Frankly, for a network heavy game like DU, you should really use a wired connection as the game will need/want to download more data then your wireless connection can handle if your laptop is the only device on WiFi, let alone when other devices like phones are on it too and you need to share the available bandwith.

Not sure if I'm understanding you here.

If I have a connection to my router, and my router connects to the internet at 30Mbps, then as long as my connection to the router is potentially 30Mbps or higher all is well with the world, wired or not.

If I am sharing this with other users - whether they are wired or not, we still only have 30Mbps to share between us

So, sure, wireless interference may reduce this a little, but other users' network usage.

30Mbps is what I get on my computer from the interwebs wired or wireless - because that's what my internet connection speed is (actually it does vary up to 40 on a good day with teh wind behind it, and going downhill)

Having a wired connection capable of gigabit speed isn't going to make the internet traffic come any faster through my 30Mbps connection! (I wish!)

My set up fwiw is a lovingly hand build PC

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8400 CPU @ 2.80GHz   2.81 GHz

    16Gb Ram (don't recall specs)

Win 10 Pro 64 bit (Insiders edition)

GPU is a GeForce GTX 1070 Ti with 16Gb

Running on a 2560 x =1440 monitor (although I have been running it in a 1080 window to see if that helped - it didn't)

DU is installed in a 250Gb SSD on SATA with 116Gb free (I suspect it is caching to my NVME boot drive but uncertain)

All in all I think the PC should handle it - I guess my Internet speed could be an issue - but there's little I can do about that!

Regardless of what you did on your side, it is likely to me that they have some sort of protocol/backend issue. Like many others, I don't have any such issue for any other games or apps.

Would you mind updating us in a few days/week to let us know if you still have reliable access?

I tried back and forth - through the USB to the WiFi router it works, through the extender to the same router (via wifi from teh extender) it doesn't.
I do everything through the extender with no issues, so this is the only thing I have an issue with, so it is obviously an issue with either their back end or their front end - but what that could be I don't have a clue!

Hopefully the many many logs I've sent them might help them find out!

that's just what the game looks like.  That entire planet is editable, and part of a huge solar system shared with thousands of players, where you can travel to any location without a loading screen.  Some sacrifices had to be made.  And i promise, you wouldn't want to meet those trees when they did have collision.  Many ships were lost ?

I understand - but honestly would prefer to have less trees and avoid them than having the poor graphics for no reason (cuz if you can't hit them, and they look rubbish, why show them?!

200kph is pretty slow.  With some modifications the speeder can go a lot faster.

But 200kph isn't slow - if I"m driving at that speed, trees whiz by - in the game it doesn't feel realistic.

Build stuff.  Literally anything you can imagine.

Yeh - I think that's what I've been missing -  now I can finally grab some land, I'll give it a go!

Each of the Alioth Starting Districts has it's own shuttle that will take you to a different Marketplace on the sanctuary moon.   The districts are all located inside the starting area, the big circle of purple hexes that's centered around the Arcship.  Each one should be marked on the map with an Icon.

Ohh! I didn't realise - so if I find any district inside the starting area I should be able to find a shuttle? Thanks!

If you enter Build Mode on your speeder, and right click the seat, you can change the control scheme to Direct Mouse Control, or a Virtual Joystick style mouse control.  I don't think HOTAS is supported yet, but it is possible with custom LUA

Oh! Wow - I can't wait to try this! -Thanks!

  4. I'm not trying to troll, seriously, I want to love this game - it's taken me two plus months to be able to play it & I was really looking forward to it.

But I'm finding it to be really awful , and figure I must be missing something.

Forgetting the obvious bugs (I didn't receive my Territory Control Unit during tutorials, for example, so had to wait for support to actually give me one!)

So here's what I'm finding to be bad - and I really want positive feedback - I want to get back into the game and start playing!

    1. Graphics. When I'm speeding along in my speeder, the trees just appear and disappear like a 1980's sprite-based video game - it looks terrible. I'm not on the highest spec PC but more than sufficient for most purposes - and I have tried playing at very low resolution to see if it makes a difference. It does not.

    2. Physics. When I'm speeding in my speeder, I fly straight through trees - there's no physics attached! I mean, this is probably fortunate as they appear instantaneously a couple of meters in front of me while I'm doing 200+ kph!

    3. Feel - When I'm speeding on my speeder, the speedo is showing 200 kph, but it doesn't feel like I'm even going fast - the trees (when they're not teleporting into and out of existence) move past at a quite leisurely pace. Now it could be that if I drove at that speed through a forest of phantom trees, that's what it would look like - but it doesn't feel right

    4. Gameplay. So I was a good boy and did all of the tutorials, so I know how to do stuff, at least in principal, but I really didn't understand why I might want to do stuff.

I guess I want to go to the moon and claim some territory, but why? I don't really see what's next (although I think there might be more tutorial when I get back to teh moon and place my TCU...)

    5. Speaking of which - I followed the tutorial, took the shuttle to the moon, found a spot and then discovered I had no TCU - so found my way back to shuttle, and went back to try to find out what I needed to do to get one. I finally gave in, contacted support, and they fixed it (it was a bug) - but now I can't for the life of me find the shuttle back to the moon - I've scoured the map, and travelled to different places, but can't find it - and can't find it on my map either.

6 Controls. I find it very strange switching from speeder to walking where the latter allows the mouse to orient and the former doesn't. Is it possible to fly by mouse (or, even better, HOTAS)

So chaps - help a disillusioned player learn to love this game!

  5. So, DU finally responded to me (more than 2 months) and a helpful chap went through a few things none of which made any difference.

My computer is connected to the interwebs via a wifi extender wired into the PC (i.e. PC => Ethernet Cable => Wifi Extender => wifi => router -> t'interwebs.

I unplugged from the extender, and plugged in a USB Wireless adapter.

    And it worked!

I have literally no idea why that would make any difference, but there you have it - after more than two months I can finally play.

    Unfortunately, I hate it!

  6. Bought a three month subscription Aug 28th.

Could not get into the game (login timeout) at all.

Contacted support Aug 30th and sent required debug files Aug 31st. as requested.

Heard nothing. Repeatedly contacted support and once, via discord, got into the game for about a minute before it crashed and went back to the timeout issue.

Finally asked for them to cancel my payments and give me a refund as I wasn't getting any response from support (Sept 17)
"Please cancel my payments immediately and refund me the full amount paid"

Sept 30 received an email "Thanks for getting back to us. Sorry to hear you're having trouble playing the game and would like to have a refund. No worries, we'll get this sorted for you."

Today (Oct 28) I received an email

"I went ahead and cancelled your subscription."

note they cancelled the subscription and not the payments.

"Regrettably, scenarios such as this are currently not eligible for a refund."

with a link to the T&C with all the 14 day stuff in it.

I let them know within 2 days it wasn't working - but it has taken them 2 months to respond - but tough, outside the 14 days, buddy!

    And in that same email

"If you are interested, I would take a closer look at the issue and would like to request the following data about your device/setup:"

asking for the same files I sent on 31st August that nothing happened about.

I have tried all of the solutions offered in various other posts from folk having similar problems - and as mentioned, one of their support people managed to get me in the game for a minute by doing something (unfortunately when it crashed on my again and went back to the old behaviour, the Discord chap just told me to raise a support ticket.)

So I have asked them to re-instate my subscription until it expires (otherwise how could I possibly tell if they ever fix the problem) but not to allow it to renew.

I have sent the files requested (including resending the old files) in the hope that someone will actually look at them this time.

Incidentally (just in case they're reading) @ng-wokk was the original email support person I sent the files to (and who never responded) and @ng-rocketman  is the most recent correspondent.

I offer no advice - just the facts.

I will post again should I hear anything...

    Don't hold your breath

    Hi,

I wanted to try this game. Bought 3 month of subscription, downloaded game etc. After starting the game I chose colors of my suit, watched intro with big doors opening. Then loading screen started. Durning loading I was disconnected (my internet connection was fine but I went back to login screen). Since then I'm unable to login in game with error "Login timeout". I'm able to enter queue but when it is my time to connect, error is displayed. Just like server itself is blocking me. I tried VPN but that didn't helped. I contacted support with logs. They claimed that logs where forwarded to dev team and I need to wait for answer. But it's been 4 days already and I kinda lost hope for any contact back with support.

My money is wasted every day passes and I'm unable to spent even second in game. Anyone have ideas how to solve this? Maybe simply ask fro reimbursement?

I had exactly the same issue, tried everything. Actually managed to get in once for about 2 minutes after some support from Discord (the chap I spoke to did some magic that actually let me get in, but then it dropped out and back to square one - he told me to raise a ticket...)

Raised a support ticket & they asked me to send the various debug files which I did.

    Heard nothing.

22 days later contacted them again.

    Heard  nothing for a while
Asked for a refund Sept 17
Got a response Sept 30 asking
"What email address did you use to make the transaction?
    - The Xsolla number of said transaction or PayPal Invoice ID"
Responded same day, and they replied the same day with "Your request is now escalated to a specialist, and they will give you an update as soon possible.
    "
    Since then, nothing!

I assume that, one day, they will refund my money.

but I'm not holding my breath!

(Out of interest I tried again today - had to download several Gb of the latest update, and, guess what? No change!)

Agree 100%.  And its like, you know the Devs are trying.  They literally HAVE to make the game and servers work, or they dont get money.  This isn't Scam Citizen, people will just unsub. So its one week into beta, give them a break, and take the free month.  I'm not saying absolve them of everything, but lets give NQ a chance.  They are only asking for $7 a month, and with that $7 are trying to put EVERYONE in the same universe on as a level playing field as they can.  I do understand the frustration, but if it is really bad and you are a new sub to beta, id say just chill for the next month, try to get your skills in queue, and then apply for your free month.

I think my problem is more that I don't know that the Devs are trying - I don't know because there's zero communication from the company.
And I suspect the Devs are salaried so they get their money regardless (until the company has to lay them off, if things get that bad, which hopefully they won't)

What free month? I've seen nothing about a free month?

I agree it's only $7 a month - and that's why I signed up, with a mindset of "well, even if I hate it I've wasted just $7 a month for three months" - unfortunately as I still can't even log into the game, even $7 does seem a high price to pay for, well, nothing at all!

I'm not sure what you mean by "Get your skills in queue" but the only skill I'm so far developing in the Beta is that of re-downloading, collecting log files and raising issues which I don't hear back about.

I like this quote, from entrepreneur.com
    "

    Depleted Credibility

Keeping your promises is imperative if you want to retain trust and grow your business. In fact, it should be one of your highest priorities. While some businesses that experience high client turnover are complacent with offering substandard work, most companies cannot afford to operate that way. It can take years to build up your credibility, and only one or two unhappy customers to make everything come tumbling down. If you cannot do something within a specific time frame or by a particular date, then be upfront about it. If they need to go elsewhere because you cannot meet their timeline, then so be it.

. So how about you stop sitting on your high horse and give them time or go make your own damn game and see how hard it is. I so tired of people bashing nq because they cant fix a problem when you want them to.

Are they working on the issues? How do you know? I've seen no communication from them acknowledging there issues, or that they're trying to fix them.

Say you bought an innovative washing machine,  and it didn't work,  stopped working all the time, threw your washing on the floor. So you contact their support and hear nothing, You find other owners have similar problems - and have heard nothing.

So you complain and ask for some action.

The response from you would be "get off your high horse! Try making your own washing machine - see how hard it is! Why should the washing machine company fix a problem when you want them to?"

I've been playing MMOs for the last 20 years and I consider the current problems as minor and to be expected.

    All of the problems?

Like those of us who literally can't log into the game and so can't play at all - that's a minor problem?

I'd hate to see what you think is a major problem!

You can open a support ticket https://support.dualthegame.com/

    Its not garantied.

But know that this disconnect issue was introduced with the beta key patch.

It is something they will probably fix in 1 or 2 days.

I would love that to be the case, but have little confidence.

I raised a support ticket and got the following reply

"We're aware of the login timeout error, pending operations, login issues, etc. The team is tirelessly working on optimizing the game so players like you would have a better and smoother experience. This might be frustrating at the moment but we are committed to fixing the situation as soon as possible."

I would rather they take their time and fix it properly than rush and risk it being worse - but in the meantime I can't see the point of me keeping my subscription as I just don't have the inclination to keep clicking the 'play beta' button and waiting for a timeout.

If a refund is possible, I may as well leave, then resubscribe when I see from the forums that it is playable again?

  12. Hi,

I was excited by DU finally reaching Beta, but I've been trying to actually play for more than 6 hours now - and still getting Login Timeout.

So, enough is enough. I'll wait until its stable enough to actually play, thanks.

Can someone point me where I can cancel my subscription ?

    thanks

Everyone is playing and I'm getting the Login Timeout error. Any clue?

    Pre-story:

Installed the game, started loading, loading stuck on 100% flickering to 99% for a second and then back to 100. Waited for several minutes. Tried to close the client. Client got frozen. Closed the process. Restarted PC, getting timeout error now.

UPDATE: Re-installed the game, did not help.

Similar boat - got logged on once then just froze on a black screen (no cpu no network) so killed - not clicking 'play beta' shows "connection queued: 1..." flashing for a few secs until I get "login timeout"
