xpsion
Hi there, I have followed some twitch video's on this game that are from 3 months ago, and it seemed awesome. But reading about this latest patch and the impossibility to do things on your own, how you want is not the absolute freedom they write on their home page. What i don't understand is that you are not able to test this game as a kind of alpha account so at least your efforts are not losts. - I don't have days's +/ hours to game, but want to see some progress with mining and manufacturing and or trading. So , it it still attractive to start a solo base and later on join with others or is this a kind of Socialistic state world.
Megaddd
If you were to join an organization and just be a "fly on the wall" to lend a hand to someone who is doing routine things, you'd get a taste for it rather quick. I do emphasise the 'join an organization' part. As this is a 'civilization MMO', which means it takes a Civilization working together to make it work. Most of the toxicity is stemming from players coming in expecting a good single-player solo experience. Insert pikatchu-face meme when they find out it is an impossible grind to do that effectively in a game about players needing to cooperate to achieve bigger goals. I think for $20 for a quarter, you can't go wrong with giving it a whirl. Edit: As for the current patch. It was definitely over-tuned, in regards to 'schematic' pricing, which lead to everyone's self-sustaining factories grinding to a halt. More-so than intended, probably. There is a hotfix coming to pull that back to be more manageable hopefully, later today, allegedly.
xpsion
Ah, good ! The game vision looks quite interesting to me. Mining, crafting and setting up a small factory and build your own space ship is an attractive start-up activity. In Eve, I mined and when shot down by a pirate who makes the money from it, he passed me 20 Mio Isk after the kill ... This game, with a real on-planet based mine/build activity included is more interesting then just the space part of EVE. This push to market goal I can understand, It would be not good if all keep a solo game approach, then there is no civilization. Trading and making money on market is a quite interesting activity, but what I saw on the market trading tool, there is some improvement to be done, to make it real trading based on analyzing where to buy and where to sell and make timed offers etc. Megaddd

If you have moderate interest in the game, from the building aspect alone, whether it be ships or ground facilities, there's a lot there for you. If you focus is to me gaining lots of cash as quickly as possible, the current meta is to mine, mine, mine and mine...according to some very vocal and often incoherent players. PVP is currently dull and nearly lifeless, but that is primarily due to it not receiving the development attention before now, as 2021 is supposed to bring in a lot of changes/additions to that area of the game. At this time, the market is a bit unstable, due to the industry change patch (0.23) and the previous and subsequent player actions as far as hoarding, etc. I play this game solo, although I am in an org. It suits me, apart from those times that I want to play alongside others. So, while I suggest to not buy into the hype, I also suggest to ignore the naysayers and loudmouths, but rather just go with whether or not the game provides entertainment for you at a price you are willing to pay. If so, welcome aboard. If not, maybe another game will suit you better. For myself, I am having a good time.
