DRM - Protect coders work as well as builders work

Currently the game allows ship builders to DRM their ships (including any code on their ships like controllers, lua boards, etc). This is great, however, for those that purely code and do not build ships, there is no way for us to give/put our code on someone else's ship and DRM the code. So we either have to work for free (i.e. open source) or work with a trusted builder (which limits our code to only ships sold by that builder). Why can't I as a coder offer my HUD to anyone who wants it no matter what ship they fly and DRM the code on the controller once I put it on their ship? I.e. lua DRM should be tied to the person who adds the code to the element, not the person who owns the construct.
