I am personally thinking that you will have to go to the old style days of booby-trapping your base with the scripts system! Think : Indiana Jones and the temple of doom but a futuristic Sci-Fi version for you bases! =) I personally already have a few ideas I would like to try and a maze system.

Yea I think in the Lore it all so states there was a AI war and that is why most AI is band except of the ARK ships which need someone to run them well past the regular human life span. I have no problem with it and never was too happy with mmo's that had a lot of none player characters or npc's . I am sure the story line and lore will be worked on more before final launch of the game.

Paying a low tax for use of star gates and help with your products being sold in the galaxy market and free protection does not seem like a bad idea to me.

That's a great idea and it should ne easy to make if they just wanted to keep to the basics to give players some type of tracking system.

Ship Weapon systems?

In some games I have played they use a explosive plasma type weapon that seems to be effective on most targets small or large but I have a feeling we will probably start of with lasers and kinetic based weapons which is ok with me and maybe new weapons new one later. I would all so be ok if they just started off with just lasers but had some variety in types of lasers we could use.
