  1. Alternative - A hex can only be set as a safe zone if all the surrounding hexes are claimed by the same / allied organisation. Maybe also have some sort of maintenance cost to keep hexes as safe zones?
  2. One thing to understand - neighbouring voxels share grid points. When you change the shape of a voxel, you are actually moving the grid points, so it effects ALL voxels that share that grid point. It would be impossible to deform one voxel without effecting its neighbours.

    Logistics

    What about some form of logistics system (pipes, conveyor belts,...) that can be used to connect our containers and machines? Could include things like routers, splitters, filters, buffers, extractors,... Maybe could even a port system that could transfer between separate constructs (cores).
  5. What if the ore nodes regenerate over time based on tier + time since last mined + random factor? Tier 1 ores regenerate quicker than Tier 2, Tier 5 ores regenerate the slowest. Heavily mined areas regenerate slower than areas that are left alone. Some nodes can have a higher than average regeneration rate, making them more desirable than another node of the same ore. Soil on UNCLAIMED hexes could also have similar regeneration rules.
