I agree it would be difficult to get anywhere legally.

But at the same time, here is what NQ is selling when a new subscription player wants to join. So a wipe would disingenuous at best.

Yes disingenuous indeed.  I'm not saying that what NQ is doing is ethical in any way.  Really, If I just took over NQ.  I would say, we stuffed up and declared beta buts its still alpha, so, we are now returning to alpha, everything is subject to change.

A: Why I (after 1+ years of paying for subscriptions) would leave DU permanently if a full wipe happens and would look at the possibility of taking legal action for the lost time=money and actual lost money.

    1)  As far as I am aware you can only sue for your loss.  You would have to prove that you have lost money.

    2)  Any reasonable court would conclude that you played the game during your time of subscription so you got what you paid for.

    3) There really are not enough players currently in the game for NQ to care if they lose them.  You and I are playing an alpha and we are being treated as alpha players.  The .23 industry wipe and the latest mining/scan wipe prove that.  Many large role playing infrastructure is about to be removed ........ so why would you build anything?

  3. I have done the following

Symeon 70 scans..  Chromite 260 single figure s on the other 2

Garnerite 262 single figures on other 2

    No T4 or T5 seen

Ion  40 scans   Acanthitie 240 single figures on other 2

Coal 210 low figures on other 2

    No T4 or T5 seen

    Ion moo1 and 2 20scans

Malachite looked like I would get in the 200's but was just ther looking for T4 and T5.  Didnt find any.

  4. Interesting proposal.

You idea makes sense from a player interaction point of view ...... however :)

Can the game currently handle a city.  I dont think so.

Since the start of beta the game performance dies as soon as a number of players and their constructs get together.  Making the "space" smaller might actually make performance worse.

At the moment, I really dont think NQ care to much about the player base they seem to be focused on the final game and are not concerning themselves with the short term playability of the game.  For example  .23 (industry wipe) and now Demeter (mining and scan wipe) are probably beneficial in the long term future of the game but are basically punishing players who did hard work for the future.  On this forum there is a player trying to save a race track from destruction since many of the builders (hex owners) dont play anymore.  Why would a player contribute to a massive society structure right now when at any time another patch might wipe it out.  Imagine if we all got together and built a city and they wiped it.   Its pretty clear we are in Alpha and NQ is treating us as alpha players .....  the title "beta" is only there so they can justify the price.  Well thats my opinion anyway.

  5. So, right now the server is down for unscheduled maintenance.

I have a lot of quanta to pay in taxes and right now I was meant to be earning the quanta to pay said taxes.

Since NQ have introduced timed payments will they be granting extended time after server shut downs.

Right now is a critical time for me and I guess some others too.

  6. I know the move tool had its usage limited due to abuse but the game performance isn't up to scratch and there are times when I really need it.  I have been disconnected 8 times within about 25 mins.  Not just me I saw people also having trouble in chat.  Any way I'm trying to finesse my ship to scan 2 hex at one on Ion.  As you know, Ion is all mountains.  & times I logged back in to find me and my ship rolling down a mountain.  Several times landing on its roof, which is where my hatch is LOL.  Anyway the move tool, could we temporarily reinstate it.

Three days after you claim the tile, the tax is due.  If you don't pay it, you won't be able to run mining units or industry on the tiles.

Now you have two weeks before the tile becomes abandoned, so plenty of time to wait another week and pick up your TU

Well, I assume that, once the tax is due it wont let me take my territory unit back, until I pay the tax, which wont be worth it.  Maybe I am wrong?  but I have a feeling it will say that I cant interact with the territory unit.

  9. So, I just found out by looking at my map and then asking in chat that new hex only have 3 days before tax is to be paid.  Was this communicated anywhere?  I had read that we have a 2 week graced period.  From what I now understand that was only for old hex which I pulled up in preparation.   ON top of that because I had no idea what I was doing I put a couple claim units on hex I dont want.  I went to remove them but I cant because they have a cooling of period.  Now I have to pay 1 million each and the game wont let me remove them.  Arghhhhh

I just had a look.  Territory units are under 400,000.  I guess I just let them take them.

No it REALLY isnt, the best buy order is 70 and the lowest sell order is 90...... unless I have completely forgot how the market works, I have been on a break, so could be the case.  Unless you are looking at bot buy orders and taking that as the price, in which case, not sure what to say......

Not really that tough, when you can go and steal 100M worth of stuff from other players now, the gameplay has changed, stop focusing on tiles and mining all the time.  You can do a single safe zone mission a week per tile to pay your bills.  Mine a single mid tier asteroid..

Also I am a bit confused how T1 ore prices have collapsed...... define collapsed.  Not been playing that often but you can still sell T1 for 50-100h.  It was only a few months ago it was half that.

Coal is currently 25 quanta, its back up to 50 now.  Earlier today the best price was 25.  Dont know whats going on

If you have tiles that you want to hold on to because you want to build on them, but they don't produce enough ore to pay for themselves, then just designate them a Headquarters tile and don't pay the taxes.

You can build on up to five tiles that way on Alioth for free.  And one on the sanctuary moon.  and as many as you want in space.  All for free.

Yeah but those hex are not making you any quanta.

The T1 ore price has collapsed to the point that MU may not pay for the rent.  Very tough on new players

  13. T1 prices have dropped to bot pricing. I was unsure which way it would go but this was certainly one possibility.  People who used to do no mining or mining just for their own industrial use are now forced to sell to market.  So, the price plummets.

1st off.  DONT PANIC.  I also may go bankrupt :)  If a lot of players go bankrupt they will have to make adjustments.

2nd, we get 150K quanta daily

3rd.  Try having just one hex for now and do everything from there.

4th.  I thought we had 1 week without tax for the start of Demeter

I geuss they will never do a wipe anymore. Faci is that maybe 100 Players logging in daily. Most players have stopped playing. If they wipe the game is just empty. All builded things are gone away and no one will rebuild it. So everybody see that game is empty.

With the wrong decisions of the devs this game will lose more players as it generates new players. If they ever make a wipe - i guess no one will play anymore.

They cant lose what they dont have  :)

  15. OK, so I was not a miner previously.  Been away for 9 months but I was transporting and trading.  My income was always very low, maybe a million to 3 million in a week.  This update will probably mean that I make more quanta than ever before.  A lot of scanning and running around at the moment but at current or prices the 2 locations I have found will each have the ability to make around 20+ million a week without any adjacency, that's just 2 hex and maybe 3 mining units max on each.

Which leads me to wonder what will happen to the economy?

Dedicated miners will probably be making less than before but people like me will be making far more and I will be selling ore which I never used to do.  It will be interesting to see what happens.  Will they be a flood of ore now?

There is a video guide but it's in French and the subtitles are only in French.

Thank you to the champion that finally does one in English.
why doesn't youtube scan uploads to provide subtitles in whichever language u need. Course it only takes the uploader 2 seconds to add them but hey.
The vid gives you a semblance of an idea but as you can imagine, from such a non intuitive system, context is missing without speech or text.

The video was actually very helpful.  I will probably make a video on this soon.  So, the cone tool does not make any hotspot light up on the map (I thought anything in the cones arc would light up).  The cone will simply point towards the hot spot location, so its useful to put one in the middle initially as the direction of the cone will indicate which 3rd of the hex the hot spot is in.

After you set the final position , the number of leters  is shown on the left hand side of the dialog and above it is a button to set the current destination (waypoint) to the location of the surface ore. After pressing that it is easy to find the surfaceore.

Ahh, I thought that was just the final locating calibration for the auto miner.  Thanks

I also used the cone a few times and found it to be useless ... then I only used the "area" tool, with middle mouse button to make it larger or smaller, then I found the brightest spot of ore - which then if you hover over it, shows up to 100% target on the left side bar. I then placed the final point on that spot. And the ore spawned where i placed the point. It also shows the Destination marker on that spot.

I too just blindly "played" with it a bit, because like you, the db101 wasn't any help really.

I only got to 50%   I think maybe the ore only spawns if you find the 100% ?

  19. I cant be the only one who is having trouble with calibration.

devblog 101 does not explain how to calibrate.  Not only that but the hotspots looked completely different to those on db101 and the 3 cone's I deployed did not show anything even though the line tool revealed a hot spot within the cones arc.  Awesome.

So, since NQ seems unwilling to explain how calibration works (unless I missed it) I thought maybe people could post their experiences here for the benefit of all.

Oh yeah apparently some ore pops up after calibration.  I never found it.  I didnt know that apparently a message pops up after calibration telling you the location of the ore.  I never noticed the message and never got the ore.  So, if your new watch out for that one.

I've had a similar result on Ion but with Coal, Limestone, and Acanthite. Seems like there is an incentive to move to the outer planets which is fine. Just wished they could have given those planets more interesting terrain.

I nano-crafted a couple of small basic units on Sanctuary. I didn't expect much from them and didn't get much, but the surface ores that pop up when you calibrate are a nice kick start. For a new player experience, I would suggest starting players out with at least one charge so they can calibrate when they set the unit up as otherwise the unit won't do anything which will confuse new players to no end.

Ah, thanks thats good to know.  Ion ans Symeon are the 2 places I put space stations over so that I could milk all those T5 ores .......... that I cant find  lol
