purchased, our organization will never take jobs in direct or indirect competition against your organization.
      • All retainers are subject to a "total silence" policy by us. We will never disclose our customers or our reasoning for not taking a contract.

     

     

    Policies

    1. Money Talks - Every job has a price, as long as you are willing to pay we are willing to do the job.
    2. Loyalty - We take a hard-line stance against anyone in our organization who betrays our trust. We may engage in corporate warfare from time to time, but anyone who is a member of our group will not get away with betrayal.
    3. Friendly - We are a tight-knit group of gamers (some of who have been gaming together for 15+ years). We are always happy to bring on more people and expand our community. Please also be aware that we highly prefer people over the age of 18 (as our conversations sometimes border on mature) and we also prefer people who have microphones (as we like to socialize on discord frequently).

     

     

    Recruitment

    As of right now, we are looking for fill a few roles in our group.

    1. Pilot(s) - We need people who are interested in mostly piloting our ships, hauling materials or just all out attacking our enemies.
    2. Resource Procurement - We are looking for miners/prospectors who will help us be self-funded.
    3. Strategic Resource - Scouting & Information Gathering. Possibly electronic warfare and support for larger combat depending on situation.
    4. Engineers - From building ships to LUA scripting, our engineers do all the back-end for our organization.
    5. Other - If you feel you might fit a role with us that is not mentioned, feel free to post or message me directly anyways! We are happy to consider any position we may not have thought of.

  7. Hello Growller,

     

    Although I will just be starting to ramp up recruitment in the near future, I thought I would extend an invitation to you since you seem like a great fit. I have founded the mercenary group Silver Hawks, and will be looking to start recruitment shortly. We aim to be a small but effective mercenary group that may sometimes skirt the rules to make good money.

     

    Here are the quick notes: 

    1. I am on EST timezone (CST is only two hours earlier then me I believe). All other members are also either EST or CST.
    2. We have people living in both U.S.A and Canada.
    3. We are a very close group - We use discord and generally play multiple games together.
    4. Mature group, most members are over 18+ years old.
    5. We are looking to have small organized teams to hold various game-play aspects (E.g. a few people specialized in mining/production, a few combat oriented, etc). Our group wants to be self sufficient and for that we will need at least one dedicated builder.
