  1. personally, and as big lover of the mmo genre as a whole (og everquest and diablo one on aol as a kid) sound as a teaching tool isnt really used as often, and to be honest it would be a refreshing change to see it in the full game. im very hopeful for this game, as ive been watching it from afar for a while, since atleast no mans lie, and i am super excited. i truly hope this game can deliver, and if they can nail this one down pat they'll be on course for sure
  2. We all learn in different ways, wether it be by reading a book or hearing a podcast or watching a video or just straight hands on doing, the way we learn and the way games teach us has to evolve. what i like about what you guys have done here is create a system that actually talks to me to tell me "hey do this and well move on when your ready" and then only reacts when the player has completed the task (wich as someone who takes a large interest in to game development i can say that on this scale it is not a quick thing so my hats off to what youve done so far!). that being said though, there are some things i would definatley incorporate. the very first and most important is voice. having a human voice talk to me to tell me in a human way how to do the things i need to do really helps, but i would replace the computer generated voice with a real human reading the lines and maybe throwing in some wild lines that are different everytime to add to the immersion. i realize this is not a top priority for the game to work, but i truly feel that it would add to the game quite a bit if i didnt hear it spout off path names when it just wants me to press a specific key that could have changed. to work around this i would have the script refer to it only as its function, so press the interact button or select the voxel placement tool, and have the on screen text refer to it as its proper mapped key. the second thing i would do is to incorporate a visual to go along with the voice, wether it just be a reactive sound wave, or a rendered avatar with motion cap, something to visualize the sound and teach not only auditory learners but visual ones as well would help the curve stay small. the different paths having "schools" is a great touch, though it would be really cool if they were more interactive, like if i want to go to pilots school i go sign up and i am taken through the process and in going through the process i get graded and can earn unique rewards for placing well in challenges inside the tutorial process (i.e every week the building school could have a contest where builders can submit there creations in school to be judged or a comp[etition for the industry school for whomever can earn the highest amount by a certain time using only tools provided, or maybe the flight school has courses that at the end of classes can take part in a competitive race so one and so on) and upon gradutaing can be granted a prop allowing for bragging rights this is just a few of the things i would love to see. if they dont happen, thats fine too, either way im going to have fun watching this game take off and im gunna have fun trying to build my favorite ships! catch yall on the dual side Ponk
