  1. Goverment employeed means you are a employee of the faction and as such you get a salary and you have in some cases access to the resources of the faction, but your work will belong to the faction. As Freelancer your work belongs to you and the only way for you to get money is to sell this work. In both cases you will pay taxes

aaand I assume that I sometimes will get orders to do something?

Like "We need to improve our armor to protect against this band of pirates that are harassing our ships" so I need to focus my intention on the armor?

  2. Hmm, maybe you want to be the official manufacturer of exploration ships for the Terran Union? and maybe you want to try yourself on fighters? it would definitely be cool to have a contractor at gamestart  :D

I really need to learn C# huh? :P I am already studying game graphics (litterally, real life studying how to do in game graphics) but I haven't studied that much of programming.

  3. The only thing i can do momentarly is, to make an excel-table with names of people which want to join and remain in touch with these, because by now there are simply no mechanics for factions. But no worrys i will make an excel-table, let me just finish the description first, so that you are perfectly aware in what you get involved.

To give you guys a taste of what i mean, if i ordering a soldier i want to hear "yes, sir, yes, its a pleasure for me to jump of this building" and nothing else. Such things must be in the description before someone blindly volunteered. And don't worry this was an example thats only apply to the military branch ^^

but for now you could say me as what you want to join, as simple Citizen or something else?

Edit1: and please excuse that its taking so long but its a tedious job and the translation on the fly while i creating the description isn't it making better

Edit2: and than the ideas that come to me while i write "oh that could i make too" and "that would be really cool to include" take for example the gameplay section this wasn't planned, i included it while i was working on the description.

How about a scientist or a engineer? :D

  4. My thoughts exactly. And will a single player be able to safely store that amount of resources to ever get a chance to build one himself?

Mhmm :P It will be tricky, that I have to say.

  5. Interesting... the ship developed conciousness and fled

More in the case of the ship groing so big that it is incredibly dangerous and must either be taken down or submitted to

  6. You would be surprised for what little buffs people buy and use food in MMOs B)

I know, I know :P I play plenty of MMOs

I just mean that the larger the buffs are, the more likely people are to try and use them, making it more likely to be a market for creating food :D

  7. We are always open to Q&A.

It would be a good moment to start a new thread to compile all the most pressing questions with all the new members who arrived in the last week. Prepare your list, and we will discuss soon about it. However, keep in mind we can't promise to give you a precise answer for all questions as, as always, we are just in pre-alpha and many things are far from being finalized ;)

    Best regards,

    Nyzaltar.

    IF YOU SAY SO :D

How likely is it that you will include the classic Sci-fi trope of biological ships and buildings? :D (like for example: The Leviathan from Starcraft 2, The Wraith ships from Stargate atlantis or The hive fleets from Warhammer 40k)

  8. Whats really interesting to me is that things like missiles will probably be player constructs. Its basically just explosive block, fuel block, engine block at the simplest, but i think there could be a lot of room for player tinkering and innovation, especially with targeting systems and the like.

And if you have missiles, you have to have point defense, which would probably be something like a small, rapid fire gun, maybe even a flak type gun, with a "shoot fast moving things and try to predict their approach vector" script plugged in. The possibilities are incredible!

On a slightly related topic, do we know what kind of defensive systems are in the game, like armor and shields?

    That could be interesting.

I do imagine they will use shields aswell, since that is almost as good as a common thing in all sci-fi. Like shield batteries that might burn out if placed under too much preassure :3 could be really interesting.

  9. I also found out about this game during E3... (honestly hadn't heard about it before that) and I already think it looks very promising (trying not to hype myself too much)

and I just want to be a  mad Engineer, that makes a huge ship that shoots arc lazers and is named Mjolnir :D

  10. Don't try to talk yourself out of it, you just wanted to troll, assault the forum and spam the video. Warning about a possible scam? nonsense. Your attitude was bad and you made it pretty clear that you aren't a person that is able to handle logical arguments because your only "counterargument" was repeating the one thing that was already refuted.

That has nothing to do with critizism, the people in the forum gave you reasonable arguments why you were wrong while you just kept saying we would be blind fanboys etc. Its pretty clear what kind of smallminded person you are. Here just some examples that expose the hypocrisy in your post:

thats no critizism, no warning, thats flat out defaming the devs

Without anyone saying something bad about your person you started to insult someone who said you might jsut doing it to increase the views of the youtube video.

    more diffamation

    right...

You can be happy that you weren't banned, because its pretty obvious that you're someone who was looking for trouble and chickened out in the end. And yes, i'm making the effort to list all this, because you obviously like to lie and mislead people and i don't want that new members read the lies in your last post and take them as the truth.

It would be appropriate to close this topic, everything important was said ;)

    This.

  11. I think it depends on the ship. A small fighter type ship, which is very mobile and such will probably use the mouse a bit like a FPS... you go where the mouse is aiming while you use the keyboard for diffrent things, like thrusters, shields, boosters, "breaks" (meaning that you basicly attempt to go backwards) ect...

but on bigger capital ships, I imagine you would use your mouse too, but more like a tactical way, you click where you want to go and the ship travels there, since honestly, trying to DIRECTLY controll a massive ship like that, can be rather annoying.

I honestly almost imagine that the commander not really has that much controll over where the ship goes, but he is the one giving orders and such, and the other players have to make sure it goes there, if we think capitalships.

  12. Multiplayer ships could be really interesting indeed, but indeed the main problem is that alot of players would like the commander seat. (I probably won't :D I prefer a more supporting role)

I think this could be fixed by simply having larger ships like that needing people in every corner to fully work. Like an engineer is just as important as the commander, since without the engineer the ship has a great risk of malfunctioning due to the strain it is put in... Or maybe the engineer is really good when it comes to controlling turrets or the like? I dunno :D

  13. I think a natural reaction to this would be for explorers to carry small relay satellites with them. Basically a trash can with a solar panel and transmitter/receiver glued to it.

I like the idea, but i think the capabilities of a relay station should be based on how many supporting blocks are connected to it. Want a shitty, 10km relay signal? Thats just a transmitter+reciever+powersource. Want to communicate with someone the next star system over? Your going to need a biiiig dish for that. The benefit of this is that communicators don't fall into discrete classes, but their capabilities can be scaled based upon the need of the creator. The downside is that its a bit more complex, but i think its something people could wrap their heads around pretty easily.

Also, depending on the type of technology used for communication, ground based communicators should have a penalty talking to far-flung regions. Punching any kind of signal through the atmosphere is usually more inefficient than originating that signal in orbit. It also occurs to me that this could really impact pvp on a large scale, since targeting enemy communications could actually be a really effective way of disrupting their organization and capability to muster a response in time.

The idea of having diffrent types of communication tech would be pretty amazing, IMO. I can honestly like imagine a group of 5 miners, mining away at some ore on a moon, while listening to a news broadcast over their smaller relay they have set up near by, that could honestly be super impressive :D

but honestly I don't think that it would work that well in PvP... atleast between guilds / clans for a simple reason. It is very likely that if you are in a clan / guild you use a system like Team speak or Skype to talk to your team mates, so honestly I doupt there could be any massive thing with that :P

Tho it would be cool if a single player was shouting for help on coms as he is attacked by pirates.

  14. As I said earlier, it is a very complicated matter to discuss :P It could both be a Boon and a curse...

But if they make the food just a buffing thing, I think the buff needs to be quite strong. I mean, if it isn't strong then cooking / growing crops and such will basicly fall to the side as "useless" or "not worth the time".

Could be things like that someone that as skills in (let say) agriculture and biology (don't know the skills yet) can create amazing foods that can make you mine ore like 40% faster or something, which would make that incredible for people wishing to build things.

  15. I do like the idea of biological ships. You could find new ingredients on different planets to upgrade your options, growing your ship components. Or you could find very special fertilizer to make stuff grow faster/stronger.

I wonder if they COULD make biological ships and such... and then make them capable of grow so big as to be a galactical menace :D so then people have to band together to take it down or accept their new emperor :D

  16. Understandable. But not everyone is into crafting. Creating a big ship will use up not only loads of ressources but also quite some hours of designing, testing and adjusting. I am sure not everyone is willing to spend that much. Especially the big ones are worth a blueprint.

Hmm, I wonder how long it will take to create a Capital ship... Will it be like eve when it takes like many many months to even get the resources?
