Undercutting my sales order is also pvp. How dare you list your warcells cheaper than mine!?

Actually I cannot say that I have ever considered a normal function of society as PvP. If you look at the basic economic reality, drinking a glass of water is PvP as you are preventing another from drinking that same water.

This is why PvP is normally classed as actions that would be illegal. Making non-PvP areas lawful areas by definition as EvE online used to class Hi-Sec until they altered it to keep the Null Sec pirates happy.

So either a Sanctuary moon is a place of lawful encounters or it is not. If its not then it is a PvP area and there are no sanctuary moons or non-pvp areas.

WoW? Nope, it can happen. Albion? Nope, it can happen. Lineage? Sure it can happen. Here is said truth - if you ever thought it couldn't happen in MMO game - you were either deceived or ignorant. I don't know any game where guild leader allowed access to guild bunk and yet theft could not happen. Even all PvE games I know haven't dealt with it. Please enlighten me which game dealt with it and have any form of guild bank or storage.

This is not pvp. This is stealing. There is no fighting involved. You are safe if you are not stupid or too trusting. If we are going to unleash consequences for this, i'm waiting for the moment we start banning "unfair" trades.

The ONLY reason any game i listed would start dealing with it if this would involve exploits. But that is different story.

So its not PvP. So its not Player vs Player?

    Really.

Hot take. NQ explicitly allows org theft. There is nothing to discuss. It's not an exploit because it's INTENDED MECHANICS.

    Good Day Sir.

So what you are saying is that they lied about non-PvP areas then.

Must admit if they are just making EvE Online Part 2, it really makes the game complete crap and not worth playing. As EvE online Numbers show no one wants to play that crap any more and before you say something stupid read CCP Games financials.

I can't think of a single game where someone clearing out the guild bank was considered a breach of game rules.

DU has explicitly blessed org theft. Deal. With. It.

As I said If it is PvP then it needs to happen in PvP areas. If its not PvP then it is an exploit that should be banned.
PvP occurring in sanctuary areas is forbidden under statements made by NQ. Deal with it.

And that is the problem. The communication. That is a very ambiguous statement. If it is just the sanctuary moon and the area around the ark, then its more like "Don't want PvP? Don't worry you will be bored to death in no time." The Game should advertise itself as a PvP game and cut the BS.

    @HangerHangar

So NQ announced that from the PVP player's perspective, at worst sanctuary moon(s) and Alioth will be off limits with he rest of the system open for PVP. And you are complaining why?

That the current setup will stay in place until Territory control/warfare is in makes perfect sense.

What is it about players like yourself that you must have everything for yourself and everything your way to be able to play a game at this scale?

Why are you unable to accept that there will me _many_ who do not seek PVP and want to do their own thing within the universe?

Where did you get the idea that DU is a combat centric game in which everything revolves around combat?

Very informative answer. In a way I am glad I discovered this before I buried thousands of hours into this game. I mean it is nice to be able to crate something nice on Sanctuary but to have effectively no other safe area (at worse) means it is not worth the gamble to play.

    Have Fun.

  7. SPACE WARFARE

From pirate raids to skirmishes to coordinated attacks: space is a dangerous place. With real-time destruction, battleship crews and player-designed ships, this is PvP like no other. Don’t want PvP? Stick to Safe zones and you’ll be fine.

Can we get a definitive answer from NQ as to where that safe zone will be. Is it just the sanctuary moon? Is it the blue blob that surrounds Aolith and its moons.

    Just a simple definitive statement.

  8. 4 minutes ago, JohnnyTazer said:

No, to me, and this is just my opinion, but safe zone should be relative to full game universe. If NQ plans on adding a second system within 1 year of launch, keeping the safe zone how it is now is fine by me. That's 3 planets and many moons. Alioth and sanc make up 400k territorys almost.  And in another 50k each for thades and madis, and a few more for their moons.  That's over HALF A MILLION hexes that are in a 100% NO PVP ZONE. I'm totally ok with that, If the rest of the game world is full pvp zone (with obv good and balanced mechanics for territory warfare).

And there is the problem in a simple statement "keeping the safe zone how it is now is fine by me." the only thing we know is safe is the sanctuary moon, while these boards are flowing with the same idiots who wrecked EvE. With bugger all from NQ.

Thats why its just not worth the time.

  9. 2 minutes ago, JohnnyTazer said:

What its going to be? I actually don't care what its going to be as long as I can shoot anyone I want anytime. I just want the freedom to choose, and that's what NQ pitched. (Outside safe zones ofc) The rest is all just balancing to make sure no one meta trumps all, and both the hunter and prey have legit chances at success. Then of course when 2 sides are fighting mutually,  there are enough variables to make the outcome exciting and not completely predictable.  How they go about it I dont really care.

You say" Outside the safe zones" but what exactly are they supposed to be?

    Just the santuary moons?

    what?

He might be a lost cause. He doesn't care about DU or the mechanics the devs have laid out. He only cares that he is right.  Everything that is currently going on now in game was explained throughout the years as their vision of the game they are developing, and I might add, as you have pointed out, things are even safer then what the devs pitched to us because they want to fully develop pvp before unleashing it. He doesn't understand 100% of the game lies in the safe zone atm.

And that is actually the problem. Not what PvP is now but what it is going to be, the lack of communication leads one to believe the end product will be EvE 2 especially with the same whines occurring that created EvE 1. With no hard statements about the future, you have to say why bother. I had that in EvE, CCP said one thing for many years (more than NQ are) and then due to greed and some of its developers went down Null road and the game went to crap.

EVE is a game which is very playable solo and very playable if you have no interest in PVP. I'd be interested to hear which former EVE devs are employed by NQ outside of the one we know of and who in fact left CCP many, many years ago. I also do not think it matters as DU is not EVE and while it clearly shows it is "inspired" by some EVE mechanics, it is an entirely different beast.

I do not know where someone find the comments from JC where he says he wants piracy to flourish. All he has even said to my knowledge (in podcasts and Twitch Q&A) is that it is the intent for NQ to drive players to consider alternatives besides combat to resolve issues and disputes and that they feel combat should come at a (considerable) cost. He also very explicitly stated that NQ will design (planet/ground) combat so that it favors defense over offense.

People who spend all their time at this stage complaining about PVP really need to stop and maybe even stop playing while NQ balances and evolves the different mechanics. The same goes for those on the PVP side who just cut of any argument with "just add weapons". Both of you are jumping the proverbial gun and talk out of turn to be honest. PV in it's current first iteration will change and those not looking to fight will get their options to not do so or at least reduce the chance of having to do so I am sure.

NQ wants DU to be a world for all walks of life, not more for one than the other and to accomplish that they will need to compromise each side of the story to accommodate the other to exists, there is no ifs or buts about that and if that is not what you want then DU is probably not for you.

As someone who has not spent much time following the game, the risk that it will become EvE 2 is too great. Personally I will be happier just not wasting my time and money. I have no problem with PvP so long as it serves a purpose, in EvE the purpose is to destroy the game play of those who do not want to be in a pvp corp. So frankly as this seems to be where this game is going I will save my time and find another game to play.

After all why bother spending years again, to see the basics of the game destroyed to keep a small number of people happy.

Anyway I have enjoyed conversing with you on these forums at time, so have fun and Enjoy EvE 2.

I've expanded on my thought. Just giving you what you need. Really. If you aren't interested in an Eve-like environment, in all honesty and with no ill will at all, this was never the game for you. Simple as that.

I never thought it was supposed to be the bucket of shit EvE is does not even come close to saying that any where.

But oh well shit happens. It was a good game with potential but if it is Just EvE 2. Not really any point is there.

    So have fun.

So you didnt like a game, bought a game which is pretty much exactly similar and are now complaining that they are similar.  Brilliant...............

I would ask for your stuff, but not sure it is worth it.

Actually I love this game but did not know it was going to just be a mark 2 of one of the biggest piles of shit in history.

But each to their own, you enjoy the theft, piracy, account looting and finally the game owners doing exactly what they are told in fear of losing money. Fuck that shit.

  14. 14 minutes ago, Noddles said:

Might just want to step out now then. JC has been very open about his desire to see pirates flourish. NQ contains several former EVE devs. The game is full of hundreds of current and former EVE players.

I think its also worth pointing out that the majority of the top 10 orgs exist for pvp. BOOs driving goal is to fight and to take people's stuff. The AC wants to do the same thing. At the end of the day you should be hoping for systems that give pvp more depth. Even if it doesn't encourage more people to pvp, maybe itll make people feel slightly less cheated when they get ganked.

Thanks for saving me the time. Another EvE is just a massive waste of time.

Would have been nice if it said something like "If you thought EvE was a huge pile of crap, you wont like this because we are using the turds from the same bucket."

  15. Having seen they very same arguments, using the very same terms "Rick vs Reward" "Sandbox" "balance" years ago in EvE and seeing how that turned into a pile of crap, Not even sure if its worth wasting the time playing.

Thankfully I have until the end of Beta to figure it out because at the moment the PvP crowd just seem to Want EvE 2.

tl;d if you want to do your peaceful industry on Sanctuary, and just make pretty ships, you have to pay to protect your incoming shipments.  The alternative is to develop a contract with an org that is willing to supply you with stuff from PVP areas.

If you are a solo player or small group, consider signing on with a larger org for protection.  Just about every big org needs miners and industrialists, and they will happily let you do that while they go off and fight bad guys for you.  Being in a big org in DU is not like other games.

You make a great argument to no bother playing at all.
