  1. Yes, that's what devs are missing. Spacefood!

minerals + worms + fruits -> food processor machine = spacefood

Even though I'm an engineer, that formula is too advanced for my simple mind :D

Let's discuss this problem further. If you eat spacefood you need space toilet. Don't worry, here is wikipedia link:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_toilet

Creating space toilets won't be easy, but I think I got the formula:
metal + trees + space -> digested spacefood processor machine = space toilet

  2. Yeah from what I have read/heard about the game that would have to be a ship. I know what you meant, but I don't think there is any autopilot in game that would make sure the pod falls down straight.

Would be cool though and still much time until release so may be possible.

I also think it would have to be a ship, because you need gravity to make something drop on the surface of the planet and as far as we know, gravity effects will not be implemented in the game.

  3. Unfortunately, as you can read here

    https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/841-ask-us-anything-event/?p=7728

we still don't know how water will be implemented.

But I am quite sure that there will be islands, so you (your organization) could choose one with the right size and build something there. It might even look like a floating city which is definitely something I would like to see in the game  ;)

  4. It's fascinating to me that NovaQuark is spending all of this time and money to develop the technology to allow for thousands of players to exist and play within the same area, yet people seem more concerned with playing by themselves and not interacting with other people.

It's a massively multiplayer online game, I just hope that they don't drop the "Massively Multiplayer" part because some people like subscribing to a game every month to play by themselves.

Well, I do not see even one disadvantage of playing 100% solo. These players will not influence thousands of others, who play in groups, while still paying every month to support development of the game.

  5. Probably there will not be anything like ecosystem of the planet, so it would be difficult to harm it ;) At best, players will be able to influence temperature.

But hey, I am sure that there will be planets in DU looking like industrial wastelands. We only need something worth fighting for (like resources) and a few thousands of players creating and destroying, creating and destroying...

  6. I was searching for information about the gravity in the Dual Universe and I found this:

Also will your voxels have gravity effects on planets and such, If I break a line of voxels at one end, will the voxel at the other unsupported end, drop and fall to the surface, possible rolling downhill??

The answer is: unfortunately, no. And it won't change any time soon. If you dig under some voxels, they will stay at their place.
This is something possible to handle and simulate in small areas... but not yet possible to handle in a single-shard universe, where the planets are not instanced but really in the same sandbox. The necessary computer power is just too much if you do that with, let's say... a mountain? Maybe someday when the technology will have evolved enough?

You can also hear about it in the interview with Jean-Christophe Baillie:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFM4sTFMU1U&t=62m59s

It seems that every player will be able to dig under the mountain to the point where it becomes some kind of floating island. Does it mean there will not be any kind of gravity implemented in the game?

Therefore, I have one more question. First, lets see important part of the gameplay video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6mI-A0OuF8&t=5m25s

What would happen if Jean-Christophe Baillie landed on the other side of the spaceship? Since there is no gravity in space, no "up and down", how players will be able to move on different kinds of spaceships?

To make it simple, imagine that someone will build a symmetrical cube somewhere in space. On which side a player can land and freely walk?

  7. Welcome Skimus, glad to have you here with us.

If you haven't already, be sure to check out this thread - https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/1122-dual-universe-faqsources/

If you have, then well done. You've put in more effort than majority of the newcomers. :D

If you have any questions, always feel free to PM myself or anyone here on the forum. We're aren't all that bad. :P

    Thanks,

    Cybrex

Already seen everything in this thread at least twice :D

Hope you are from the Proland part of Poland and not the Troll-land part of Poland :P

Welcome aboard the Hype Train :D

I do not consider myself pro, but I am definitely not a troll :P

  8. In the past few days I was looking through all available information about Dual Universe. Now I hope I am ready to discuss about the game and present my point of view in a number of topics.

However this post should be just an introduction so… who am I?

My name is Paul, but you can call me Skimus ;) I am Control Engineering and Robotics student from Poland. I also work as a programmer, but unfortunately I only develop software for microcontrollers and do not create virtual universes :D

As many of you, I am kind of fascinated with the idea of “boundless MMO”. On the other hand, I know how difficult is creating a game, when you have more ideas then resources. I suspect that compromise is already a big part of unpleasant reality for developers. That is why I think that most of my ideas, which I am going to share with the community, will be as much down to earth as possible.

But well… you never know where your imagination will take you right? ;)
