  1. Well I'd like to address each of the things you pointed out in your post but I will simply say that it would be quicker and more accurate for you to read about it yourself through the devblogs, there is almost a devblog about each of the issues/points that you have raised, so i would suggest looking through them and then if you have any more questions i'll be more than glad to try and assist you with them, as will others on the forums :)..

But yeah, the Devblogs are the place to find information about DU if you can't find it on the forums :)

    Link: https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2016/06/10/dual-universe-at-e3-pc-gaming-show/

This is the latest DevBlog, i would suggest just going through them either from the start as it contains some lore that might be odd to read backwards :)

    nora,

  2. Welcome to the forums, it's always nice to see people joining from all over the world. Nice of you to post both the original and the translation, being a person with only 1 language (which i hate, wish i knew more) i can only thank you for the 2 halves because looking at the first 50% of your post, it just looks like elvish text from LOTR or something to me :)

But yeah, welcome to DU i hope you enjoy your stay, you will fit in nicely with all the rest of us poor excited souls :)

    nora,

  3. Welcome to the adventure! I'm sure your ideologies are shared by many here. Feel free to peruse these forums at your leisure, and check out all of the available organizations at the moment! I personally would recommend taking a look at a particular organization called Cinderfall, whose respective thread I've linked in the signature below :)

    Enjoy your stay!

I'm loving your self promotion here mind Astro. No rest for the wicked sly poaching the new players is there ? ... hmmm... :)

  4. Hi I watched this at E3 and I can't wait to build the biggest ship possible  :D

Welcome to DU and congratulations you are now one of us :)

I want to add to what other people are saying, given that you don't have a 'max ship size' you also will need to build it, and it's been speculated that even just getting the required skills and materials to build your first ship could take a month, if you pull off building the biggest ship i will give you all the kudos you require :)

But good luck with it, i will look forward to seeing what you can manage to make with the potentially unlimited size of ships and the universe.

    nora,

  5. I'm not sure what you suggest. The building will be freeform voxel based building, so you can build whatever shape you want with a limitation of 25cm square blocks.

The elements, that are the predesigned parts the devs create, such as thrusters, cockpit, engine ect we don't know their sizes 100% yet but they will be attachable to any voxel based construct that you can think of.

We don't know enough about the elements to know what we can do with them, we know that we won't be able to create them but we don't know if we can manipulate them in different ways yet so your idea of procedural (at least how i view it in the videos) could quite well happen in the future, we just don't know.

Good idea though if it is possible, but i do wonder about the balance issue if you can resize and reshape all the elements, you may end up with someone whos entire construct is just one massive cannon or a players construct that is made up of the smallest possible variations of the elements giving him a small surface area in PvP combat.

However, I do know that the place you put the elements onto the construct will make a difference when you fly it, eg. if you put all your thrusters on the front of the construct you will only be able to pitch your ship upwards as there will be no thrust powering it foward/backward ect.

Given that you can create any shape you want out of voxel, i think there may already be enough freedom to create any shape of ship that you would desire without the procedural idea you have suggested, but it is a good idea nontheless if it can be incorporated :)

Also, nice link here for building from the DevBlogs: https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2016/02/20/builder-gameplay-voxel-tools-elements/

    nora,

  6. I have a hotas, but i choose not to use it as i find it gets in the way if the game is not 100% in cockpit flight. I got sick of having to move it back and forth when i wanted to fly/ walk.

I would always prefer the Keyboard and mouse simply for ease of use and no need for any extra controllers, but I wouldn't be against the idea of implementing Hotas as it would give more ways to pilot ships, i just hope they don't neglect a part of the game to include it or make the keyboard and mouse worse because of it, as keyboard and mouse i would think is what the majority will use.

    nora,

  7. Terraforming would be very good for players who start "today", but remember that other players can join the game in a few years. And what would they see?

Lots and lots of planets Earth around the galaxy,

Well the beauty of that is that if they don't like a planet or want to terraform their own planet, they simply need to just keep flying :)..

But i don't think it's fair to restrict the players who play from the start simply because you are worried about how new people years after launch will take the game. I think the immediate starting people will make up the player base for the duration of the game and people joining later on will either think there is better alternatives or not want to join half way through a MMO.

It's like joining WoW now, people who have played from the start are still playing, but by god if someone wants to start from new now, good luck to them continuing to play after a month or two, there are just better alternatives.

I do hope that DU can survive longer than the WoW 10 years+ thought, it looks like the game to do it also, since you can do anything you like :)

    nora,

  8. You disappoint me Nora, I expected links.

I really am trying to find the e3 discussion video so I can watch it again, I couldn't focus much at work to what was said.

But awesome, that's the first confirmation of fluid water I've heard.

I hope it's truly fluid and not like empyrion. It's somewhat fluid but won't really flow and expand. I dug a trench to flood a nearby mine I finished just to test. It expanded a but but then stopped there. Like there was an invisible area of land confining it.

Don't know how well this will turn out because it's the first Tweet i've link, but - https://twitter.com/dualuniverse/status/742469491083317248

The actual liquid quote was in twitch i think as i can't seem to find it. :(

  9. There has been a post on this before, but I don't know where to look and find a Lin (I bet Nora has it).

In short it is something us in the forums would love, but we don't know to what extent it will exist in the game. Fluid dynamics can be quite resource intensive. Just look at how much stress it puts in MC when flowing.

Id love to be able to build hydro power systems. And use water for various mechanics. From the lore, water exist but we aren't sure how.

Confirmed to have Liquid water (and different types of water) by Nyz on both twitch during E3 and on Twitter. However water physics are still early in development and they are unsure of how far into it they can do.

    But water will be liquid.

As for the economy, there will be a 'Market Element' that you can setup 'wherever' you like that can act as a normal market place you would find on any other game, but it's supposed to be networked so you can have several different types or market or markets in different locations.

For example you could have a central market on Alioth for all the major trading and then smaller markets on the outskirts with all different prices giving you the option to play the market, Buy cheap at the outskirts and sell for more in the centre.

There are countless gamemechanics that we super users on the forums are not even aware of, we just know the basics i think in what DU will become or is planned to be. So any small mechanics that you want to stay on a planet and do, i imagine that you will have your time full trying to do them all :)

    nora,

  10. The monthly subscription for playing a game does not look fun in my opinion. Games are meant to be fun and not to grind the whole time you play so you get enough in-game currency to not pay again for a month. Just a 1 time payment will be completely good for everyone even if its 60$. If it will be the "month subscription" option then this game is off my wishlist instantly.

It just not fun to pay every month. It really hard for me to explain how its like but its just not fun

Well as i understand it DU will be in development for the foreseeable future with always cool updates. Once the initial influx of people is over and it's 3 years after the launch date, how would they keep the budgets balanced without a subscription? It's a MMO at the end of the day and the longest running most successful MMO to date has a month subscription and i see DU being better and more enjoyable than that :)

But I hope you don't totally sack of DU, the more the merrier, so i hope you do give it a try, there is supposed to be a free trial or weekend or something for new people (don't know if it's confirmed or not) so maybe you can have a go there and see what you think ?

    nora,

  11. Really pumped for this game, definitely pumped for advanced building.

I'm really looking forward to the out-of-ship game-play personally. (It all looks really good, but I can't wait to explore and develop stuff)

Anyone else have a particular interest?

Look forward to shaping the universe with you all!

Welcome, I'd have to say personally i'm looking for the building freely wherever i like and being able to fly wherever i like in the universe. Not many games have both universe scale maps and building like DU is going to have. SE was the closest but just felt like it stopped developing and didn't really grasp the universe.

    nora,

  12. The image in the original post was only a header for posting purposes. You may see the actual insignia in the below signature. You may say it still remains a bit busy, but the overall effect is a lovely modern and geometric twist on traditional emblematic styles.

I'm liking the new Signature, much slimmer and better looking i think :)

  13. ah okay that made allot clear, still how does one becomes a Alpha team member ?

or is that already closed or maybe never been open to the public.

I don't know if there is any other information about the Alpha Team Members but i would suggest having a quick read through the first post in this thread, it explains a couple of things you might be interested in :)

    Link: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/336-members-selected-for-the-alpha-team/

  14. Was more of an example first of all, but what the main idea is that, it is not fun being grieffed for being a RPer at times.

I don't want to have to deal with a group that their main ideal is to come in and always attack the RP group, I really don't mind random events taking place while RPing...

I am purely worried on the aspect of being hunted for RPing, as most RP will not be always in our ships dog fighting... Like in many other RP-PvP MMORPG, there are groups that purely there to hunt and RPers and think it is fun to call us names and just kill us on a continues note while all we are doing is non-attacking RP... I will fight back when attacked, but when bombarded and never having a peace time in limited time to play and enjoy my aspect of gameplay it isn't fun anymore.

The RP community always sorts its own rule sets out in that aspect, but we can't control Trolls who soul idea of enjoyment is to ruin ours.

Understandable, but if there is enough of the RP'ers playing the game you could ban together and make a RP planet where you all are based.

If you set the rules there and someone comes in to attack then they are breaking your laws and every RP'er could rally to help or defend.

I understand your concerns about the 'RP Hunters' but everyone will have that person/group that is just out to get them given that they do something they don't agree with. It is still early to say what will happen in the game, but if there is ever a problem like that i'm sure there are people you could 'employ' to get revenge or assist you in defending yourself.

Other than defending/employing defense, I'm not sure how you would counter the 'RP Hunters' as you couldn't ask for special privileges as their RP might be hunting you. Like 'DD' says, who's RP wins?

How would you like for the 'RP Hunters' to be dealt with or how would you like the system to work to protect you? Given that you cannot restrict other peoples actions by implementing it.

Ideas for protection or changes to how the game is played are constantly being taken on board by the Devs so if you think of any way to help RP in the game, it might be listened to. :)

    nora,

  15. This sounds like an interesting idea, and doesn't exactly need to be locked to RP, unless i'm misinterpreting it.

What your saying is to have a player managed newspaper or information device that people can populate with their own information, with the potential of linking it to the market units and other elements in the game?

This could be interesting actually, it could be like setting up a new "/group" channel but more RP based, where you would need to setup a base with a antenna that broadcasts your News/Information to anyone who wants it.

Like a visual radio, you tune in your 'News Device' and what is displayed is down to the user who manages it. You could add a ingame subscription to the 'News Device' too so if you have enough information and are popular enough you could make it your ingame job to update the people playing the game.

I don't know if i've fully understood what you said, but is it something like that ?

If it is, there is nothing been mentioned about something like that yet, or not exactly like it (there are radio devices been requested) but i like this 'News/Information Device' idea better :)

    nora,

  16. this I cannot ignore, its a dream come true.

I'm a fan and supporter of several space sim games and cutting edge hardware.

I hope there will be some sort of Alpha/Beta test phase we can join.

Ha, your name, I think the 'Spaghetti Monster' would fit nicely into the DU universe given that DU universe is supposedly infinite, you could be hiding anywhere.

As for the Alpha/Beta. There is already a selected Alpha Team that was part of the original people over a year ago to find the game that have a confirmed place in the Alpha when it's out, but other than that it's been speculated that once the kickstarter is live you will be able to get into the alpha through that in early 2017. Can't remember if that's been confirmed or not to be through the kickstarter, but it's certainly early 2017 for Alpha/Beta.

    nora,

  17. Welcome, both, to the forums. Noticed your first posts :).. I enjoyed your little story there, made me think of the DevBlogs Lore, I don't know if you read it but it could fit quite well with it.

If you haven't see the DevBlogs Lore i suggest you read through it here: https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2015/07/31/dual-universe-part-1/#more-481

I found it to be a good read and kind of hope for more or it in the future :)

    nora,

  18. I have not been keeping up with no mans sky. So, you are saying they do not have an online multiplayer option? Ya, that is a huge turn off and would take me from "possible playing" to "not gonna waste my time".

Well I don't know if it's 'Zero Multiplayer' but i know that you can't do anything like grouping or spawning on friends and such, i think it's just 'Here have a random spawn, good luck'..

I don't think i've seen anything about what happens if you manage to be on the same planet as someone else at the same time. But my understanding is that there is no way so far to 'organize a way to do this'. It's basically just a single player game with the potential to 'meet' other players.

But like yourself, I stopped following it, after the multiplayer stuff came out, so this might all be old news now but doesn't change my thoughts on it either way now as DU will wipe the floor with it. :)

    nora,

  19. Welcome, I am not sure how much of the Dev blogs you have read to get an understanding of the overall game.

While RPing is expected, and can take many forms, but I dont think you will get this. I'm sure for flat out harrassment there will be some sort of system in place, but I hope the take Eves viewpoint an are passive about most thing. I am sick of these games that cater to the 12 year old and must create a 'safe space' for evey time they get but hurt from something.

If I cant attack someone just because they are RPing a scenario, then I would just always be RPing a scenario where no one kills me. Or maybe I was roleplaying a scenario where I attacked your escort, whos RP takes precedence then? The game will be a single persistent universe, meaning everyone is present in one world. While you can create what ever scenario you wish and RP it as you choose, you cannot expect others to follow along with it. Unless you have the military might to stop them, others can and will kill you or blow up your ships.

Now there will be the pvp free zone around the Ark, here you will at least be free from someone killing you and blowing up your stuff.

    This ^

But i'd like to add to the RP side of things here.

If you want to RP a escort mission and don't want to get attacked by pirates or other players then you will have to 'RP a Protection Service'. You will have to sort out the aspect of getting someone or a group of people to follow your escort to and from it's destination and protect it in case of other players.

In my mind the whole game is one big RP game.

The players need to decide the rules, the players need to make the cities, the players need to design the ships, the players almost make up/ design everything but the planets and Arkships.

If you really really don't want people to attack you when you are RP'ing a escort mission, or any RP event for that matter, then you can create you own game laws to account for this. The only thing is you will need to back up your law with punishments ect like real world laws creating a whole level of politics to your RP now.

However like 'DD' said, if you want a totally 'free to RP as you like' situation without worrying about other players i'm afraid you might be out of luck. The only restricted PvP area that we know about is the starting Arkship that you spawn on (and potentially Alien Ruins, but that's not confirmed) and i hope it stays that way.

I'm all for RP, but RP that is created through the systems in place using the emergent gameplay idea of Laws and Politics ect. any dedicated system would be immersion breaking for me.

    nora,

  20. No mans sky looks fun, but I wonder how fast just exploring will wear out. The style of the game is kind of monotonous to me.

This is almost the exact feeling I have towards the likes of Dayz ect. I just don't see the point in wandering around gathering when theres nothing to build/do with the things you have other than basic survivaly things.

No Mans Sky shot itself in the foot straight away with the way it's handled the multiplayer side of things.. Or the way it hasn't handled it. No Multiplayer just turned me from excited to bored in an instant.

    nora,

  21. The PLEX model actually has an effect of reducing gold farmers that tend to ruin the game more, and pulls the money from the Devs to someone elses pockets.

I agree it has some downsides, but its better than the alternatives of them going to gold farmers. I dont mind them using this model, it works well for eve, and if someone wants to waste their time just to make money to waste their time, let them.

Remember that one player may not be paying a few dollars every month for the game, but somewhere someone is paying his dollars.

This ^.. I remember when WoW introduced the WoW-Token (What i imagine is a Plex Equivalent, not sure what Plex is) But it just gave the entire population a nice easy way to make loads of money, if they had the pockets for it. But it did reduce the amount of gold spammers and farmers as they couldn't always beat the price of what the Token was from the WoW-Store.

It has it's advantages and disadvantages, I would prefer to see it's advantages gained without the side effect of basically a Ingame Cash for Money scheme behind it. Not sure if it's possible. Or even if that's what plex is, but that's the jist of what i understand from this thread.

I would prefer to have the Plex idea  to get rid of the awful gold spammers and allow everyone to have footing when it concerns currency, if you can't buy it it's unfortunate but the 'legal' option is always there for you when you can.

    nora,

  22. Could be a fun thing in game. A great place for pirates and smugglers to co-habitat seeing as how just about everything would need to be ported in.

I like the way you are thinking about things here. I'm not sure how rouge planets work, but i'm sure it could be difficult to find again unless you know where it is :)
