A good day to you, Xplosiv.

It is nice to see that our ally has already entered in and is making good progress. Cheers to you, FHG_Steve.

That said, the Aether would love to showcase its mostly hidden designs in the IHR.

Will it be a league with seasons, or will it be an annual event?

Either way, we look forward to hearing from you. #

    Have a wonderful day.

still a lot of details to hash out, with leagues and seasons. thats why i am still looking for people who want to suggest rules and regulations. like ive said once i have a couple more members we will start creating a ballot for the regulations. as i have said many times i want this to be a group effort, i cant come up with all the ideas  :D

  2. Greetings Triquetra & Haunty from the DU addicted fans!!!

Like Haunty said there should be a discord, I have not yet personally checked it out.  Many individual organizations have their own discords also, check them out!

I'm with the Solar Empire and we just started a channel today!

  3. If this has been covered please ignore.

Does anyone know if you are going to be able to come to a complete stop in Space/Atmospheres?  Like in space engineers when you turn on your inertia dampeners.

Drove me nuts in No Mans Sky where you always had to be moving forward or backwards.

**Edit/update** I should have explained a little farther, What i am wanting is when you hit a certain key, it keeps your ship from moving/drifting in any direction. In SE if you move in a direction with no gravity present, you will continue to move that direction forever until some force acts upon you. Just like would happen in real space. *****

I don't think it'll be like in NMS, because it would most likely make it a bit complicated to land on player made constructs, like on landing pads or even in hangars.

But being able to come close to the surface doesn't necessarily mean that your ship will take damage if it crashes...

LOL yeah trying to land on those pads in nms was a dam nightmare, you miss then you have to use you boosters

AGAIN to take off and try again! DAM that game!

I guess I want ships to take damage from hitting things, because it makes flying a little more exciting. Instead of going 1000mph into a wall and nothing happens.

  5. Well, it depends. They can pay a lump sum and use our base design (without engine improvements and control scripts) or they can pay an initial fee and an amount per race and become race partners with us building their craft, using the same stuff as our own craft, maintained by us and having upgrades applied by us. This happens a lot in Formula 1, where some teams have these race partnerships, and others buy the core design and provide their own improvements.

The IHRC needs you steve

Are you going to be in alpha? this is where a lot of testing will take place.

  6. For the "crash" questions:

There already is a topic with a good amount of info, suggestions and opinions on this matter:

    https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/10055-collision-damage-workaround-suggestions

I would like to invite you to join the discussion :)

Physically correct crash damage like in SE won't be a thing in DU, but NQ said that they remain open for workaround suggestions.

Besides the technical limitations, balancing would be a not-to-underestimate task, and there are a lot of different opinions about the possible gameplay effects of this matter (battle tactics, griefing etc.).

So it's not only about the question if it could be implemented, it's also about if it should.

(if you ask me, I'm definitely on the pro collision damage side ;) )

Well i started this thread before that one was created... I just hope its not like no mans sky where, your ship cant fly under 50m above the ground, then a auto-landing sequence is initiated.

  7. --Going out of bounds will result in immediate disqualification.

I would suggest changing this to when you go out of bounds you must re-enter the track from the point you went out of bounds, which automatically penalizes you for going out because it costs you time to get turned around and back on track. This is a very common rule in most types of auto racing, I've never been in a class or event that would immediately DQ you for a single mishap.  even at the pro level off tracks happen and usually result in just at time penalty or warning.

Ok ok, I understand what you are saying. It just has to be done via the honor system, as the is no system to force you to do this. I do plan on having referees watching to make sure no one is doing anything nefarious.

    Thank you for the input.

Boo or the S.O.R. ready to send a rep over :D? You sound interested. All we ask of your rep is a vote.

  8. Interested in this for reasons of running a salvage operation on the large scale.

Interesting!  I have been wondering if you will be able to "break down" other peoples constructs back into usable materials.

  9.  of course, because Open world games such as DU and the like give people the chance to wreak havoc on unsuspecting players. It is very annoying and that is partially why I don't want the Solar Empire to ever turn into a griefing type of org...like some others.....

Oh there will be zero tolerance for that kind of behavior with us

  10. Well there was a thread on transporting items, there was a question on how to transport other people's ships, as it would be difficult for a transport company to move a customers ship on an off his freighter. Also I was reading an other thread where a guy wants to build a train service. So when I saw this it caught my attention. With the ability to tow or link two constructs together could open up both of these possiblitys, probably many more. Would have to be some kind of permissions system tho because of "Dude where's my ship!"

Yes, I agree permissions would be needed. I've just been wondering, because you can in space engineers. All you have to do is lock on to another ship with your landing gear, and away you go.  Well I guess in SE your ship needs to have enough power to lift the weight of the ship being towed. Kinda funny how I figured it out, I overloaded a ship and couldn't even get it off the ground. So I grabbed a larger ship and picked it right up. Don't think by the sounds of it, that physics won't play such a large roll in DU.

  11. He said a little bit honorable, one could argue being a thief is more honorable than being a murderer, being a rapist is even less honorable, Ruling over a genocide is even less honorable still

also honor is not defined as a specific set list of behaviors and ideals, what is honorable to some may be reprehensible to others

I hear ya, just with all that's going on in the real world, don't know why people wouldn't want to take the high road.

  12. I'm sorry if I offended you! I wasn't talking about your group. And there is a difference between a thief and a griefer!

lol don't worry about it  :D  what do you think of us(the solar empire) though, we like to hear feedback, bad or good. Its the only way someone can improve. We are also going through a major overhaul our or description page right now, its really outdated and needs a lot of work. We plan on having a insignia for each of our divisions and a description for each, just need to finish making the new insignias.

.....But honestly how can you call yourself honorable when you steal from others?

  13.  but a couple of the groups I have looked at have been either super strict or rally wacky and not serious. Are there any groups for privateering/piracy that are actually a little bit honorable?

Greetings Eminio! It would be nice if the kickstarter could continue to take in $ and still give out rewards for a while.

Gonna get some heat for this one... ^_^

Hey are you calling us Wacky :o LOL? I don't think we appear too strict.  Honor in piracy please, there is no honor in stealing from other people, only greed.
