I'm wondering if it will be more FPS like or tab based/more traditional MMO like.

Reminded me of what I wanted NMS to be. I like the concept for NMS as a single player game, its just that personally I just about only play MMOs. Now they just need a SWG division of labor and social mechanics and we are set!
-
Pretty excited to see what they have to say, or show! Game trailer mayhaps?

You keep reminding me of the good things about Star Wars Galaxies, that is a very good thing.
-
I hope this isn't too broad. I mean, ship building and flying could be a game all by itself! If this is one of the pillars of the game it makes sense, but lets not forget about the rest of the "stuff to do"

I hope you utilize a division of labor, it did wonders for Star Wars Galaxies. I also hope you find a way to balance PVE and PVPers. It seems like too many PVP games push things so heavily in the PVP direction that PVE players flee the game and we end up with stale PVP.

Star Wars Galaxies was the first and only game I remember having multiple players in ships. Glad to see its finally coming back, and being improved upon.

I like how you think.

At Battlescape they have the whole 9 yards: gravity, inertia, even wind. And it is great but some are insisting that ships should actually be aerodynamic as opposed to look aerodynamic. But this would require building an in-game wind tunnel which, in my opinion, is complete overkill. Maybe 5~10 years down the road when the technology has been firmly rooted but for now just having basic Newtonian physics is more than enough. Last thing a Developer needs is falling into the old Star Citizen we can do anything feature creep. It seems what you have here already is a solid foundation for development and a better concept than anything out there.
IMHO if it was quick and easy, go all in, go super engineer physics and stuff, but realize most players will never get that anyway so do it if its cheap and easy.

I think my moreover point is, EVE is special but I'm not sure being a sandbox, or in this case, being the biggest sandbox is enough in 2016. Does it need PVE and quest hubs? No. But I think it needs Gods on the hill, as in it needs developers to stir the pot from time to time. It might also need some in game systems to help create that narrative and give it meaning via a history. Maybe even some unique character mechanics to stand out on that front as well.

Sounds good now where is that Kickstarter!

I forsee an AI army overtaking entire sectors!

For a sandbox to get beyond a gank box, which have short shelf lives, it's important to have as many non combat roles as combat roles. Glad to see a builder plan.
-
I wonder if they will allow for Dyson Spheres. Those might be the high end of a thing to chase, destroy or obtain. Players need things to chase.
-
Allowing players to make quests/missions is a good start but a way to let others know which ones are the good ones is needed.

I believe the exact quote was:
If you can imagine it, you can build it. Think Lego/Landmark/Minecraft on steroids.
I get that but I think it would need more since a few other games are offering similar. Like an open sandbox to make our own stories is awesome, but they will need something to nudge that along.

I was reading through some DevBlogs while the Forums were down and i came across this one that you might be interested in. Explains about the Lua and scripting and how connecting engines and control panels and such will work in the game and how you will be able to do it
DevBlog Link (Lua): https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2015/09/18/lua-script-and-distributed-processing-units/

Good Read i would recommend
Nice find, thanks!

I hail from Star Wars Galaxies and haven't really hailed from anywhere since. I came here because it sounds like EVE and I hope they have some SWG mixed in to give it a real world feel, the kind we can live in, the kind MMORPGs used to aspire to.

When in doubt look to Star Wars Galaxies. It can show you the wrong way to do many things as well as the way that would have been perfect but just wasn't quite there yet hehe.

Inde sandbox's are a dime a dozen these days. The tech behind Dual sounds like it can set it apart, but what are some features it could have that do as well? I know players will make a alot of the game, but what mechanics could be created to help nudge them to not just create things, but creat things of quality that are worth having great stories related to them?
FYI I've bee saying for years the greatest trick EVE ever pulled off was the shared universe which makes for a shares user experience with a real to player base history that is unique to it. Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed

Exactly what I asked them!

I am 100% for a sub model as long as the money goes back into the game in content being made/added
