We're always looking for new members, but right now it's still very small, only about 9 guys. We haven't started to recruit publicly yet!

We wanted to get a sick insignia and all that first before we went public.

And if you're willing to give it a shot we'd appreciate it, as I mentioned, graphics isn't a skill for any of us so we need the help lol!

k no probs, im just looking for a gang to kind of get started up when the game launches.

Comments have been hidden to prevent this into turning into a flamewar and going off topic.

To answer your original question @boots_1588, the cost is unknown, (wether NQ releases information regarding server cost, is up to them) and no, NQ has not said it's "one" server, quite the contrary. The games "one shard" or one universe runs on a cluster server, which is composed of multiple servers and multiple systems, as Haunty mentioned above.

Single Shard does not mean single computer.

As a reminder to all, while yes, the question(s) may have been asked a million times, this does not mean that one should be rude or bait someone into a flamewar over what's already been answered. A simple post that answers the question or links to the answer, goes a long way. :)

    Best Regards,

Usually a subscription is used to pay for servers and development. MMORPGs tend to last a lot longer than your average Fallout game, hence why Fallout 76 shouldn't have subscriptions. In a game like Halo (also multiplayer) the server and development costs after release are paid by those who purchase DLC and, these days, micro-transactions. The Dual Universe developers don't want the downsides that DLC or micro-transactions have, and they want the game to last, hence a monthly subscription.

I understand why people wouldn't want to pay a recurring fee to play a game, however it means that they can try the game for a lot less ($15 instead of $60) before they commit more money to it. Also, there is an item in game that will give you a month of free time, so once you can get a steady stream of it you don't have to worry about paying the subscription as much.

In addition, these threads will close since you are replying to it way after it has been deemed dead. I recommend you compile everything you want to reply to and make a new thread that contains the links to these threads. Also, most of these threads will not have all the recent information regarding the game, so statements made in them are more likely to be inaccurate.

    Ya that makes sense.

"In addition, these threads will close since you are replying to it way after it has been deemed dead." Ok but why is it that this isn't already closed it didn't say anywhere this thread is dead and if I start a new one the myrlin dude will come and close it and say there are way too many threads about it already.

TLDR: Nobody has an excuse to not be able to pay $10-20 a month for DU.

Thing is some people want to make a one time payment, I personally don't care weather it is subscription or not, but literally like 5 of my friends were like  "I'm not getting that" some people want to pay once and be able to play whenever as long as they want without having to worry about cutting coffee or something out of thier life.

  5. Well judging by how user based the game is we will probably have some ability to modify weapons (elements) most likely as well as hand held weapons. If I was a pre-alpha tester I could probably give u a better answer.

  6. Ya, I been thinking about that too I think the two main things are server and company upkeep. I suggested getting the game to some of my friends and as soon as they hear the monthly subscription thing they are just like "fuck that" lol. If DU will have at least one million people playing that should be about 10 million per month and 120 million per year... so im like... k den...

  7. So like im wondering is the ground of planets going to like naturally regenerate? Like if u dig a hole in the real world it kinda repairs itself in a way, like it eventually gets filled naturally or grass just covers it. Are the worlds gonna look like some next Swiss cheese hollowed out and with holes everywhere???

@boots_1588 We are both Canadian. $30/month is not expensive to a Canadian with a job. Gaming is a hobby and a hobby has an associated costs. You spend money on things like gym-membership and you couldn't pay a single cent to an MMO? I do not understand some people, seriously.

Buy-to-Play alone and without a Cash Shop does not work on an MMORPG, let alone Buy-to-Play with only Cosmetic Cash Shop. $50 for base-game and you expect them to maintain the server for years with frequent additional content and fix updates?

I support the Pay-to-Play system of this game. If there are monthly-costs, so be it, we want a good game with no pay-to-win, pay-to-progress, pay-to-convenience, whatever the hell they call them.

My problem with free-to-play games are the free-to-play-players contributing nothing to the game. The players who are paying, they are the only ones who are paying and keeping the server up (and they are paying way more than a pay-to-play game).

Face the reality that there is no such thing as free (not even free-to-play-games are free)! What you are proposing here as a buy-to-play is to buy a car at a one-time fixed-price and then complain that there is a gas and maintenance costs associated with it.

Don't worry about it its not that serious

I mean if someone on the internet says writes it and seems pretty serious about it, it must be true.

    May contain sarcasm or similar.

Let's be serious: 30 dollars would be unusual for the average sub model and likely rather scare people off. And as it was so far proven to not be true (denied by staff), I guess the old saying goes "Don't believe everything people tell others / you."

Yup, but that really wasn't the main point

There are (or will be) city projects in the work that will naturally attract many people.

I frankly do not see fake or AI growth happen. Players will have to populate or expand settlements and cities.

But eventually reaching that point makes success even bigger, makes it all feel more natural.

If you, on the other hand, lack people to populate or grow a settlement, it is what it is. Persist or adapt accordingly.

I do think that big cities will feel natural or populated later on, if they attract people and serve as vital commercial hub or political center. Might not even need NPC.

ya ok, but i doubt there will be many cities

    Hi boots_1588,

A bounty system is indeed planed (it was actually one of the crowdfunding goals).

As of now, details are not known.

Ahhhhh perfect that's a very good addition to the game

  12. I think this is a good idea, it would solve problems such as raiding and killing. Say a player raids someones base and that player who was raided can place a bounty on the person who raided/killed them, the catch would be you can only place a bounty on those who raided/killed you so any given player can't just go around and place bounties on people.

by the time there was enough money flowing to afford this kind of programming time, there would be enough players that this would be counter productive.

Ok well if the game has at least one million players at all times we wouldn't have to worry.
