Hi Folks,

I bought a 3 month sub to DU on 22nd of September and have been loving the game. Its awesome and the community I've dealt with and chatted too has also been outstanding. But I do have a problem, I suffer from the Login Timeout issue.  The first time I logged in, my connection worked fine, I created an avatar and the game crashed and ever since I can't connect with my regular ISP. I have tried literally everything and have spent several days talking to support. Now I can login, I use my mobile/cell phone as a wireless hotspot and I can connect to the game.  But that's not suitable long term.

So why do I need a beta key?

I have been wiresharking both my ethernet connection and my hotspot and I think I have figured out the issue that causes  login timeout.  After the initial negotiation there is a packet train that comes in between 700 and 970ish packets long. Each packet contains about 1.5k of data. With my wireless hotspot, it comes through in record time. However with my landline/ethernet connection i only every get up to around packet 300ish before it times out, hence the login timeout error.  My general internet is fast, so we can discount that now. Speed test during peak time. https://www.speedtest.net/result/10216394639

of fpeark its twice as fast.

Wireshark on the ethernet connection also shows countless out of order packets. So it seems the return path is taking more than one route back.   My wireless hotspot uses a slightly different return path (as its a different carrier) and I have zero issues. Apart from the massive chunk of data it consumes each day. Which is going to run out well before the end of the month.

Again so why do I need a beta key?

I need to create a new account and wireshark the initial connection to show NQ that a reduced number of packets in the initial train will allow me through.  My thought is that a fresh account is in limbo there is no data around, no voxels or anything like that. So the initial burst of data will be very short. Which makes it impossible for it to timeout.  It also got me thinking I've seen a lot of posts in discord from people that logout at a market and then can't reconnect. They get login timeout. There is a lot of data floating around at a market with many  ships and voxels hanging around. So I figure that there is a largeish packet train coming through and all of it never makes it to the station, as you only get 30 seconds to receive the train.  I've asked support for a key, a temporary account or a modified version of du.exe, or a field in settings to allow me to change the timeout duration. Anything to help prove my case and to get the issue sorted out.  But its like they only read what they want to read in a support email. Details seem to get missed especially if it revolves around something for 'free'

So ultimately I I can't easily run that test  without a beta key, or unless I signup for another 3 months on a new account, but I am not in the mood to spend another $40AUD on beta. I am not fishing for a second account, otherwise I'd sub the old fashioned way. But I need data to help prove my case to NQ. If I am wrong, then so be it. If I am right, we have a fighting change to get rid of Login Timeout for good!

If someone can provide a key I am happy to bounce you my email thread to support along with any findings both future and current.

just interrupt the cellular and prove that you time out on it when not all packets received, but can load if connection is OK. Check if game resources amount influence that by moving char from busy and empty areas. No new accounts needed.

I do not really see how this is NQ's problem to solve, it sounds like you need to have a word with your ISP and I do not really see how a beta key (and  new account) will change anything here..

Also, buying gametime from Markeedragon will be .. just USD20 wherever you come from..
