Actually I hope NQ takes the servers down for a couple years and uses the money to develop a game. Then if they come back after a couple years, perhaps more than a couple, then maybe they'll have something resembling early access material.

I'm not necessarily against the proposed changes, and I'm not dumping on DU or NQ. But the way I see it, DU is just nowhere near ready to be played in the first place. You can't build on quicksand.

Why does JC ask us to "change the way we think about the game" when new changes are introduced? Simple. Because the current state of the game is way too far removed from what it's supposed to become. That's the long and short of it.

There's a 1001 things "wrong" with DU right now, and all of it is due to an overabundance of bugs and a massive lack of features, gameplay, UX and QoL. All of which boils down to a shortage of time and money.

In my not-too-humble and probably worthless estimation, if NQ had time and money, they could do great things with DU. By which I mean to say, the problem isn't NQ, I don't think. The problem is time and money. Time and money. Time and money.

    I could be wrong.

Shut down the servers, and you get both.

Game is not ready. Game is not ready. Game is way too far from flippin' ready. For all the impressive technical accomplishments so far (for which big thumbs up), sorry to say NQ but from a customer point of view at this point in time, you've got nothing.

I can't complain because I don't have to pay for access yet. It's free to play for me right now, and I barely play. They have my pledge money, and my game time doesn't start until "release", but if I were a paying beta subscriber my sentiment would be pretty much this: Shut down this shit show and come back when there's something worth paying for.

What we have now bears little or no resemblance to what DU is supposed to be.

    Time and money.

On that note... this forum is flippin' depressing.

    Peace.

Dude, this sums up nicely why I stopped playing.

Bought a three month subscription Aug 28th.

Could not get into the game (login timeout) at all.

Contacted support Aug 30th and sent required debug files Aug 31st. as requested.

Heard nothing. Repeatedly contacted support and once, via discord, got into the game for about a minute before it crashed and went back to the timeout issue.

Finally asked for them to cancel my payments and give me a refund as I wasn't getting any response from support (Sept 17)
"Please cancel my payments immediately and refund me the full amount paid"

Sept 30 received an email "Thanks for getting back to us. Sorry to hear you're having trouble playing the game and would like to have a refund. No worries, we'll get this sorted for you."

Today (Oct 28) I received an email

"I went ahead and cancelled your subscription."

note they cancelled the subscription and not the payments.

"Regrettably, scenarios such as this are currently not eligible for a refund."

with a link to the T&C with all the 14 day stuff in it.

I let them know within 2 days it wasn't working - but it has taken them 2 months to respond - but tough, outside the 14 days, buddy!

    And in that same email

"If you are interested, I would take a closer look at the issue and would like to request the following data about your device/setup:"

asking for the same files I sent on 31st August that nothing happened about.

I have tried all of the solutions offered in various other posts from folk having similar problems - and as mentioned, one of their support people managed to get me in the game for a minute by doing something (unfortunately when it crashed on my again and went back to the old behaviour, the Discord chap just told me to raise a support ticket.)

So I have asked them to re-instate my subscription until it expires (otherwise how could I possibly tell if they ever fix the problem) but not to allow it to renew.

I have sent the files requested (including resending the old files) in the hope that someone will actually look at them this time.

Incidentally (just in case they're reading) @ng-wokk was the original email support person I sent the files to (and who never responded) and @ng-rocketman  is the most recent correspondent.

I offer no advice - just the facts.

I will post again should I hear anything...

    Don't hold your breath

Why didn't you unsubscribe through Xosilla?  There are several threads on how to do that, and also make sure to get rid of recurring payments if you have not yet already.

Well according to multiple recent interviews, NQ is operating on very low resources right now. So while NQ can make whatever decisions about the game they want they also need money to keep the lights on and keep making those decisions. The argument is that NQ is forced to cater to their paying subscription members(people who joined the game two months ago at most, as well as brand new players) in order to stay afloat and continue developing the game.

Why are they on low resources? Money mismanagement?

Very observant of you, there's my definition and there's also a wrong one.

    1. New player leaves the kindergarten bubble and gets killed - that is suicide by pirate caused by a learning disability

    2. New player leaves the kindergarten bubble and gets killed the second time - that is also suicide by pirate but caused by a more severe case of learning disability

    3. New player leaves the kindergarten bubble looking for a fight and somehow finds a similarly underequipped newbie who returns fire - that is a duel

A person familiar with MMOs will notice that all these fall under PvP because they involve two or more player-made ships, others will try to twist definitions to save face on the Internet. Which is it going to be, @Treelessrain?

I am familiar with MMO's. I will stick with my definition , thanks.

Can I get a citation on these numbers? A standard space capable ship can be built under 500k which is vastly less than you can make just by running a factory in the background.

I risk repeating myself but any sort of combat between ships owned by two or more players is PvP whether you like it or not. It's only not PvP if the other party is an NPC made construct that is either unmanned or operated by in-game AI.

No citation for that, only based on what people have said on reddit about pictures of ships they built(ie, cost, build time) etc. Secondly, you and I seem to have a different definition of what pvp is:

1-New player leaves starting zone - gets ganked- that is ganking

2- New player leaves starting zone for the 2nd time- get ganked- that is  stupidity at its finest

3- New player leaves starting zone for the 3rd time and is prepared for a fight, and fights his attacker- that is pvp

  6. 1 minute ago, dumpeet said:

Now you're just preaching to the choir, only the NQ drones are defending them at this point as seen in

Blowing up people leaving the starter zone is a player attacking another player aka PvP.

No, that's a duel which is a subcategory of PvP. Don't get your terms mixed up or you'll end up like michaelk.

    I don't think I will, thank you.

Yeah, I am not preaching to the choir. I've been ******* about the games design ever since I started playing. People are finally starting to see the games numerous issues and hopefully propose solutions to them. Sorry, blowing up people who can't fight back is still ganking.  Especially, since unlike EVE ships are built from scratch, and can take days or weeks to build.  Sure, two people fighting is a duel, but it is still pvp between people who are ready and able to fight each other. Jumping noob ships as they leave the starter zone is not pvp-its ganking, especially since they probably won't be able to fight back.

Yeah, I am going to keep blaming NQ for this mess- let me know when they get their **** together.

I bought the game with the minimum entry package, think it was two months or something. And my request for a refund was denied. My reason being that I can't play the game because graphically it's cancerous and so blurry it gives me a headache just to look at it. How this doesn't warrant a refund when I played it for maybe 10 minutes I don't know, but reflects very poorly on the devs. That being said. I'm not going to do your work for you and submit a technical ticket or report this issue on the forums as it seems others have, and that's not my job.

I leave this as a message of my extreme disappointment with this game as a product, and it's developers service, as well as warning to others who may struggle with hot blurry messes.

Unsubscribe and get a refund through Xosilla.

I don't recall having to pick between blaming NQ or carebears. We've been doing both the whole time and somehow only you didn't get the memo.

The blame falls solely on NQ. They had 6 years to get this stuff right, and they can't. PVP should of been a fully fleshed out and fully implemented system as compared to what we have today. This goes with the rest of the game which is poorly designed as well. Finally, fun tip: blowing up people leaving the starter zone who can't fight against you is not pvp: its ganking. PVP is when  two people who are prepared for a fight -fight each other. So, when nq gets there **** together you can blame the carebears. Until then, blame NQ.

There are alot of opinions on what "Alpha" means, "Beta" means etc. One of my favorite games out right now is in Beta and has been for years and years. It is quite polished and should be considered out of beta or gold release by now but that dev team choose that route. Even out of beta and in full production, content to keep the game fresh and push end content is typically added and this shouldnt be only added in the beta phase. I consider the "sunset" phase is where the game has been out for a long time, the dev team has lost interest and they are simply in maintenance mode. Sunset phase or post-production is where I would expect no more features and simply seeing maintenance to keep the server(s) up and critical issues addressed.

Ya talking about warframe by chance?

Hello everyone. Just wanted to let you know that we are actively invetigating this situation. Thank you for everyone who sent us a report about this.

If ya have the time, there is another thread in the this forum that has a similar issue. I would suggest taking a look at that one as well. The post is titled" Unknown people took the base".

Eh, DU has fundamental issues that are getting people either bored or burned out - stuff like this is just icing on the cake.

Sad reality is that even if these guys didn't get their base stolen, they would have burned out on the drudgery of mining all day to do anything and quit anyway...it just may have taken longer.

I legitimately cannot understand how NQ expects people to 'enjoy' hunting for or mining high tier ore.

Pretty much this... It seems JC and NQ are disconnected  from their playerbase. We wanted a game, but all we got is a tech demo- and not even a good one at that!

The high amount of crafts at markets which are not just parked for some shopping are a problem.

They are unsightly and limit parking space on one hand, which can be seen as more of an RP issue for some, but they also reduce performance for players with low or mid range computers. There are plenty of people who said they had to skip the tutorial as their frame rate was far too low.

I suggest something is done about. A few examples:

    - Parking fee. As you park on the parking deck a timer starts in the background. If you stay for 30m or more or leave the cell without taking all your cores with you, you get a pop up informing you of the parking fee. Should your craft stay for another hour or longer, the fee is taken from your account or taken of your next log in money. It would slowly increase, similar to the TU placement cost. Something like 10k for a full day, 40, 90, 160, 250 etc for the following. It could also be auto-impounded after 24h, and you can get it again at the ship store.

    - Have multiple parking decks close to the market, parking there automatically despawns your craft and teleports you to the market. Your containers are still available. If no advertisement crafts are visible when parking, hopefully the people will not try to leave their crafts at or close to the markets. The market itself gets a larger no-fly zone.
Please only introduce this after a good amount of testing and if the several current container link bugs are fixed.

    - Make crafts not load anymore, if they have been standing still for long enough. So if I, as a player, arrive at the market, I only load and see ships that have landed withing the last 6 hours (or my own ships). I would not see the permanent advertisements etc. Any machine in the game has its own timer anyway, when a craft lands in a public tile (user exits control seat) the timer starts. For the owner of a craft nothing changes.

I hope there can be some discussion about the issue and a solution can be found.

Being a Elite Dangerous player, I think Frontier has a good solution to this issue. When docking at a station, you are issued a time limit to dock, but for DU you could be issued a time limit to stay at the market, before fines started to accrue on your account. You would get a base time of 20 minutes to stay before fines accrue. Furthermore, you can only have one owned construct in the market area at a given time to keep the 20 minute fine limit. If you have more than 1 construct than you will be charged a flat 100k quanta per owned construct on the tile per hour. Eventually if you leave your construct there for more than a few days it will be teleported to some sort of impound, and you will have to pay a fee to pick it up and a fee to retrieve it cargo. This fee also scales with the number of constructs in impound. If you wanted to make this really punishing charge more quanta for constructs with higher masses.

Been thinking about posting this for a while but thought NQ would have done something already.

Going to post this as politely as I can but the support giveaways are a COMPLETE JOKE.  50% of people are lying, this is obvious because they say things like:

"I crashed when coming into atmosphere, logged back in and my ship was destroyed" - bullshit, you crash your ships stops what they actually means is "I have a really heavy ship, I crashed the game coming into atmosphere because i couldnt slow down, logged back in with zero momentum and my massively overweight ship fell like a rock"

"I just died on XXXXX insert planet and have magically teleported to Ailoth, can you port me back" = I was mining and tried to use the force respawn to cheese back to my ship, but didnt check my node before I used this soft exploit

This is causing a LOAD of problems, firstly you are completely shielding these new players from any survival elements of the game, experienced players know to fly with good scrap and extra fuel.  New players arent learning these lessons because when they make mistakes (and most ARE player mistakes) they get freebies.

The worst part about all this is that they are making a huge section of gameplay / career paths completely redundant.  In alpha there were loads of players planning to set up as repair / refuel crew or taxi services, I have reached out to several of these to see how business is and there ISNT ANY.  The game has limited career paths as it is (without really knowing the game) these are some of the more obvious ones and you are making them irrelevant.  The longer this goes on the worse it will get.

My solution - send out an email saying that the daily quanta is being continued but it is being called BETA SUPPORT INCOME, it is paid to ensure players have funds in case of emergency.  You then reach out to verified support services orgs and bring them into support via some additional channel, where you can send people who need there services.

This needs to be done soon, as you are making a massive rod for your own back by giving this crutch to new players (although seen several vets abusing it too).

I agree with this... and to add on make any support help a once and done type thing... Kind of like how Frontier will restore your ship for you, but only once and after that it is on you.

    Hello Guys,

maybe i dont understand this game...

I forced myself to look inside, again and again, but i cant find the game inside.

For me, it is the worst side of eve online, some sort of digging simulator, but extremly worse implemented.. thats not a game, its a pain.

Same for producing. you could just steal everything from eve instead of redefine a good system.

But the worst thing is, that for people who dont like the digging, there is nothing to do. I dont understand, why are there from every game

    only the bad things here.

Look at Empyrion, they make improvements, overhauiing bad stuff, there are server clusters with near than 200 players per Server. There is live.

There, i only see endless parked ships.

At the first time i saw this game here, i tought, a few weeks and games like empyrion will die quickly. Now i know, they are still better, and they have still their Playerbase.

Such Games like this, are niche Games, the Playerbase is never enoght to play both of them. Its time consuming, so i have to decide what i want to play in the future.

And i dont want to dig with this mechanik. ;) .. and neither to pay for it.

I hope you have already an idea, how you will got players back, after some time, without let them pay for it. I think, the players who gone, will never pay twice for a look inside,

only to see if there are improvements or not.

I have one month left and will connect one or two times(never dig anymoire)  but after that, i think i will forget this game quickly. For me, because there is none.

All the reasons you listed OP, are why I decided to unsubscribe... Even through I will be checking it out later when nq gets their stuff together...

There is a lot of comments on the forum at the moment about wiping the game, and how it would help bring in new players who wouldnt want to be 'behind' everyone else.  My own personal opinion is that I would 100% stop playing now, completely for Beta and probably wouldnt come back for launch.  As there is no incentive to play and it would wipe out the month of dedicated work I put into the game because I thought it was live.

Just wondered how other people felt, as i personally think wiping would do far more damage to the current / vets player base and it would have positive effect on new players joining.

I have stopped playing the game, but if I come back a wipe would push me away from the game. I also don't think it would help new players catch up as you would have orgs getting their areas together immediately after wipe...

Ya that does. I am also hoping this game replaces eve for me. I do love eve but after 10 years something new has its appeal.  If I were you tho, definitely check back when its "official release" and see if enough has been added for you to come back.

Oh, I definitely plan to, but we will have to see. I generally tend to lurks around forums/reddits to see what is going on anyway. Thanks for the advice!

I have the same issue.  Tried to build a Minecraft style shack to start and wow, the interface was soo bad.  There was a magic box I needed but the tutorial would not let me place it because the tutorial area was "owned" by a player.  I play games for fun, not frustration.  In any case, there is no information on how to cancel your account and even the support team does NOT give out much information.  These people are so lazy they can't even cut and past the procedure or put it on their web site.   Maybe they are not equipped to cancel anything themselves so just push it off.  There needs to be a way to cancel in your account!  Not having that is just unprofessional.

Go back to the original e-mail from Xsolla with title of "Dual Universe subscription activated"

Why did you unsubscribe from DU? Why did you say you were while quoting his post? Are you implying you unsubscribed because of peoples "attitudes" on the forums and reddit? You yourself just said you dont see that ingame. I'm genuinely curious why you unsubscribed and then made a comment about people on the forums and reddit if that is not a reason for you leaving.

Yeah, I guess I should of clarified that better. First off, I figured out how to uninstall the game. Secondly, I was answering his post and I decided to include that(not sure why). I am unsubscribing not because of the community or anything said in these forums posts, but because the game is not for me...  Which sucks, because I had been following this game for two years and had really high hopes for it. I was looking for something to replace EVE and maybe this game will come close, but only time will tell if it can...

I hope that answers your question.
